This doesn't smack of the truth at all. Margrethe would not dishonor the late Henrik by speaking of him so to Mary, when Mary was around to witness his disgruntlement with his title and position. Mary is much more involved in royal life and supports Frederik in her role as consort. They dated long enough to know if they want to be together and their family seems affectionate.

It is absolutely ridiculous to suggest that Frederik will become distant from his lovely wife just because his father did. It was well known that Henrik was annoyed that he wasn't made King, but the situation is completely different - Frederik will be the King when his mother dies or abdicates.

Henrik was prince consort, just like prince Philip was prince consort to QEII. It is all a part of the grand traditions of the theatre play called Royalty. Henrik wasn't popular until he died. Why? He was above his new people. He didn't speak our language very well and people didn't take that very well. He fled to Caix once he became demented and made a fool of himself. He knew he was going to be laid to rest in Roskilde Domkirke together with his Queen, but I guess he got his last word. The Queen honoured his wish. She will be laid to rest alone in Roskilde Domkirke, where all other sovereigns of Denmark are resting.

However, Mary's husband is not like his father in one respect as he is the crown Prince born and bred. Mary is his wife, so Frederick has the status already. It is such a pity that Henrik could not have been supportive to his wife like the late Prince Philip was to our late and much beloved Queen Elizabeth. I think he must have been a bit frustrated as well, but he was always there for her. I hope Frederick comes to his senses soon and realises what he has to lose.
If I recall, Prince Philip was also accused, many times, of having affairs after marrying the then Princess Elizabeth. Supposedly, she turned a blind eye but we'll never know for sure, unless we conduct a seance, if the rumors were true. Not that it matters now, of course.

This piece totally fails to explain the fact that yes, Prince Henrik was a bit disgruntled about his situation and he certainly wasn’t always treated with the respect he deserved from my fellow countrymen. He was intelligent, had a wast knowledge on many subjects, was a musician, author and sculptor in his own right, spoke five languages and he had been a French diplomat. He gave up a lot to follow his heart when he married the Queen.

As an Australian living in Denmark, I don't think that you can say that Frederik will turn out like his late father. It was a completely different kettle of fish. The Press in Denmark made a lot of trouble for Henrik. He had a French accent and he was portraited poorly. He was Prince Consort and felt to be always in the shadow of Margrete. If she had of been wiser she would have found ways to elevate him, but chose not too. I think that Frederik will rise to the occasion and make Danes proud, as he is a fine young man and he is King. If you watch Christian's 18th Birthday Ball, and see he and his parents along with the Queen, greeting guests, the couples body language is not good. Mary avoids Frederick's gaze the whole time, avoids any conversation with him and even though they are standing right along side each other, there is quite a gap between them.
