On my 2006 passat, it was a poor weld on the passenger side. Drove me crazy. Replaced the windshield, cleaned the drains from the sunroof. Replaced the plastic channeling in the airblower box. My window glass installer spotted it. Took it to VW, they did nothing. My fix was silicone sealant. This flooded my car several times before it was finally fixed. I knew the general location of the leak after removing the pillar covers and devising a sprinkler to flood the areas simulating heavy rain. Then I could trace the droplets. What a pain!

We are having the same type of issue, replaced windshield, shop cleaned and inspected sunroof drains. Thinking its the roof rack leaking.

I just had one through the roof shark fin. An auto detail shop partially dropped the rear headliner to tighten the bolt and the gasket resealed itself. Thanks for the tips to get rid of the creases.
