      @@fpvdestroyer7128 Witaj! Fakt - ciężko znaleźć fajne miejsce do latania i lądowisko. Ja bym wybrał szybowiec, choć sam zastanawiałem się nad samolotem.

    Very nice Video. I also have the Phoenix and can confirm all you can see here.
    But I hav a strongly recommended suggestion for improvement. Joyplanes RC2 is using a 4S battery. After starting with 3S, I also used a 4S and changed the propeller to a 6,5/12. The motor can do it and provides lot of power.
    BUT WHAT HAPPENED: After launch with little throttle I switched to full throttle in abt 50 metres hight, and in the same moment I heard a big bang. The front end of the fuselage broke, the motor was coming out, propeller broke, only the cables prevented the motor disappearing completely. I could do a save emergency landing with heart rate 180.
    So I strongly recommend to strengthen the front of fuselage with epoxy and carbon- or glass material. The plastic is much to weak at the front.

      Wow that is one crazy story. Sounds like your plane could not handle the added stress from the larger prop and stronger battery. Better stick to stock recommendations.

      I had a very similar experience with my Phoenix 2000 about 10 years ago. Only difference was I was using the recommended 3S power system. The weak link is the mounting hub of the plastic propeller blades, that area where the bolt anchors the blade to the spinner. It simply can't cope with the loads imposed by startup,loads imposed by full throttle running, and I suspect upon landing when one blade may be dangling down and makes contact with the ground, weaking / cracking the material around the bolt hole.
      Anyway, during powered flight, one blade let go, the out of balance situation resulted in the exact same damage experienced by the original poster above.
      Since that day, I now only use quality folding propeller spinners, hardware AND carbon fiber propeller blades from quality manufacturers. Zero issues since 😊

    Nice review and lovely aerial filming. One warning, for those who have RC aircraft designed for 3 cell LiPo batteries, please check the specifications on the ESC and motor before using a 4 cell battery. They may fail catastrophically causing loss of your plane and possibly injury to others.

I will probably finish my lessons in a few weeks. I'm currently fixing up a Goldberg Sophisticated Lady 2 meter glider that I inherited from a club member. It's a 2 channel glider that I plan to hi-start launch. Would this model be a good next step for a 4 channel model that can be programmed for crow mixing and the like or would something else be better? Thanks....I just discovered your channel today.

      You need the lipo batteries, 3S from 2000mah to 4000 mah and a charger for them, you need your radio system with receiver, try Flysky i6, and that's pretty much it. A better radio will be a frsky, or other brads with more channels but the Flysky i6 is enough to begin with.

    • @subzero674
      @subzero674 4 роки тому +4

      Unplug the battery. Move your stick to full throttle. Plug in battery. Hear four beeps, then one more beep. Move stick to zero throttle. Your ESC should now be in brake mode. I have a flight controller installed. For me these steps worked using the Outputs tab in iNav, but not using the throttle stick. I expect that without the flight controller, you can do it with the throttle stick directly.

    Good video. The only issue I have is the quality of the airplane. Just read the comments and you'll get an idea of some of the issues. Personally, I don't like the foam. It may be resistant to dents and dings but if you market a plane for the beginner you can be assured that it's going to take some damage at one point or another which brings me to my point. Foam is really tough to do any meaningful repair to. Longer wings only makes things worse, think basic physics, lever arm length and the stresses placed on a wing root if you dig a tip in during landing... Ask 10 flyers about foam planes and you'll get 10 different answers, I know. I guess it's up to you to decide. Do your research, look at comments and pick a manufacturer that has a solid history in delivering quality and reliability. Personally, I don't think that Banggood fits any of those criteria.

    Beautiful flying. I flew my Phoenix 2000 today and it was tons of fun and also my first Rc plane. Only problem is I came into land and when I turned the flaps on, the glider pulled straight up, stalled, then went into a nosedive. I quickly went max throttle and pulled up and it missed the ground by about 20cm. Do you know why the flaps would have done that?

    • @Joyplanes
      @Joyplanes  5 років тому +3

      That's normal because the flaps generate more lift, I manually counteract that pushing some down elevator, but if you make a mix in your radio to automatically put down elevator when the flaps are active that would save you some stress.

      @@Joyplanes I had the same problem on 4S. I tried to address that by using a 60Amp ESC (same type/factory, different name), though same cutting-out issue. Tried another 60A ESC (from Eflite, used for the 300 Extra 3D 1.3m), which solved the problem (though has no airbrake). I flew it for a few weeks (short bursts of full power at a time), though finally I had a longer high-speed run (maybe 65-70 mph, on full power for maybe 10-15 seconds after already flying a bit faster for a few minutes) and burnt out the motor during a low (very good looking :) ) fly-by, which unfortunately shortcut the ESC temporarily and turned and pushed/blocked one aileron servo and the rudder servo in one direction, pushing the plane into the ground after an uncontrollable sideward stall. Back at home, I verified this BEC issues by plugging in the battery again. Shortcut motor still plugged in (and smoking as expected), the 2 servos were locked while others were still working, then all started working again once I unplugged the motor a few seconds later). So I replaced the damaged motor with the same stock type, still using the Eflite ESC which still works, and am flying the plane on 3S, for the time being with its usual 50mph or so top speed without dive.
      So I guess the 4023/1050kv could not take my 5200mah/80C 4S batteries after all. I am still on the search for a 4S+ capable motor that could reliably hotrod the Phoenix and that I can mount (in reverse?). Any thoughts?

