Both Aoashi and blue lock are fire. Both have realistic components. In blue lock, they are exaggerated a lot, making everything more hype. However, in Aoashi, everything is 100% possible and realistic. It’s whatever you like, as someone who played football growing up, I really enjoy both.

Watched Blue Lock before and it's great. The unique story, animation, hype, and etc. Then I discovered Aoashi. Great story, learned a lot about football to youth development, tactics, positions, roles, leagues, how hard to become a pro and etc. After I watched Blue Lock I read the manga and same for Aoashi. I mainly play basketball but these two anime made me want to know more about football and I think both are great.
Dayz and Ao Ashi are those that show how frustrating football can be and that you have to work your ass off to improve and be able to compete, Blue Lock is for me a Spokkon Shonen that is really fun to watch and finally Tsubasa is my childhood and the childhood for millions in South America and Spain, Captain Tsubasa holds a very special place in my heart

Ao ashi, Giant Killing and Days doesnt get market. They are definitely top of the tier if they have longer episodes. Im following them in manga. Major is also masterpiece, sadly its doesnt focus on minor characters but have amazing character development of Daigo from his father to his son. Same as Knight in the Area, Blue Lock is definitely unique, Sayonara no Cramer is underrated too. I dont watch older football anime series yet or sports, but im backtracking them in my watchlists. Once i finish Baseball/Car Race genre.
I think if you've been into football before, you'll love Ao Ashi approach to football which is very realistic compared to blue lock which is more fantasy like. Both are great and it comes down to preference.

I have read the manga of blue lock but pure anime I take Inazuma eleven, but if the whole manga of blue lock gets animated then blue lock is probably number one.
my fav before blue lock was obviously captain tsubasa since i saw that as a kid, but after that my fav was Area no Kishi before Blue Lock released. Someone else relates to Area no Kishi too? It always brings me so many memories about my life with soccer.

If you like the great game, do not miss Blue Luck and Aoashi. Both actually uses football/soccer philosophies and club level basics which makes them more realistic, especially if you played when you were younger or are playing now.

Ao ashi being number 2 is simply outrageous Ifnyou read the manga panels almost most of the time 60% of it is about football ⚽, the author brings up personal relationships and character development maybe 40% of the time this is really commendable because even people who were well versed in the sport cant add that much knowledge into the manga Whereas BL, just seems like a football manga, but could be substituted for literally any other sport, i agree the drama is compelling, but the moment i open to read manga it is all about devour, ego etc. very less abt football Ao ashi beats everything by a mile and i dont know why giant killing was on 5th probably because its on a managers point of view and slow pacing but reading these manga give out the complexity of the sport.

for any genuine football fans or fans looking for a more complex story, ao ashi is the best option out there, especially if you are willing to read the manga. blue lock admittedly has a more hype anime but i’m caught up with both mangas and while blue lock is good, it’s hit a ceiling story wise (dw it is still hype and all) whereas ao ashi pushed further and further with the story and depth on football. As it stands i would have ao ashi as the best sports manga in existence, over slam dunk (what i would’ve previously considered number 1) and haikyuu (the anime that got me into sports animanga)

Blue lock is about logic and improve their own natural talents. Animation and efusivity is way better, jm a guy from '83 who watched tsubasa and days as well
Aoashi has better detailing of skills it was my first choice, i really like it when the main character suddenly got his special vission, it has combine of skilled side characters, best coach, and competition. Then i chose to watch blue lock, it has better animation than Aoashi but blue lock is more about unnatural powers and boosts although it also has good training, competition and skillful side characters.
Captain tsubasa is the all time goat football anime in the sport anime history starting since 1980 and end wtih road to 2002 world cup absolute goat of the anime.
The best football anime is captain tsubasa no anime go even close the story,the players,evolution of the players, teams and clubs even more realistic considering the player are from japan so they struggle against european/south american and other teams they only win because of the genius tsubasa, especialy when tsubasa and hyuga decide to play for eurpean club it a masterpiece love it

Ifnyou read the manga panels almost most of the time 60% of it is about football ⚽, the author brings up personal relationships and character development maybe 40% of the time this is really commendable because even people who were well versed in the sport cant add that much knowledge into the manga
Whereas BL, just seems like a football manga, but could be substituted for literally any other sport, i agree the drama is compelling, but the moment i open to read manga it is all about devour, ego etc. very less abt football
Ao ashi beats everything by a mile and i dont know why giant killing was on 5th probably because its on a managers point of view and slow pacing but reading these manga give out the complexity of the sport.

for any genuine football fans or fans looking for a more complex story, ao ashi is the best option out there, especially if you are willing to read the manga. blue lock admittedly has a more hype anime but i’m caught up with both mangas and while blue lock is good, it’s hit a ceiling story wise (dw it is still hype and all) whereas ao ashi pushed further and further with the story and depth on football. As it stands i would have ao ashi as the best sports manga in existence, over slam dunk (what i would’ve previously considered number 1) and haikyuu (the anime that got me into sports animanga)
Captain Tsubasa first series...and Days. in my opinion were the best... why? because it was all about soccer..no superpowers and other things just soccer and character development.
Blue lock is about logic and improve their own natural talents. Animation and efusivity is way better, jm a guy from '83 who watched tsubasa and days as well

Aoashi has better detailing of skills it was my first choice, i really like it when the main character suddenly got his special vission, it has combine of skilled side characters, best coach, and competition. Then i chose to watch blue lock, it has better animation than Aoashi but blue lock is more about unnatural powers and boosts although it also has good training, competition and skillful side characters.
there is nothing unnatural about blue lock, it involves regular balling moves that are made to look unnatural
Captain tsubasa is the all time goat football anime in the sport anime history starting since 1980 and end wtih road to 2002 world cup absolute goat of the anime.
Galactic football should be up there though. Even though its not pure football. It deserves a spot.
The best football anime is captain tsubasa no anime go even close the story,the players,evolution of the players, teams and clubs even more realistic considering the player are from japan so they struggle against european/south american and other teams they only win because of the genius tsubasa, especialy when tsubasa and hyuga decide to play for eurpean club it a masterpiece love it
