    First thing I do is swap out out the AC5 for an LB10X, and the PPC's for large lasers. It also becomes a priority for any Double Heat Sinks I scrounge.

      I did have an AC/10 design that was being tried out for this video, but the bulkiness of it forced me to cut back on heatsinks which then reduced the sustained DPS of the lasers.
      I don't use any lostech in these beginner builds because my targeted audience are new players who are in the 3010s and 3020s. I want to ensure the build can be replicated by most people.

    MechWarriors! This was not an easy battle for the stock Marauder. It may seem like I did well, but that was my 5th try wanting to record something without significant weapon losses to give the stock Marauder a fair shake. Perhaps I should have left the damage in to better illustrate how helpless one feels when the stock Marauder begins overheating.
    If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask. My rebuilds do primarily focus around Standard Technology because I want the rebuild to be accessible to new players.

      Know I'm a year late, but at the beginning of the video you say that the Marauder was made to be a "heavy attack mech made to lead a charge". This is false. Literally just reading the mech's in game description will tell you that the Marauder is a sniper mech, meant to be blasting from far away with its ppcs and ac5. It's silhouette also lends well to torso twisting far away projectiles.

    I always slap a Heavy Rifle on the torso and double MP lasers in the arms. With the MAD-2R, it's two Heavy Rifles in the torso.

    My first assault was a Zeus, and it got me to appreciate the simple bliss of a PPC, An AC 10, and good aim. The same works on the Marauder I think, fill out the rest of your energy with small lasers, upgrade to an LB10x, ERPPC, and doubles when the opportunity arises.

    Great video! I've scrounge enough to run a solid lanve of Marauders and thus has helped with their builds significantly. Particularly love the sports announcers energy of the play by play! I'll be sure to check out some of your other vids

      Thank you! That's probably my streaming voice coming through. Sometimes I like to watch the AI fight each other while doing E-Sports sportscasting.
      I'm pretty happy with the Atlas build I did. It has a lot of testing done with it as it's currently being used a lot in my streams.

    Back when I was playing MW3 and MW4, I would aim at legs (when I had the luxury of doing so) for better salvage.

      You can still do that in MW5 though it's also not surprising if the enemy force is too large in number and you need to just start removing them.

      True. And a lot has to do with how fast they are moving and the terrain. Rough or evn rolling terrain often obscures the legs.
      And again, it is when I had the luxury of doing so. I generally favor mechs with large energy weapons to concentrate the damage to one area.

    i usually swap out the PPCs for Large Lasers, and use the saved weight on armor, heatsinks and a second ton of ammo. It works pretty well in most cases and both runs cooler and is tankier.

      It's one of the Mechs I generally avoid, but it's a fan favorite. It feels like unless you have great aim for headshots, this Mech is always going to be a lot worse than its peers.

    Hot build, early game keep an eye out for the Hero Urban Mech (K-9) it has 8 dbl heatsinks, buy it and strip it then sell it back, this puts it back in the pool and it will be refitted next time you see it.

    I like your build vids! Good work! I too enjoy building/optimizing my mechs and helping my fellow mechwarriors build 😊
    This Marauder also works well with medium lasers combined with AC/10, or maybe a single large laser to help balance it out for better damage over range.

      Yep, this one is focused on Standard Technology assuming the typical viewer is new to MW5 and just got their hands on a Marauder.
      I hadn't considered an asymmetrical build. I could probably fit the PPC back on if I didn't equip them in pairs. It would probably look a bit like the Cataphract.

    I sometimes swap out standard autocannons on these for heavy rifles. They run hot but make for better snipers with the almost ac20 damage.

    I usually drop the PPCs to a 1-2 ton laser (usually mediums) and go bigger on the ballistic mount, I really like the heavy rifle with it's high velocity and damage, saves weight overall which allows me to place more heatsinks, I have yet to worry about overheating, even on some hot climiates and I can pick off targets at range to be finished off by my 4 mediums when they do come into range for them, remaining weight gets put forward to utility

      I'm going to at least cover 1 of each "classic" model for each Mech.
      There's other things I want to cover as well like how to make money, how to engage in Mech combat as well as weapon breakdowns etc.
      It is a time consuming, comprehensive subject.

