I am so grateful for all of my fans who have kept me afloat and continued to cheer me on since I first started. I have tried and failed with music several times throughout the course of my short life. So now, to see so many people enjoying my work and getting it and gravitating towards it? It's been the most validating feeling I could have ever possibly asked for. I don't know what to say. I'm full of so many emotions and cannot believe I'm releasing my own first EP, entirely written and produced by myself. It's not the best in the world, but it's my art nonetheless. The visualizers for this EP aren't nearly as lengthy as they used to be but a lot of love and work was still put into them. As was the entire EP album itself. I will put separately, the things I adore the most about each song based on my own life experiences. Sorry for such a long text! I just wanna thank you, Yam, for helping me cope with my insecurities, C-PTSD, GAD and depression in some way. I hope this year and the next ones to come give you the recognition you really deserve: The Chase: I believe this one is focused on the savage and aggressive part of obsession, where the material part is the one dominant "I got my eyes on the prize". The obsessor doesn't care about the consequences of chasing their target, neither for themself or the victim. My groomer wouldn't care about what others think "I got eyes all over the walls, and you can tell that to all of your friends", "Pathetic dog, call me what I am". He would turn himself into nothing just for me to reciprocate his love even while being aware of my non feelings for him "If she wanted me to kill myself I'd probably understand". He would be convinced that by harassing and by pushing my limits I would fall "She don't know it yet, she in love with me", "I'm obsessed with her, give her everything". And when I'd get angry at the way he treated me he would bring up how much he sacrificed just for me, and for my "well being", even though all of this show was just for himself "Baby, you'll never meet no one like me", "I'm on my hands, and I'm down on my knees." Every time I'd feel like running away, he'd chase me back and "trap me in his ribcage" of trauma bond and codependency. YeaYeaYea: This one gives me Backstabber successor vibes, I had a friend who I considered close constantly treat me like I was nothing, and she would say that I'm a drama queen and that I'm annoying when trying to vent to her or even try to talk normally. She would constantly ignore me, treat the art I made for her like if it was nothing special and it would deeply hurt me. I'd try many times to get her attention desperately, push aside my feelings and try to reach the unreachable, cause' I really thought she was there for me, but no. She said many times I was her best friend, but was it really true when all she did was to push me to the side, obsess over her girlfriend at the time and talk shit behind me? "I ain't defined by a nobody" is something my past self needed the most during this period of time. I would have to stand my groomer and try to bear with a friendship that never was with someone that didn't show the slightest care for me. "Catch me in the green, ya wearing red flags". Take Control: The desire of dominance is so present in this song; "Said you like it when a woman's on top". Women have always had this image of submission attached to them because that is considered feminine by most. This song fights the insecurity that comes with being a woman, it is incredibly hard to actually express what you want as there is always some kind of social pressure, especially in topics such as sex. Sometimes we want to feel empowered and be the ones in control and that's completely okay! "I'm ya monarch, yeah, I'm ya queen." I always wanted to have control of my life, not depend on others to live and reach satisfaction, but from a very young age people throw comments that inherently assume your submission to others in any matter. Fortunately we live now in a time where a man doesn't have to destroy himself to earn his life, where a woman can be an admired individual, and where non-binary people can break from their insecurities and show their true colors to the world. Centipide Legs: I love how this song compliments Poison and Return To Sender in some way, where the former two embody the rage caused by "combin' through the lies" and do not hesitate to fight back, this one clearly resembles that even with all the awareness, there is still a part of you that is submissive to the trauma and feels complecent about continuing the cycle, "keeping your head on tight". Although the topics this song handles were with a mother-child relationship in mind, the constant denial of abuse and trauma bond that cause one to "crawl back to you either way" are not exclusive to an abusive maternal figure. I see not only my mother in this song, but also my groomer and even my partner. They all at some point (intentionally or not) have "broke all my centipede legs" by sinking themselves in self pity to not only keep me around but also as a form of victim blaming, where I was the cause of all their misery so I felt the need to redeem myself to them by "avoidin' the red flags like a good devotee should". (By the way, me and my boyfriend are on good terms now!) Drowning: I grew up in an environment where my family would constantly consume alcohol and tabacco to cope with their traumas and their flaws, me and my brothers would suffer from their alcoholism, being exposed to violence originated by it very young. I would myself develop an addiction to biting my nails excessively by the anxiety my evironment caused and this song describes perfectly the zenith of this situation. "Never felt love, never felt right" in this place, "repetitious painful history". One wants to break the cycle of addiction, especially when knowing this only causes pain to not only oneself but others as well, but sometimes relapsing is inevitable, "Heaven knows I tried". Such a cold and lonely sentiment this song gives. Paragon: The other side of The Chase, a song that talks about the obsession in the idealization of someone, rather than obsessing on them in a material way like the first song of the EP. The lines of the chorus that say "You kind of sound like Jesus when you talk", "Your body is of Venus when you walk" fit perfectly to my groomer comparing me to god-like figures, that's the picture he'd have of me, that's what he saw all the time. And even with all of that, he did experience love for something, a very toxic form of love formed in idealization and obsession, something so unhealthy, but yet it was love, and he'd be "devoted to my flame", no matter how much me and others would remind him that not only I was way younger than him, but also that I never experienced any type of attraction for him (worst part would be that at some point he would be in a relationship with something and even still, be incredibly obsessed with me and left that girl to the side in many occasions). "I need you, cause' you drivin' me insane" describes so accurately how some people can degrade themselves to the point of nothing just for something that is purely unrealistic and then lash out the real person they're obsessing with because sooner and later, they're not the perfect god they saw.The desire of dominance is so present in this song; "Said you like it when a woman's on top". This EP was a blessing from the Roach Mother! I was a bit worried that some of the songs wouldn’t go as hard, but all of them went EQUALLY hard! I enjoyed every one, especially Take Control and Paragon. Thank you Lim and Shmoopy for your art and animations, and most importantly, thank you Lulu for making such bangers! We love you all! ❤ (BTW, I was playing a solo run in Dandy’s World while the EP premiered, so I’m imagining Glisten (a character from the game) jamming to these songs-)
Omg holy shit. I was so excited for this EP and it was to die for. Ive been a fan since "EVERYTHING" and im so happy to bare witness to how much your music has grown. Im over playing this EP for hours. "Yeayeayea" is so fun and bouncy, "Drowning" was emotional and absolutely gorgeous, "Control" is by far one of my faves of the EP and is definitely one id bump to and hype myself up with. "Centipede legs" is one i personally can relate too, and im excited about the story implications. Cant foget "The chase" or "paragon." Both are amazing and i love the toxic bug yuri. "Paragon"s sound sticks out the most from the rest of the songs, its so dreamy and ethereal and my second favorite. Overall, im in love with this EP. Thank you Yam, for sharing your work with us. Women have always had this image of sumission attched to them because that is considered feminine by most.

Omg holy shit. I was so excited for this EP and it was to die for. Ive been a fan since "EVERYTHING" and im so happy to bare witness to how much your music has grown. Im over playing this EP for hours. "Yeayeayea" is so fun and bouncy, "Drowning" was emotional and absolutely gorgeous, "Control" is by far one of my faves of the EP and is definitely one id bump to and hype myself up with. "Centipede legs" is one i personally can relate too, and im excited about the story implications.
Cant foget "The chase" or "paragon." Both are amazing and i love the toxic bug yuri. "Paragon"s sound sticks out the most from the rest of the songs, its so dreamy and ethereal and my second favorite.
Overall, im in love with this EP. Thank you Yam, for sharing your work with us. Im incredibly excited for a new year of your music. Happy New Year!! Woohoo!!!
