My hometown boys from Winnipeg, Canada! Randy Bachman was in another Winnipeg group called the The Guess Who who wrote the song American Woman. Randy left the group and formed BTO. He and Fred Turner shared lead vocals. It is Fred singing lead on this song. As for genre it is rock but bands from the 60's and 70's blended a number of genres together. Music wasn't as pigeon holed as it is now. Blues, Jazz, country and even classical music were influences. Other BTO songs Blue Collar Looking out for number one Taking Care of Business Ain't seen nothing yet Not Fragile Rolling down the Highway Cheers 🇨🇦
Randy Bachman was part of The Guess Who & then went on to have a solo career with BTO. Both were great Canadian rock bands. BTO had a lot of great songs in the 70's such as "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet", "Takin' Care Of Business", "Hey You", "Roll On Down The Highway", "Lookin' Out For #1" etc.
I'd be shocked if you haven't at least heard the hook from their songs 'Taking Care Of Business' and 'You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet'. Both songs have been used in movies and their hooks used in a lot of commercials over the years. Randy Bachman was previously in The Guess Who, also popular Canadian rock band among reactors. Another popular Canadian rock band among reactors is April Wine, particularly their "Roller" music video.
One of my most listened to groups growing up back in the 70's.Had their first 4 or 5 albums on 8-track. Craig powerplay with Jensen tri-axial speakers.
Randy Bachman is usually singing lead but this gravelly voice is Fred Turner's (bass). Randy's brother Robbie Bachman is on drums and Blair Thornton, was also a member in the 70's, guitar, and Randy plays guitar as well. Tim Bachman was also playing with the band at one time as well. They are classic rock. They also play jazz. Try Blue Collar by BTO. It is really groovy.
Besides this an all the tunes you mentioned, they had some hits that departed from the genre a little bit. One of my favorites was Blue Collar which is very low key and bluesy. BTO is one of my all time favorites. Great reaction!
Oh wow-someone just mentioned "Blue Collar" by BTO-forgot about that one! You won't believe that song, Anwar! Hopefully somebody picks up 3 coffees for Anwar on this one. And, Anwar, if too much time goes by with no one buying coffees for this song, let me know. We HAVE to have you review that song by BTO.
At the time the Bee Gees had a song out called Mr. Natural which pre-dated their falsetto disco days-the following year they would start the falsetto voices on Nights On Broadway during the coda of the song-then go full blown falsetto afterwards changing their sound altogether.
Thanks for the briefing by debbieplato5107! Lucky you that they are your "hometown boys"! Canada has had SO MANY incredible musical groups; BTO fits right in the middle of this amazing musical and cultural legacy!
I had no headphones back then. I would put my floor speakers facing each other with a pillow in between. BTO is the first band I ever did that with! Cost me a fair amount of hearing, but that's ok. This song really takes me back!🤟
Now if you want to hear what I think is one of the hottest, sexiest, seductive sounding songs ever, try BTO's 🥾👕👖 BLUE COLLAR 👖👕🥾 Fred Turner's voice is exceptional. Sure takes me back to high school in 1973. (Studio Version)
Quite a few popular hits from BTO. When you get done with the usual suspects, try Blue Collar, which Fred Turner says is his favorite. It's laid back and jazzy with some beautiful guitar work.
BTO is a deep rabbit hole Anwar, but one that's well worth it! May also want to check out another legendary Canadian band where Randy Bachman originally came from before this group, the Guess Who. Both are enormously legendary bands with amazing discography! Hopefully we hear from both BTO fans and Guess Who fans, as I would love for you to do more reactions to both!
Ain't seen nothing yet. Love BTO they are a staple here in Canada 🇨🇦 Try Canadian rock band April Wine. Anything by them is fire. Great reaction as usual my friend and Peace out 🙏 ✌️ ☮️
Also, let's hear from you Guess Who fans out there! A very important band; a lot of great songs from the '60's with this group! Hit Mug up with a 3 coffee minimum for suggestions with this band as well!
I don't know I'm having a hell of a time trying to sign up for patreon give me a password then I go back and it says it's incorrect and I saw your note about not posting the link I was unaware I hope I still hear my song😊
I'm afraid you came into the theater halfway through the movie. Go further back with The Guess Who in the late 1960s. BTO came after Burton Comings went solo. Amicably. Try Laughing or American Woman by TGW and give his voice a listen. That'll give you more than a decade of hits.
#HOG in the house. Love your reactions and longtime sub. You don't know what you are saying when you say DISCO. I am over it and appreciate some disco, but the hatred between rockers and disco was intense. Probably similar too rap and how it portrayed itself and being exclusive from the rest of music. It could be the image of where rock came from in the 50's and early 60's with the style of fun, dancing, stage performances to what many perceived as the grown up rock and roll that was much more serious based and antiestablishment which was styled by growing hair for men, women not wearing bras and wearing jeans, hippies, protests, the music stretching the limits with electric guitars and woofers and sound systems to play it loud. Disco, in a sense, was a return to fun, club dancing music, with improved dance moves, more imaginative and creative with dressed up to show out, framed with all the glitzy surroundings of lighted dance floors, glittering globes. But one of the things that had started in rock, that many name bands like THE WHO, THE DOORS, and PINK FLOYD, and others, started to mix in synthesised music and keyboards that created sounds that some considered as taking away from musicians and the creativity in the craft. But overtime that became accepted as well. Just some thoughts.
So, BTO fans out there, let's hear from you for future suggestions! I know BTO has a TON of great hits-hit up Mug with a 3 coffee minimum suggestion for some songs! Dying to take a BTO journey!
Not sure how sampling works with the copyright laws. Back then artist were sued if a song sounded like another. George Harrison was sued for My Sweet Lord. They said he stole the tune from, He,s So Fine.
DON’T say Disco! This band would jump through the screen and choke you out, if they heard that!
They define hard rock!
Peace
I’ll help you. I love this guy but sometimes he’s way off kilter man

