We trained Rhythm Blues with an OLYMPIC FIGURE SKATER | Adult Figure Skating Journey - ICE DANCE
Вставка

- We trained Rhythm Blues with our Olympic figure skater coach Dmitry Dunn this week, while he was in town.
In this episode of our Adult Figure Skating Journey we once again focus on Ice Dance and try to learn a new ice skating dance pattern on our own to then have our coach work with us on cleaning it up and progress our adult ice dance leaning into some more advanced holds and moves.
Adult figure skating is lots of fun, although it's still very new to us and we're still learning how to figure skate and take an ice dance lesson whenever we can. A lot of things we still have to figure out ourselves though, so we're making this figure skating vlog on how to figure skate for beginners every week to promote adult ice skating and document our figure skating progress (hopefully, tango dancers will find this video funny as well).
Be sure to check out other videos on our channel to see the ice skating progress of dancers on ice, who started from scratch as adults!

// OUR STORY
We're professional dancers who decided to try something new. Figure skating is usually perceived as a kid's activity and often adults feel like it's too late for them to start.
We decided to ditch this notion and prove with our example that it's never too late to try something new.
We hope our experience of learning ice skating as beginner adults (which is also a great workout) will inspire you to get active and get in shape and go after those points on your bucket list, too!
Follow our ice skating journey and be a part of our ice skating progression with our ice skating vlog every Thursday. Hope you enjoy our ice skating channel.

Do you have a weird irrational fear of some element?
Crossovers! Afraid of tripping! Lol
@@kristinarch oh yes! Bruno had that for a while also
Yes
@@kristinarch I second this!
Deep knee bend while doing the step behind will make it easier, and make sure you have good speed going in or you will slow down too much. Extend the front leg and point the toe while bending the supporting leg makes it look elegant. I took the Rhythm and Blues and the Cha Cha with Jim Millns as my partner and he also coached me for those dances. He and his partner went to the Olympics in 1976 when ice dance was first made an Olympic sport, they won the Bronze.
How cool! Yeah, I agree, skating/testing with a coach is WAY easier! You kinda just hang on and enjoy the ride pretty much. 😂
We’re more like two drunk friends walking each other home haha
But we’re up for the challenge!
@@brunoandfae y'all actually look pretty good. You are in sync most of the time and your timing is good too. You shouldn't have any problem passing the test.
@@meganhume551 fingers crossed 🤞🏻 haha
We don’t feel very confident at all yet. We’re like 2 drunk friends walking each other home and none can stand up properly 😅
I actually took my tests before the Rhythm Blues was in the test structure. I learned to do it tolerably well for adult ice dance weekends. Once the pandemic subsides, you should look into these. You might have to stand at the sides when the more advanced dances are being done (you won't be the only ones), but you will learn a lot and there will be lots of people willing to help you.
We don’t know anything about those. Is it like competitions? Or training camp?
@@brunoandfae These are primarily social events, they could include training sessions and sometimes small competitions. Look at www.icedancers.com/ , the tag 'Social Ice Dancing' has information. Right now there is only one weekend listed, the other sessions may or may not be active due to Covid. I haven't done any of these for quite a while (I was off the ice for a long time), but they are really fun.
@@slipperyhardandcold7740 gotcha! We’ll have a look, thank you 🙏🏻
I love this! You both look great and I am so passionate about not being afraid to try something new. I can’t wait to check out more of your videos!
Thank you!!! This is very sweet of you. So happy you enjoyed watching our journey so far.
I recently started following your journey from the first video. I am really enjoying it! You guys learn so fast :o. I have wanted to start skating for a while now, but I am kinda "too old". But I just signed in for a trial class after watching some of your videos (and some other youtubers). So excited! Oeh and, happy late birthday!
this is the best feedback ever! we're so excited for you! :) no one is ever too old to start this journey and i'm sure you're gonna have a blast!
Fae and Bruno, you all are progressing very well with your figure skating and ice dancing training! Thank you for sharing! :-)
Oh, thanks so much!!! You are always so sweet to us 🥰 We appreciate you!
@@brunoandfae You are very welcome, and thank you for appreciating me! You all are awesome! :-)
2 recommendations for back tucks:
1. Touch you boots as you cross behind.
2. Bend the knee on your Skating leg - your too stiff. Soft knees will really help.
You’re doing great!
Thank you! Our coach is actually working with us in straightening our legs more. We keep them bent too much 🤷🏼♀️
Maybe the video deceives in real view of knee bend. Free leg needs to be straight for sure, but soft knees on skate leg is key in ice dancing. But for staring out as adults you both are progressing very well. I enjoy your videos. Keep at it & keep having fun. After Rythmn Blues you won’t see tuck behinds till the pre silver dances - you’ll have a little breather 😀⛸
@@ronniesturchio2302 oh thank heaven!!! Hahah
Not gonna miss them one bit! 😝😂
Great job guys!!!
Thank you! 🥰
The more I watch you guys, the more I think “I really like them” lol I am now subscribed ❤😂
Aw, thanks hehe
I definitely hear ya, working on edges and stroking....it never ends!!
Vocês são ótimos! 👏E feliz aniversário!
Aw obrigado :) a gente vai tentando kkk
Muito obrigada ☺️
Omg those cross behinds are soo hard when you first learn them!! The biggest thing that helped me was thinking about flexing your foot when stepping your foot down. Overthinking it makes it worse I promise 😅
It totally does! Sometimes i still can’t bring myself to cross that first one
Happy birthday!!!
Thank youuuuu!!!! See you tomorrow? 🤷🏼♀️
Knee bend will help the crossbacks feel more stable. :)
Haha that’s so weird actually that we get a lot of comments on bending knees, while our coach was actually really make us work of straightening them! 😬
@@brunoandfae My coach makes me straighten my skating leg for the cross behind too. He's a dance coach.
Siz harikasınız. sizi çok seviyorum
Translation: You guys are great. I love you very much
Oh wow! Thank you so much! Which language is this?
@@brunoandfae It´s in Turkish!
It don't mean a thing, unless you bend your knees!
You pay the coaches, and then they make you get down on your knees!
Haha I see what you did there! 😜
👏👏👏
🤗
I am so envious ☺️, we are now in complete lockdown. I can't wait to go back to ice. Guys! You look great! That is really inspiring 🙂
I feel your pain. Many of our friends are in similar situations. This year really sucks with all the lockdowns! 😩 Here’s hoping rinks are gonna open up everywhere soon.
And thank you for the kind feedback! 🥰
