  • There are a lot of different ways that you can naturally improve how well your thyroid functions and this one is probably the most overlooked of them all:
    Managing your muscle mass.
Your muscle mass is considered a thyroid-responsive tissue and represents around 30 to 40% of your body mass.
Put another way, it may be one of the biggest targets of thyroid hormone action.
The more muscle mass you have the more active your thyroid will be.
On top of this, building more muscle mass has the potential to improve your weight, metabolism, and your thyroid all at the same time.
Interested in building more muscle mass? Here's how to do it:
    Inputs:
Thyroid patients should focus on 3 inputs: diet, thyroid function, and supplements.
For diet, you need to make sure that you are consuming enough high-quality protein at a rate of about 60 to 100 grams per day.
Thyroid input refers to thyroid management in the form of thyroid medication or natural thyroid treatments.
And supplements include additional treatments like creatine and protein powder which can make muscle building a lot easier and faster (they are not required, however).
    Outputs:
The primary output needed to stimulate muscle growth is exercise in the form of strength training.
By managing both inputs and outputs, you will turn your body into a muscle-building, calorie-burning, thyroid-optimized machine.
Mistakes that thyroid patients make when trying to lose weight: • Weight Loss With Hypot...

Thank you oh, so much for your informative/educational videos. I downloaded your suggestions for blood tests, and other information to take to my doctor, it was very helpful! My doctor listened! she ran the tests that determined that the Lavoxithyone alone was not enough for me and added Liothyronine, (T3). After struggling with weight gain, hair loss, brain fog, lethargy, muscle weakness.....etc for several years, I have now gotten my health back. I have lost 25 lbs. so far in the first three months; my hair is healthy and growing again, my mood, sleep and focus are back. All this at age 68, and I'm also applying your dietary suggestions that are helping. 👍🏼

Dr Child's, thank-you for trying to help thyroid patients, so appreciate your info. I have hypo although my problem has been keeping weight on along with hair loss! I was on compound T-3,t-4 50 mcg 2 a day, when because of these two symptoms my doctor cut it in half thinking I went into hyper. I am a muscular person in the past and although my age of 64 is a consideration, I know what muscle mass I've lost is not normal. I work out about 5 times a week pretty moderately. I now switched my thyroid to a natural desiccated 75 mcg twice a day. I do what you recommended about taking my first dose at night before sleep and second dose in the morning? All the supplements and diet you recommend I follow, lab is good on iron, D and others . Any suggestions on why my hair won't stop falling out? Sleep and stress are not a problem. Just trying to give you a better picture! It's frustrating as I feel I'm doing all the right things, my last blood test showed low t4? I've been eating shrimp and the other things to raise t4 naturally! Thks

I cannot fathom getting that much protein! 130 grams? I currently get half that. I had heard about a year ago that we have been oversold on protein. Roughly one serving of either powder or meat is 20g. So how do i get 6 servings in a day without gaining weight and going broke? How about when I’m OMAD, which I heard is good for thyroid? getting 120g of protein in one meal is not going to happen.

I don't understand how eating this much protein is supposed to work with a plant-based diet.
For example, I would have to eat 1.5 kg of kidney beans every day to get 130 g of proteins. A typical meal with legumes contains just 1/6th of that.
I'm drinking a 700 ml protein shake with hemp protein almost every day. The amount is 25 g, which together with the other ingredients corresponds to 19.5 g of pure protein per day. If I put in more, it ceases being enjoyable and gets difficult to drink. This is one of my 4 meals I manage to have per day. However, I would have to drink 6-7 of these shakes or 4.7 liters to get 130 g per day.
Even if I managed to eat that much protein (which is said to be satiating), how on earth could I accomodate all the fruits and vegetables that we are supposed to eat?
With the additional help of self-made protein bars containing nuts and seeds, I think I'm getting about 85 g of protein on most days (including occasional eggs or sheep cheese), but getting beyond that seems to be nearly impossible.