      5000 mAh from hobbyking, it only works fine if you are not putting additional weight.

    Volantex uses cheap plastic gear servo's that strip easily.
    Have 2 fail during testing on 2 different models.
    Better to buy the kit and install metal gear servo's like those white hobbyking ones.
    Then you can also choose a better motor prop combination; a bigger diameter lower pitched one on a lower kv motor is a much more efficient setup then the included fast turning plastic one.
    The Graupner cam prop / precision spinner are good , not cheap though.

      those i have good experiences with but keep in mind that even these are not totally bulletproof; a bad crash still can damage the gears or the case. (buy a spare;)
      In the fuse you have room for bigger ones so you can use even stronger/ more robust ones there and if you want to spend a bit more you can use the wing servo's like
      hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-tgy-811-slim-wing-ds-mg-servo.html
      There is no need oto use the same servo's for all functions as long its symmetrical ; use same servo's for flaps and same same for ailerons but you can use different for ailerons then for flaps.
      No need ot go for a fast servo better choose a stronger "slower" one since "slow" is still fast enough.
      And get a receiver so you can give every servo/esc its own channel.
      Got the asw28 and mix flaps to act like ailerons for better control.
      Also moving the ailerons up a little when the flaps go down slows the model even more and makes sure any stall is straight ahead. These gliders are great to experiment with. :)

    Excellent video. Professional cinematography! I bought this one two weeks ago, but I'm a raw beginner, still using the RF Simulator to learn how to fly. In the meanwhile, I'm trying to connect the channels to see if the servos work. They don't! I managed to get the FlySky FS-i6X to bind with the FS-iA10B receiver, but I'm getting no movement from the servos. I see your servos move without your battery connected. I'm puzzled. What's that blue box with the yellow inside the fuselage at 3:42?

    • @Joyplanes
      @Joyplanes  5 років тому +1

      Hi, the servos should be connected to the right channel and the blue thing is a battery just to power the servos, basically a battery pack of 4X AA batteries.

    • @abdrx
      @abdrx 5 років тому

      About the blue box, I think it is a battery in order to power up the receiver and servos without sending power to ESC (you can see that the XT60 is not linked to a lipo). It allows you to check that receiver is working and servos too, without any risk with the propeller (you can see propeller mounted) if motor starts.

    • @JohanBesterphotos
      @JohanBesterphotos 5 років тому

      @@abdrx Thank you for your reply! I do not have a battery pack, but I managed to get the FlySky FS-i6X to bind with the FS-iA10B receiver using the supplied bind cable and 3S battery. (I didn't bother charging it, as I'm not going to fly before I'm really good in the simulator). Also, I didn't connect the ailerons and flaps yet; only the elevator and rudder. (The wings are too large for comfort, so I put them away intending to test them later).
      The four wires sticking out of the fuselage are labelled CH2, CH3, CH4, CH5, so I connected them all to the same labelled pins on the receiver. Initially, I had them all connected while I tried to bind, but that didn't work until I disconnected them all first. Now I have them connected again, switching on the transmitter, with the XT60 plugged in, but nope nothing moves!
      Any suggestions from you will be greatly appreciated.
      Edit: Also the ESC is connected where I had the bind cable connected.

      @@JohanBesterphotos Sorry, I don't know about this radio, but is you are sure at 100% that transmitter and receiver are bind, it has to work.
      But on some radio, you have to configure the radio by creating a model in order to make it work.
      and did you put the connector in the right direction ?
      Check some tuto on youtube.
      Sorry, can't do better ...

    • @JohanBesterphotos
      @JohanBesterphotos 5 років тому

      @@abdrx There are so many possible configurations and I may have connected the ESC upside-down! By the way, the plugs are so tight that I have to use a lot of force to plug and unplug them-not very friendly to my fingers. The manual is not very helpful either. Thank you for answering. I'm not too worried yet though, as I still have to put in many more hours on the simulator. I realize that to continue with my new hobby, I'll have to learn more about electronics and go and buy some tools, like a glue gun, soldering iron and pliers. I like challenges though. : )

    I have the Phoenix 2000 and I do not like it much. Not enough motor cooling, no rudder authority, heavy because of the plastic fuselage, hard to disassemble the wing in two pieces, pitches up very strong when opening the throttle and it's a fast glider and I prefer slow ones. I see they did at least improve on the wing and cooling.

    • @Joyplanes
      @Joyplanes  5 років тому

      The cooling is ok in this version, it is very slow with flaps extended and not extremely fast when flying normally. I'd say is very good.
