Orchestra Tips: Overuse of Colle'

There are little tiny things that separate good players from true professionals. In orchestra, it becomes obvious to me within 5 minutes of watching people. Rhythmic clarity, appropriate bow articulations, and awareness of those around you are 3 biggies.

Good to know, Laura. I have wondered about the extent of Colee. At least I wasn't an offender, however I might have been, had I played in an orchestra. Being in my 80's, I don't expect to ever play in an orchestra (darn). I appreciate the fact that you were moved to give me this info. Sorry for the frustration, but it served a purpose.

I completely agree, and I find it annoying as he##. It is unnecessary to look like a flying octopus. A proper bow arm does not require Colle'.
Colle' is at this point has become an obnoxious affectation. I even think it's pompous..