*Doc, those salt lamps are toxic. You're welcome*

    • @cobaygi407
      @cobaygi407 8 місяців тому

      Himalayan salt lamp
PLEASE THROW OUT YOUR SALT LAMPS NOW
Salt Lamps, Himalayan Salt & Sea Salt Are Pure Poison
A ridiculous charade within our community of natural health and living has been playing out for a few years. Too many people have been buying into the outright lies. The facts are hidden right in front of their eyes in hopes that nobody pays attention to them, or they simply haven't done their due diligence and are just believing what others are telling them.
Salt lamps and Himalayan salt are highly toxic. They contain extreme levels of mercury, lead, aluminum, and cadmium, just to name a few. If you heat that up in a salt lamp, you are inhaling the off-gassing of these toxic metals but also dispensing those metals into every porous surface in your home environment.
When it comes to sea salt, they will only disclose the extreme levels of aluminum and won't disclose mercury, which is highly problematic since there are 2 different seas on this planet right now and have mercury cloud warning systems. Because the amount of mercury in our ocean and even our fresh waters has increased by 300% since 1990.
84% of all fish in this world contain toxic levels of mercury in a single serving. And 82% of the world's population are walking around with toxic mercury levels. This is according to the Biodiversity Research Institute of Maine (BRI), the world's foremost expert on environmental mercury.
      Reference: ipen.org/sites/default/files/documents/BRI-IPEN-report-update-102214%20for%20web_0.pdf
And before all the detractors, cynics, and armchair warriors start attempting to defend their supplemental salt or salt lamps, I will tell you right now that scientists, naturopathic doctors, and the likes have already tried to call me out on this and had their own individual spectral analysis done of salt lamps and Himalayan salt. Every one of them found that they were highly toxic. If you're looking to argue with me on this, you'll lose because I'm about to bury you in indisputable evidence that comes directly from the suppliers and manufacturers of these products.
The first thing you need to understand is what the safe levels for these toxic metals in our drinking water are. And further understanding that 80% of it will be cleared through digestive processes, as opposed to off-gassing of Himalayan salt lamps, where you get 100% of it. But for that, you need to look to Health Canada and what is considered the safe limits of all the heavy metals and chemicals in drinking water.
      www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/environmental-workplace-health/reports-publications/water-quality/guidelines-canadian-drinking-water-quality-summary-table.html
Now, do you want to claim that Himalayan salt, which is what the Himalayan salt lamps are made of, is safe? From third-party spectral analysis, let's look at what the manufacturers of Himalayan salt identify right on their own websites.
Let's first look at the manufacturer and distributor known as The Meadow, and you will find a copy of their spectral analysis of Himalayan salt listed here:
      Reference: themeadow.com/pages/minerals-in-himalayan-pink-salt-spectral-analysis
This is not me making it up. This is identified by the distributor and manufacturer themselves. So don't attack me on this one, but let me break it down for you.
      Mercury density: 0.3 ppm
Safe levels of mercury in drinking water: 0.001 ppm
That is 300 times greater than that which is considered safe
      Aluminum density: 0.661 ppm
Safe levels of Aluminum in drinking water: 0.005 ppm
That is 132 times greater than that which is considered safe
      Cadmium density: 0.3 ppm
Safe levels of Cadmium in drinking water: 0.01 ppm
That is 30 times greater than that which is considered safe
      Lead density: 0.1 ppm
Safe levels of Lead in drinking water: 0.005 ppm
That is 20 times greater than that which is considered safe.
      .
Here is a couple of other distributors' and manufacturers' spectral analyses that have been removed from being online since I first reported this, and others began confirming the toxicity of Himalayan salt products, but thanks to the web archive, we can still see them:
      web.archive.org/web/20161224215310/www.earthsalt.net/mineral-analysis/
      web.archive.org/web/20181219061412/himalayasalt.co.za/lab-report/
This information is not something being interpreted by me. It comes directly from the manufacturers and the distributors of these products.
Now let's take a look at sea salt. And what you will find is they will not even disclose mercury levels. But that's fine. There are other highly toxic metals in sea salt.
Let's use cure zone's Celtic Gray Sea Salt as an example for aluminum, and this is going to rock your world. Because they try to hide it in percentages, but it's very easy to convert the percentage to 2 ppm.
      www.curezone.org/foods/salt/Celtic_Sea_Salt_Analysis.asp
Are you ready for this? Because you may want to sit down!
      Aluminum density: 95 ppm
Safe levels of aluminum in drinking water: 0.005 ppm
That is 19,000 times greater than that which is considered safe
As you will see above, they will not show cadmium, lead, or mercury. It's only a partial spectral analysis, but if 19,000 times greater than the safe limits of aluminum isn't enough for you, then I don't know what to tell you.
Because nobody else wants to disclose a real mineral analysis of sea salt, let's look at Redmond's ancient sea salt, an animal product. Still, unless they are refining it heavily, this is probably what's really in Redmonds salt.
      www.norganics.com/label/Redmond10Analysis.pdf
Once again, even in animal product salt, they don't want to disclose the mercury levels in salt that comes in the products that they mine in the most toxic state in the USA.
      Aluminum density: 215 ppm
Safe levels of Aluminum in drinking water: 0.005 ppm
That is 43,000 times greater than that which is considered safe
      Cadmium density: 0.27 ppm
Safe levels of Cadmium in drinking water: 0.01 ppm
That is 27 times greater than that which is considered safe
      Lead density: 0.6 ppm
Safe levels of Lead in drinking water: 0.005 ppm
That is 120 times greater than that which is considered safe.
Now, let's talk about iodized table salt which is sodium chloride with a natural iodine bond. We are told in our community to oppose it because of the anti-caking agent and ammonium bleaching.
But ammonia is a natural element that occurs in the human body and is flashed off long before the products ever hit the market. It and the anti-caking agents are acceptable for use in all organic foods.
I personally do not own saltshaker of any type and haven’t for more than 20 years. I do not use salt in my food. I get all the sodium I need from real meat, raw vegetables, and fruits. Very few of us need supplemental salt.
The reason it exists in our foods is mainly because it's addictive. It's every bit as addictive as sugar, and the food industry knows it.
But if anybody tells you that Himalayan salt or sea salt is much healthier for you than regular table salt, they are either lying to you or buying into the lie.

I don’t like the slower talking. Now it seems he’s on slow motion 😣 😣 I like his normal cadence and rhythm. I hate this slow speech I can’t barely stand to listen.

Agreed. His info is good though, so just put it on a faster playback speed (1.25 in the YT settings).

Funny, I was so happy he slowed down. :) The energetic speed was what was keeping me from watching these important videos. However, I agree it's a little bit overdone, feels like trying too hard to be slow. Maybe a happy medium between the two? Love your stuff! Thank you, thank you.

Heavily disagree. Complex carbs are your enemy (gluten and sugars).
Simple carbs are your friend (rice, potatoes, quinoa, buckwheat, chickpeas, ext).
Don't get confused for minute made rice or prepackaged potatoes products. I'm talking home cooked real food. Eat those carbs and you'll feel amazing.

@@brucemaher7621 Hey most of my diet is meat: eggs, chicken, beef, bacon, ext. With a small amount of veggies if I'm honest. But without simple carbs I'd have zero energy. Protein gives you strength, carbs give you fuel. I'd be shaky and need to eat every 2 hours if I only ate meat. Not to mention horrible bowel movements. To each there own I guess. I'm one of the rare few that has a fast metabolism and hashimotos.
