Being from Derby myself this was very interesting to watch, I lived around that area and managed to get on that bridge a few times, the area can be very dangerous at the best of times but you managed to get a great video.
Always wondered what Derby Friargate station area looked like, thanks for showing us. Maybe a drone would get some good glimpses with a birds eye view!
I live Breadsall Hilltop and often walk the former train line which is now the Great northern greenway , see where former Breadsall Station was. I recall the viaduct sadly being blown up , i was very young but i remember . find it interesting. plus there's another Handyside Bridge side of Darley park/ Chester Green
Very Nice indeed, I did see photos from the recent fire and couldn't believe it but another side of me wondered what was there to set on fire! The closest the Great Northern have been to Staffordshire is at Stafford, the line took trains to Uttoxeter and onto Derby Friargate. However the trackbed between Stafford and Stafford Common Station is mostly still there, it a walk that I would live to do in the future. Thank you for your comment.
I had a friend who visited the area not too long ago and he managed to get into the first area to have a look around, so i'm not sure if they recently replaced it during the lockdown?
@@Sim0nTrains One was a quite small one outside the Litchurch Lane Carriage works opposite side of the road, and the other one was a working bus garage full of blue buses, i would be able to find the small one again, but not the larger one, if it is still there.....
Thanks for recording this. Still hopeful of the area being developed sympathetically to include the GN structures.

Very informative Simon! I walk the Great Northern cycle path regularly, from Mickleover Station.
Thank you, just been having a look and it's looks like a nice line to walk from but can you walk the trackbed from Mickleover to Derby just wondering?
@@Sim0nTrains no, it’s overgrown or built on.
@@peteowen3539 That's a shame, thanks

@@Sim0nTrains part of the building made by wood too
@@annamcuthbert3993 Yes, think it the flooring and the beams to support the roof, not 100% sure on that. sure there was other parts as well.
@@Sim0nTrains yes it was

I was wandering around Derby a few years ago, and i came across 2 different tram depots, i wonder if they are still there/
Lee Hayes I be honest, first I heard of these trams depots. I have a look into it.

I know you are busy but I hope you don't mind me asking about the huge 70 of the products and the price is 49 pounds
Interesting 🧐
Great video, do you know the date, or name, of the map at 2.06?
It's from the National Library of Scotland and dates between 1892 - 1914, I honestly find that the more detailed map on National Library of Scotland.
Thanks for the video I live in Derby and yes that area is a little dodgy to say the least.
No worries, it was dodgy when I was there filming and felt uncomfortable.
sadly was another fire
Great Video thanks. fyi they are planning to demolishing the station and arches. Disgraceful
