  • Back in July, Verizon's postpaid division rolled out new data-only plans with caps of up to 150GB for mobile hotspots. Today, Verizon's prepaid division has rolled out similar plans with some slight differences.
In this video, we recap the new prepaid plan offerings and compare them to their postpaid equivalents.

So i will say thank you for the insight. Just started vanlife and was trying to figure out the best option for me. I first went with Verizon. I got the 150 gb post paid plan. With taxes it will cost you $110 a month since i don’t currently have service with them. I took it back because that was just too expensive compared to T-Mobile. For t-mobile i could get 200 gb for $100 after taxes. Coverage area is a concern so I’ll probably go with a secondary company that uses Verizon towers at a discounted rate.

Fantastic information! All your videos are soo helpful. Question…is there a way to “test” in a given area to see what network is available (ie. Verizon or AT&T) before activating prepaid data on a sim for that area? For example, if visiting a rural area that may only have coverage from one network for a shorter period of time (say 2-3 weeks). Trying to not pay for prepaid data when it’s not even available. Thanks!

The main problem with prepaid is that you’re on the “second tier” priority. My experience is that I’m often throttled down and there is no coverage in sparsely settled areas when there should be coverage.
I have to be on prepaid because that is the only way to remain anonymous, ie: not using one’s real name.

Thanks so much for this info. I have Straight Talk with their Verizon version of a LG Stylo 4, (and I have a Moto G Stylus Verizon version from Straight Talk that should be in today) and their biggest plan is $65 a month but it only offers 20gbs of data for a hotspot through my cell. The problem was I was without home internet for about 40 days after Hurricane Ida, (direct hit here in Houma, LA) so I only had my cellphone to use its hotspot to get internet on my laptop connected to my living room tv. The major problem was I went through 20gbs in about 2 weeks so I had to refill my $65 monthly plan 3 times in that 40 days so yeah if I would have know about this It would have saved a ton of money.

This this is why I am watching this video I live in the intercoastal islands of South Carolina and we have the worst internet services and if you're in a certain area deep in these woods they have what they call availability cats and just so happened they are completely tapped out in my section so I can't get it until they bring in fiber optics and cable and that won't be until the end of this year so right now I'm trying to find a way to use or pay for mobile data just the data plan to use my laptops my cricket and I really don't care about my TV it's like I use still over the air television but it is a added plus cuz it is a smart TV but my main concern is being able to use my items for crafting purposes and they give us 15 gigs on the $55 plan and it wiped me out in less than a week

If pre-paid is they get your money BEFORE service is provided and post-paid is they get your money AFTER service is used, then why is pre-paid lower priority then post-paid?
