@Clairaudience he didn't release his own music under his own name until after cb passed....he was fort minor releasing a mixtape we major then an album the rising tide and one single in 2014 I believe which was welc9me...fort minor was always his solo project...in 2019 after everything he released post traumatic under his real name first time in his career...then came ziggurats...which is rap heavy short ep and is fantastic and dropped frames vol. 1-3 mostly inteumentals....then came shinoda produce me and fine. The only thing in his range we never got to hear was how low he could go, could he reach baritone? If so then his range would be other worldly! I can do baritone and almost as high as Chester could do. This is why I pose this question.....

One of my favorite albums of all time. The era link park is from has a lot of music that has aged poorly in some ways, but these albums still sound great to me because of how authentic the performances from Chester and Mike are. Just perfect in so many ways
You should really make this Rap fan listens to rock music a series, it would be really fun to see you react to our recommendations ❤ Also if you enjoyed this album, you should listen to their first album "Hybrid theory", it's wicked
There's a song on the band's 2014 album with Rakim. Y'know, from Eric B. and Rakim. The song is called Guilty All The Same. Listen to it, and you'll realize Mike Shinoda's rapping is heavily influenced by Rakim.
Also fun fact LP has both done an album and concert with Jay-Z which you should check out. Speaking on Mike and Chesters chemistry, on Fort Minors album the rising tied, song 11 (get me gone) Mike mentions how the label who signed linkin park tried to keep Mike from rapping. To quote him in the song "telling me to quit rapping, just play the keys, that my band had a singer, they didnt need me" The band im assuming led by chester, then backed him up and did the album, silencing the labels awful attempt to change the band they literally signed
The reason Chester's vocals might stick out to you is because he does something called "pitched screaming", where you essentially sing through the scream.
The main thing is that with metal bands, screaming is all about the shock value and edginess, so they do screaming vocals that express one-dimensional rage and anger. But since LP come from a hip hop background rather than a metal one, they aimed for a very different emotional tone, and Chester's screaming vocals are visceral expressions of pain and anguish. Metal screaming makes me roll my eyes because the edginess is so cheesy, but Chester's screaming pulls me in with the sheer heartbreaking agony it expresses.
@@DaP84and his breathe control! Even in the first song i heard ‘In the End, he’s holding that note for SO long, and it’s crystalline in it’s purity. “What you’ve goooooooooot” lol.

