I'm from Surigao, my Nanay's humba were different, cooking pork for 3 to 4 hours in very low heat, so it was very tender, jiggly na ang taba at ang fats and soy sauce were yummy sa mainit na kanin :)
Oo yung 3 to 4 hrs lowheat din kami magluto. Walang bukasan ng takip. Para jiggly yung taba hahaha. Yan kasi dapat talaga ang totoong bisayang humba. Hindi biglaan or minadali.

Super ang sarap...kaya hindi ako nagpapahuli sa hapag kainan or else baka ang pinaka maliit na hiwa mapunta sa yo...natuto akong magluto ng humba sa kanya. Ng nag graduate na ako at nakapag trabaho abroad nagluluto ako ng humba. Maramihan at divided na lang into one serving portions at e freeze. Pag gusto ko ng humba, kukuha lang ako ng isang pack at e micro wave...minsan nagdadala ako ng extra pack sa work place dahil ang mga kababayan ay matakaw din sa humba. Sa Jeddah pa galing ang pork at nagbebenta sila ng patago sa meatshop. Sasabihin ng namin sa itlog na butcher, "sadiq fi special meat"...? Alam na nya baboy...di mo pa makukuha agad. Balikan mo pa after 30 min. kas haram yon don sa Riyadh...equivalent to 350psos/kilo circa 2015...ngayon pag miss ko na ang humba, maskara ang ginagamit ko dahil di masyadong mataba...ngayon nagluluto ako ng humba, my own version...Bacolod ako Vanjo but natuto ako ng humba recipe kay Tyay sa Dumaguete City...

Hello Vanjo This is my first time to send you comments. I just watched your You Tube demonstration on how to cook HUMBA using Pork Belly. I am from Kalibo, Aklan, Philippines and we immigrated to Santa Barbara,California in 1993. I just want to thank you for all the recipes you posted in Panlasang Pinoy. It made me interested in cooking Pilipino dishes. During the Corona Virus pandemic, I had more time to try various recipes and practice cooking with patience. This has made me a better cook. Again, thank you.
Kapag kami nagluluto ng Homba, pagkatapos namin ma extract ang taba ng baboy ay kakuha kami ng ibang lagayan at doon ilalagay lahat ng ingredients. Hindi na kami mag gisa ng bombay at ahos. My family rooting is from Masbate. I am very familiar with HUMBA Bisaya. My Mom used to prepare this dish when we were young. Oh.. I miss my Mom :-( .... She has her own style in preparing HUMBA but almost the same. She is using small portion of Coconut Cream instead of Soda Lime.... and yes, BELLY is the portion for HUMBA. My grandfather's humba recipe is lost forever. He never taught it anyone except my grandmother who died recently. He perfected Humba because it was the only thing he knew how to cook. Humba is his favorite pulutan during family drinking sessions. Thanks for this video.

From Cebu here, humba is usually served on our special occasions. :) Humba is actually a short term for "Humok nga Baboy" or soft pork.. Hum - Humok Ba - Baboy Your version is actually how my dad cooks Humba, he gets rid of the extra fats..

It brought back memories of my childhood. This is the dish they cook during bisperas town fiestas along with dinuguan. The main dishes were usually prepared after the cooks and the entire household have eaten and get energized to cook all night long preparing other dishes as they drink tuba or coconut wine. Only thing I didn’t like was seeing the poor pig being slaughtered but I guess the freshness of the meat made all those dishes really savory😋Thanks for sharing this video. It’s easy !

Ang recipe ng lolo ko ay ahos lang whole pepper at laurel leaves, maliban sa toyo, suka asin at asukal na pula!!!Talagang masarap siya maaghumba, ang sauce ay malinamnam din, he puts the "pan de sal" on its sauce all the time, ganyan kasarap ang sauce niya!!!ohhh! i miss my lolo!!!

This dish is so close to my ❤& 🏡 My papa always cook this for me. I grow up in cebu and one of my childhood favorite food aside from lechon. We add bayleaf , star anise, for extra aroma and use coke or pineapple juice in our family. I like a little spicy so I add chile flakes you should give it a try. Humba has been my most favorite dish since childhood, but i dont particularly eat just any humba, i only eat my late grandpa's humba but sad to say he pass away when i was young. @Aurora Chamberlain, hi :) The saute method is more of the Tagalog way of cooking humba. We don't saute nor marinate the meat prior the actual cooking. I have my recipe on my channel if you are interested :) I am a Bisaya living here in Slovenia.

It made me interested in cooking Pilipino dishes. During the Corona Virus pandemic, I had more time to try various recipes and practice cooking with patience.

My family rooting is from Masbate. I am very familiar with HUMBA Bisaya. My Mom used to prepare this dish when we were young. Oh.. I miss my Mom :-( .... She has her own style in preparing HUMBA but almost the same. She is using small portion of Coconut Cream instead of Soda Lime.... and yes, BELLY is the portion for HUMBA. My grandfather's humba recipe is lost forever. He never taught it anyone except my grandmother who died recently. He perfected Humba because it was the only thing he knew how to cook. Humba is his favorite pulutan during family drinking sessions. Thanks for this video.

It brought back memories of my childhood. This is the dish they cook during bisperas town fiestas along with dinuguan. The main dishes were usually prepared after the cooks and the entire household have eaten and get energized to cook all night long preparing other dishes as they drink tuba or coconut wine. Only thing I didn’t like was seeing the poor pig being slaughtered but I guess the freshness of the meat made all those dishes really savory😋Thanks for sharing this video. It’s easy !

This dish is so close to my ❤& 🏡 My papa always cook this for me. I grow up in cebu and one of my childhood favorite food aside from lechon. We add bayleaf , star anise, for extra aroma and use coke or pineapple juice in our family. I like a little spicy so I add chile flakes you should give it a try. Humba has been my most favorite dish since childhood, but i dont particularly eat just any humba, i only eat my late grandpa's humba but sad to say he pass away when i was young. @Aurora Chamberlain, hi :) The saute method is more of the Tagalog way of cooking humba. We don't saute nor marinate the meat prior the actual cooking. I have my recipe on my channel if you are interested :) I am a Bisaya living here in Slovenia.

wow humba is my favorite. alam ko kng paano lulutuin ang humba taga mindanao po ako. humba kc palagi naming ni luluto pag fiesta sa amin. hindi mawawala ang humba sa kaldero pag may fiesta.
