Been flying it a bit more and really enjoy the lazy type of flying I can do with it. Power to altitude and just glide around for a minute or more. Then do it again. The little 1300 3S lasts over 10min. Can't wait for the warm summer days where I might find a thermal to help keep it aloft a bit longer.
Hello Steffen. thks for your video ! For sharing. Kavan here in Europe is well known. It's a Czech brand. Personally, I've been flying their SWIFT-S1 for over a year; it's an acrobatic glider in fullspan 2m40, but it's also a very respectable glider. You also have the Twin Shark, a good foam model with flaps and ailerons. Kavan Pulse 2200 v2 is one of their best sellers (as a sport glider). But only Alpha model is for beginners. Their other models are much more powerful, and you'll need to master three-axis flying before venturing out. So, I wouldn't recommend them for beginners. Kavan Alpha 1m50 is similar to the Multiplex Easyglider 4 (which I own) and is perfectly suited to beginners, even after an initial introduction to dual control flying. Its small size makes it easy to transport. And it's lightweight. Nethertheless, beware of the wind (reserve it for winds < 15-20 km/h). Enjoy your flights with Kavan 🙂 JPhilippe - France
Thanks for the comments. Really appreciate it. This Kavan Alpha is a gentle flyer for sure. I was going to get the Pulse, but it was out of stock.. That said, I'm enjoying a plane that is ZERO stress while flying. Its a nice break between my fast EDF flights. Thanks again. Will
@@SteffenRC Let me warn you Steffen. It will be very different and more ... sportive with a Pulse (due to its powerful motorization ; less docile than the Alpha) you can believe me 🙂 All models created by Kavan usually flight very well Enjoy European gliders ! JPhilippe - France (personnally I fly with FMS ASW-17, Kavan Swift S1, Multiplex EasyGlider4 and my last model is Multiplex Lentus; 4 excellent foam models that fly perfectly when properly adjusted and centered)
@ thanks for the info. I fly all types of planes, from heavy warbirds to fast EDFs. So, the speed of the Pulse won’t be an issue. In fact kinda looking forward to it.
Sorry I didn't point that out. Often I would just use power to gain altitude, then throttle to zero and glide. I'm not an experienced glider pilot, however this plane really surprised me at how long a small 1300 3S battery would last by powering up for a short burst, then gliding until I nearly land. Then do it again. Can't wait for summer and trying to find some thermals to soar.
Seems a bit pricey at over $225 on the FPV website. Also, currently sold out. Looks well made and easy to assemble. I generally like T-Tails on a glider. Thanks for the good video
Thanks for the comments. Appreciate it. I'm sure there are others for less. I'm pretty impressed with the Kavan foam quality.. Very dense/sturdy. I hope to get a mess of time with this plane and report back with a long term use video..
Hmm.. not sure how to take that.🤔. Ha... It's very stout.. But, not sure if it can take the insane G-forces that little concendo can take. I'll be testing it more in the near future..
A very good review - a very impressive glider with a great glide ratio. I like that she has ailerons and has nice maneuverability. I am glad you didn't have to practice a water landing. Are you all located next to the river?
Thanks for the comments. She's a good plane for sure. Gonna be fun doing touch n goes in the grass. Yes, a major river is on the other side of the tree line in front of us. 3-4 weeks ago, the water was 10' where I'm standing... The field is dry, but everything is covered with a light fine dust/mud..
I have the UMX Conscendo. Holy cow thats a great plane. This Alpha is more of a slower, easy flying powered glider. Kavan has another plane "Pulse" that is like the Conscendo. I might get one, just to play around.
Awesome! Been Looking at them also. Nice and clean build.

nice flight at Buder!
Thanks... Appreciate it Booger Meister...

GREAT video. The Bottom of the wing should have been completely Black for visibility. Not the top. Other than that, I'll keep looking at this glider.
No idea why they designed it that way.
Thanks for the comment. Yes, if the bottom was black it would be much easier to see. But, it wouldn't look as cool in the Thumbnail..😂
Thank you! 💙
Your welcome. I look forward to getting a few more Kavan planes in my hanger in time.
Looks like a cool plane
You need one, now that you are short a plane for a little while..😂
Fantastic video
Thanks.. Appreciate it.
Great review, been looking for a 1.5 sailplane, might of found it.....
Its a solid plane. I'm looking forward to really pushing it.
Anthony at FPV Builds is a great dude. Very cool glider. Nice review Will!
Thanks Adam. I agree, I'll be getting another Kavan from him sometime in the future. Great planes..
Looks like a fun glider. Have you been able to resolve the problem with the right wing light?
Funny thing.. The light started working on the last flight. (I comment about it in the video 12:52..). Other than that issue, its a solid plane.
Nice video. I would like to have known when you were in glider mode vs. powered mode. Your commentary did not point this out. I enjoy your videos.

Do they carry the full kavan line up?
I'm not sure Jerry, They have several different types, civilian, stol, gliders and flat foamie. Checkout the link in the description.. Thanks Will
@ does it feel as stiff as your little one?
Hmm.. not sure how to take that.🤔. Ha... It's very stout.. But, not sure if it can take the insane G-forces that little concendo can take. I'll be testing it more in the near future..

You forgot the four screws on the bottom of wing joiner
Hmm. There is no mention of that in the documentation and no screws supplied. The Wing Joiner was a solid piece..
You had me worried.. So, I just checked.. The screws were already installed... Thanks Will
Hard to beat the conscendo. Has anyone flown them both.
I have the UMX Conscendo. Holy cow thats a great plane. This Alpha is more of a slower, easy flying powered glider. Kavan has another plane "Pulse" that is like the Conscendo. I might get one, just to play around.
