I worked at Aerus Electrolux back when they were known as just Electrolux when I was in college. I never heard of them before I worked there. I thought it was bullshit that people would pay $1000+ for a vacuum cleaner. But I found out Aerus Electrolux makes really good cleaners. There's a difference between Aerus Electrolux and Electrolux since they're two different companies. I was a newbie and got most of my leads from door-to-door sales. To this day, I still can't believe some women would let me come into their homes for a demo. Once I left college and started working, I bought an Aerus Electrolux commercial upright cleaner. I've had it for over 12 years now and it's built like a tank. I only use authentic Electrolux bags and the suction is as strong as the day I bought it. If you take care of it, an Aerus Electrolux will last you 20+ years.
The model C134A wasn't marketed long before the nearly identical C134B succeeded it (although I'm unsure what change was made). Its body style was introduced in 1994 on the Renaissance/C104A. Later, the label was changed to Epic 8000, then Guardian, Guardian Encore, and Lux Guardian. It was discontinued in 2009 and succeeded by the Lux Guardian Ultra/C170A. All in all, it ran for 15 years with twelve different model #s, which indicated changes and, upgrades, and/or those sold indirectly rather than door-to-door. Thanks for the demo.
I just recently purchased an Epic 600SR in full working order lightly used, with all attachments for $168.00 plus free shipping. Works perfectly just had to order new filters for little cost.
I saw a guardian at a thrift store for about $60. It was in really good condition and was super clean. It looked like it was only used at least twice. I didn't have the money for it so I had to come a different day. When I went back it was gone. I was pretty sad I couldn't get it. I hope it went to someone who will take care of it.
Please make a video on how to disassemble this vacuum. I have the same model and need to get to the cord retractor to see if I can get the cord to retract.
The elongated shape allows the cleaner to easily rest on standard-width stairs. You're correct that the HEPA filter was added on the Guardian-labeled version in 1999. Some other trivia: the colors were named oyster & fog; "Aerus" is Greek for "Air" and is pronounced "Air-us"; the model N106M power nozzle was used for the Epic 8000, C134A & C134B--the printing on cover of the first was red and on the last two was blue.
Greetings Alex, I started vac repair for a local shop right out of HS back in 1996 - for about 2 years. Afterwards I went on to college, went into Mechanical Engineering - tool/tooling design and manufacturing processes. Manufacturing isn't exactly a stable industry in the States - got tired of making things work for companies who didn't do the same in return for me (which is most of the companies out there. kids, the American Dream is BS - find another angle). I've recently started doing Vac repair out of my home. I am now receiving 2-3 vac repairs a week via an online community forum. I just took in my first (Guardian C134B) Electrolux canister since last working on them 25 years ago. I am finding I can source a lot of parts on Amazon, and some other places like eVacuumStore. I too worry about OEM quality and I was wondering if you could share with me a good way to source quality parts, especially for Electrolux. Great video and thank you, John
I have this model in the Epic 8000 variant, basically the same but without the "tumor" on top, which makes the machine look much nicer in my opinion. I also have the brand new Aerus Guardian Platinum with double HEPA filters; I'd be curious to see what the emissions rating is on that one
@@580678 Japan is this weird parallel universe of home appliances and some of their vacuums are pretty novel. They were on a thing for a while of selling ULPA rated vacuums. ULPA is the clean room standard, 99.999% filtration at 0.08 microns. Very expensive exhaust filters. $85 for the filter for my Panasonic MC-SXJ4000. Looks like a small round automotive air filter that goes in a hatch on the bottom of the machine.
My mom just gave me hers lucky me! I’m trying to figure out how to take the filter off hasn’t been replaced since 2004! But she hasn’t used in many years. Never knew to have it overhauled and checked out! How do I find GOOD service in Michigan?!
We have this vacuum for over 20 years. It has worked perfectly until yesterday when the cord system will no longer retract the powercord. Can you do a video on how to fix the cord retractor? Or point me to where I can find info on how to fix this problem? Thanks.
Loved mine I had the blue one and still have it,only thing I couldn't stand was the small bags ! Get full so fast which means it's doing its job, sadly I got the wrong watt light bulb in for the power head and when I put it in it shut down and the green power indicator no longer shows so I can't turn it on .so I just use both my upright electrolux vacuums .
I had a problem with low airflow on my Guardian Platinum and it turned out to be a couple of clogged hoses. In particular the hose from the bag door was packed with crud. That might be a place to investigate. These didn't have super powerful motors btw. 33 cfm is about it.
Alex, I have the same model. After running about 10-15 minutes its shuts off. Not a full bag and the the bag indicator light doesn't come on. So, I dont think it has anything to do with the bag. It won't turn back on till i let it sit a few minutes. Is there some kind of sensor on these motors?
+dave jones well there's an exhaust filter or something stuck in the hose or powerhead would be my first guess from those symptoms. There are a couple circuit boards as well in this unit. If you need further help on it go to my patreon page be happy to help you
Hepa filter is new, nothing in hose or powerhead. I found a wiring diagram on this model and it shows a "thermal cutoff switch" on the red wire coming from motor. But my thinking is, the thermal switch would either be good or bad and not allow the vacuum to run at all if it were bad. The patreon page? Is that a page to compensate you for your help? If so, i have no problem with that as long as the help is useful. Thanks!

As far as quality goes, I like the one's that were made during the 70's, 80's and 90's with the mostly metal handles and canisters. I personally hate this model because of the plastic handle which can break easier. I also do not like all the fancy, expensive hepa filters, even though I am shooting myself in the foot because I have allergies. My lux 2000 or classic lux only has the bag and the carbon filter and that is it. It still runs good till this day. All we do is buy bags, after filters, and clean sweep chips to freshen the air. But If I had to pick a favorite to keep forever it would be the Grand Marquise model made during the late 80's because it's the last of the metal bodies.
This machine is no longer made. Their current flagship is the Lux Guardian Platinum with a pre motor HEPA and post motor HEPA and is very quiet and more powerful. The canister is based on the Lux Intelligence by Lux International of Europe. It's a really nice machine. You'd like it Alex. m.ua-cam.com/video/eSlT1VcXaDw/v-deo.html
Methylated spirits work to remove paint marks and won't melt the plastic (that's what he's using)... Don't know why he just doesn't say it, it's not a trade secret!!!

It would probably go down to 0 Miele isnt the only one that does that.

have you tried ebay for an other one same style but a different color pretty much
On my Epic 8000 those two rear wheels caster.
How do you get to the cord winder?

How to troubleshoot low airflow/suction on this model? I've checked the filter and the motor sounds fine...

Its denatured alcohol, which can be had from Home Depot or Lowes etc. About $8.00/qt. or $17.00/gal.
LED bulbs last longer if they even go out
Your hands get in the way and you do not show how the wires attach to the motor!