This is my generation music. I loved this band. It was totally rock and I’m a grandma now. Brought back a lot of memories.
BTO is another classic band. It makes me think of summer in the 70s.
The band confronted a trucker who boxed them in on the highway. The trucker said "Let it Ride". Song was made based on that line.
This album, Not Fragile, was the first album I ever owned. Got it for Christmas 1973, when I was 12.
Dude, disco wasn't a thing yet.
@MadAnthonyI this was on BTO II along with Takin' Care of Business
@@mikejohnson2127 ok. Well, I had Not Fragile.
That voice! Fred Turner's voice was so full of character.

Not even close to disco! This is pure 70's rock!
@@Bluewizard7131 Who would hear disco in that and think they were so smart ?

The drummer is the glue that holds it together. Kudos to him 👍
He just passed away a few months ago. (I think)
The drummer in this band never gets any mention.
I think he’s one of the best. He really puts in the work!
Thanks for acknowledging him.
@@LarsSmith-rv4otI think his name is Robbie Bachman and he is the younger brother of Randy who plays guitar and sometimes lead vocals.
Why aren’t they in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame as well as the Guess Who?
RIP

Blue Collar is my favorite. A different sound from them.
Subbed! I was a teen when this came out, it's great to see younger generations benefiting from this music and knowledge!
Canadian legends . ❤
DISCO???????? DUDE, NOT EVEN CLOSE. THIS IS ROCK AND ROLL!!!!
Saw BTO in concert in Halifax, NS in the mid 760's! They were great! Their opening act was Bob Segar and his band!
My teenage years in 1970s Canada were punctuated by BTO. Glad you like them 😄
Great band great reaction mugs! You gotta do “ roll on down the highway”!
Seconded!
This was my church growing up so much beautiful music back then 🙂
This song kicks ass! I saw them open up for Van Halen on the 5150 tour ! It was incredible!
Fred Turner's voice was So Powerful!!!!
Besides this an all the tunes you mentioned, they had some hits that departed from the genre a little bit. One of my favorites was Blue Collar which is very low key and bluesy. BTO is one of my all time favorites. Great reaction!
Fred Turner's vocals are up with my favourites.
Check out this song and "Roll on down the Highway" from their 2011 concert Live at the Roseland Ballroom, they still had IT!
No disco here! LOL

When I had a band back in the 80s, I adopted Randy's rhythm playing style in my playing. It worked out really well.
one of the best bands in my life of 56 years. those vocals are, and have been for a long time, the best.
Omg 64 years old love em 😊

Saw BTO at W. Palm Beach Auditorium twice. Lots of hits.
TCB⚡️ ..they used the Song later on for an Office Depot commercial.. lol
Great tune from a great band
We also used call them the Bachman brothers and Mr. Turner
BTO the very first rock album I ever bought!

Use to be Guess Who with Burton Cummings. Then Burton moved on and Randy and the boy hooked up with Turner and the rest is history 😊
My first concert was BTO opening for Van Halen! '86 in Biloxi. 5150 tour.
At least half of the speeding tickets I have received in my life are the direct result of BTO.
@@scottlaplantelaplante990 😂❤️😂
Absolutely yes!🎉😂❤
This band rocked way before disco ever came out. I believe that disco was an influenced by this.

Good Canadian Boys ..I'll tell ya, ya gotta love 'em...
Wikipedia failed to point out that the members were formally known as the "GuessWho"
Not disco but yes from the 70s...yes definitely skated to it many times
WIKIPEDIA left out one more fact. They sold out a stadium concert in the Orange Bowl concert in 6 hours.
Love ❤️ em
Great choice; need to do Takin’ Care of Business. These guys were huge in the ‘70s.
Bad ass voice
Always been huge BTO fan.
Hell yeah Mug! Nice one ☘️🚬
U need to hear all their songs I had the 8 track omg it was awesome

Sorry, no disco mix lmao kinda pre disco.
How about doing "Find Out About Love" and/or "Hold Back the Water" next. "Roll On Down the Highway" would be nice too.

Fred Turner on vocals and bass on this one.Not disco at all, just good '70's rock, had this on 8 track when it came out,and listened to it a lot.
Disco wasn’t around then just rock and roll baby
Give April Wine and Triumph a listen, they are great, under appreciated bands!

The one guitarist came from the Guess Who. Bachman. I forgot his first name. He was Mormon and didn't like the drugs and woman