This band got me into metal music at a time when I only listened to hip-hop music. Now im a huge fan of hiphop and a huge fan of all things metal, mainstream and extreme. All thanks to Hybrid Theory and Meteora.
It was the opposite for me, I was a metal head as a teenager but this along with other nu-metal bands exposed me to rap and hip hop and now I can appreciate that genre as well and even really enjoy some of it.
I like how this song is meant for person that's battling strong addiction, but can really be for anyone struggling. For the longest time I thought it was for someone trying to control their anger (since that's what I was and am dealing with) LOVE THIS SONG!
Yo I didn’t expect this, I love Linkin Park. I was actually going to send a song as a request for the next stream. But I’m glad you reacted to this, Meteora is one of my favorite albums of all time. And in my opinion, you should check out more of their music, they’re very versatile. I don’t say this as a fan, but because they make amazing music, Mike and Chester are an excellent duo. But that’s my opinion, and I apologize if this comment is too long.😅
Seeing you react to the band that made my childhood makes me so happy🥹 Linkin Park really knew how to mesh rock and hip hop elements together perfectly and these first 2 albums are damn near perfect imo. Would love to see you check out their Collision Course mash up album with Jay Z
This is one of my favourite albums ever made I remember the first time I listened to it when I was like 11 I was blown away , just everything about it is fantastic 10/10 record and RIP Chester , he was a legend
Really cool you could finally experience Meteora for the first time! They released their 20th Anniversary version months ago that includes 5 songs that were meant for the album but were never released, and I’d definitely recommend listening to those if you loved this.
Linkin Park and the whole emo/hardcore scene along with Teen Titans/CN cartoons made my childhood man, so many memories of those DBZ and Naruto battles with these songs as background as well. Also Transformers first two movies were goated with LP, GOATED.
Something that isnt really talked about by people who are Rap fans, who have the same feelings you do regarding "I dont like Metal or Screamo but Linkin Park hits it well" is the fact that Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn both have a rap background, they both with to art schools, and were the producers on the albums. The basis for Linkin Park is a hip hop group, that add rock, rather than a rock group that add hip hop. Which is what makes their appeal just be sooo good and widely appreciated.
Hybrid Theory and Meteora do have that formula of Mike rapping verses and/or pre-chorus while Chester does the chorus/bridge (and sometimes the verses or pre-chorus) but after that, that formula kind of disappears. Chester has a lot less of those heavy vocals and more softer vocals while Mike has less rapping and more singing. Of course we still get those great Chester screams and great rapping from Mike but it is less, which sort of makes it hit that much harder when it comes Most of the band's biggest singles do come from these first 2 albums which I think is why a lot of people consider them to have a lot of songs that sound the same. But when you only take songs from their first 2 albums, there's not going to be that many singles that are wholely unique and don't follow a formula
I love your reaction to this album. Chester got me into screaming vocals. He's probably my fave screaming vocalist. Instead of angelic screaming, Chester makes sing screaming sound so melodious but he sings whether soft or clean like an angel. I can't believe you didn't react to Hybrid theory their debut album first. That album is incredible and banger filled too. Please react to it
Really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on this album! I think it's interesting that you noted that, as I understood what you were saying, it felt like there was a formula to it, but an enjoyable one? Linkin Park's debut album "Hybrid Theory" was such a massive success that they were under quite a bit of pressure to replicate that, while still wanting to be creative and do new stuff. I think it's interesting to view Meteora in that light; staying close to what they knew they did well, but experimenting within that. The end result being an album some consider "a better Hybrid Theory". But after that, Linkin Park grew frustrated with feeling trapped creatively, and since then it was like getting whiplash every time they released a new album 😂❤ So I'd really love to hear a reaction to another album, or at least some tracks from different albums. I think "A Thousand Suns" would be ideal for a whole album review, since it really should be considered in that light. If individual tracks, on top of my head, just listening to something like "Given Up" and "The Little Things Give You Away" from the album "Minutes To Midnight" give a glimpse of the diversity the band displayer later! God if there was any artist who's concert I could go see...it would first be Linkin Park. However, after the passing of Chester Bennington I don't know if they are doing any more tours. Hopefully, Eminem does at least one more before he retires.
Go to a concert any artist dead or alive My answer will always be Chester Bennington and Linkin Park, he’s truly one of the most talented vocalists ever. Rip
I feel like a lot of people in the chat were underatting Mike, while I can understand some criticims, he honestly did really carry the band along with Chester. Every member there was a master of their craft, Mike was both a beast of a lyricist and masterful producer. He's also a pretty solid rapper even outside of the LP albums like in Fort Minor or in the X-Cutioner collaberation album or even in the JAy Z collab.
That genius note on Breaking the habit is wrong. Mike Shinoda disproved this in a recent video where he said it was about a friend but not drug addiction.

God if there was any artist who's concert I could go see...it would first be Linkin Park. However, after the passing of Chester Bennington I don't know if they are doing any more tours. Hopefully, Eminem does at least one more before he retires.
A Thousand Suns was very different as well as an album.
Go to a concert any artist dead or alive
My answer will always be Chester Bennington and Linkin Park, he’s truly one of the most talented vocalists ever. Rip
Youve never heard meteora? Oh wow, it's all good af. Also reminds me of middle school, and that one Jay Z collab album.
You should listen to Hybrid Theory and Mike Shinoda’s solo album Post Traumatic
Crazy yall are twins. I knew Jayce was kidding when he said yall were the same person
for september (national suicide prevention month) you should listen to one more light in honor of chester
All the albums are bangers
We need you do listen more other genres and also more your opinions on AOTY like ratings of albums from your best 2016 albums.
That genius note on Breaking the habit is wrong. Mike Shinoda disproved this in a recent video where he said it was about a friend but not drug addiction.
He's GOTTA do OK Computer bro
We need the hybrid theory review please
The last thing you can never say about Linkin Park is that they have a "FORMULA" to making music...
Are we seeing a new metal brother joining us?
comparing linkin park to skillet... pain
you have to understand man, my level of experience with this genre is extremely low hahaha
@@CDTVthaG no i get that. Its an outside perspective looking at something relayively unfamiliar
Now it's time to react to the Jay Z x Linkin Park crossover
