I stayed at the Mandapa Reserve in 2014, fabulous place. But what I remember most from that experience were four woman who were collecting mud from the river, putting about 25 KG of the mud in a basket and then carrying it on their heads to a nearby construction site where the mud was used as brick mortar. Grueling work.

Beware, Siloam hospital is all about business. In my experience, it was literally 26 times more expensive than an other hospital who did a great job by the way. (Siloam asked for over 2000usd for 10 stitches I left for an other hospital and paid 77usd).
It's because Siloam hospital is a private hospital. If you need a cheaper hospital then you should go to a government hospital.
Its a long story sir. Never go by the name of Siloam everywhere in Indonesia. Its just complete rip off if you dont have private insurance.

I love Bali, it can be raw and confronting, but also a place of great beauty.
It would be interesting to know what you mean about confronting. Been there six times, but cant say i have been confronted in any way. My only negatives are extremely bad garbage handling and constant demand for visitors to spend more and more money. Its not enough for me to stop visiting though hehe, only travel restrictions can stop me.

I was in Bali just before the pandemic.. it must be great not without a lot of tourists.. I got to go back..
Doctors made mistake, and I was misdiagnosed in SIngapore best hospital. But my Indonesian friend once told me that the hospital you visited in Bali wasn't considered good hospital in Jakarta, just fancy.