    Another great build guide, interesting how similar the MW5 design is to the original! The heat issues is what always puts me off with this mech, but this is a very effective build in order to overcome that problem

      🥈 Second! Yeah, it's one of the designs that really didn't need to be updated. They just made it a bit bulkier looking to meet the 75-ton feel. I like large laser quite a bit over PPC.

    One thing I always do with PPC armed mechs is set the weapon group of the PPCs to chain fire it helps with heat management so much

      Really you need double heatsinks. You can shoot slower to improve your stamina, but shooting slower means less damage since you aren't attacking at the weapon's maximum rate of fire or staying close to it.

    My Marauder build consist of two large pulse lasers, two medium pulse lasers, & a AC/2 burst fire cannnon.

    I run triple 5BF, quad med lasers and I dropped to a 290 engine which still get me above 60 kph. I chain-fire the 5bf, then alpha once I chip away at a bit of armor.

      That must be with YAML since I don't think there's a Marauder variant with 3 ballistic hardpoints.
      Customization isn't canon in MW5, so I avoid teaching new players modded builds.

    3D refit. Again swap the PPCs for Lg Lasers. Increase to 14.5t Armor, +1HS (21)

      Anything with PPC-Xs should work well. Even just 2 PPC-Xs and a bunch of heatsinks would work.

      @@toysoldierkelsey I'm not sure how well the slow Mechs will do since you do have to get in range. If you get in range, it'll do a lot of damage, but there's an Orion with a supercharger that can carry 3 PPC-Xs that is likely to be extremely dangerous.

    Is there a reason why you're not using chain fire on the PPCs? It's much better for sustaining fire and keeping your DPS up, while keeping you cooler.

      They both have their time and place.
      - Group Fire gives you the best chance of both PPCs striking the same location which is one of the biggest advantages of the PPC.
      - Chain Fire is more useful for trying to not overkill targets such as firing a single PPC at a helicopter or a turret.
      Whether you're group firing or chain firing, one way or another, this Mech's heat is going to catch up to it. Chain firing means more medium laser blasts but fewer PPC blasts.
      Which is better? That depends.
      You can wait for your heat to sink and fire at the best opportunity instead of making constant chain fire barrages for example. You could sink your heat and just look for those center torso blasts for 20 damage.
      In other words, there's a lot of nuance in the question you're asking.

      @@GitGudFox that's true. I have to say though the marauders I use are very strong with the mods no cooling issues. Armor is a weakness but that's ok.
      I can really specialize them however I want with mods.

      Yes, Standard Tech is a humongous downgrade from what was wielded in the Star League. Catch is that most of the weapons aren't usable without the double heatsinks.

      🥉 Third! Unless they take some liberties on the damage, it wouldn't be nearly as good as it is in BT as the Snubb Nose PPC should still do 10 damage altogether.
      8 heat for 10 damage is just a tough sell. I pick the ER Large Laser only because of it's incredible 1000m max range able to engage enemies at crazy ranges combined with the Marauder's 43m backpedal will let it outshoot most Assault Mechs that aren't fire support Mechs.

      I wasn't sure how people would like lasers instead of PPCs, but I'm just not a big fan of the PPC used in greater quantities than 1. I don't mind a single PPC as a battle cannon, but once you go to 2+ PPCs, I find the heat very hard to manage.

      @@GitGudFox Most Mechs I use I strip the PPC off for a L Laser due to heat and weight. The only Mech I use with PPCs is the AWS-Q8 because I can load it with heat sinks.

      Are you talking about like 400 ton battles? The Marauder doesn't really have a place in 400-ton battles.
      The key to winning 400-ton battles, consistently, and without massive damage, is overwhelming long range firepower. Destroying enemies before they can close the distance and use their weapons is how you protect your armor.
      Stalkers with Artemis LRMs and Maulers with Artemis LRMs + Burst Fire ACs, and ordered to hold their position, will give you the best shot at clean wins.

      Also, I want to emphasize the role of this Marauder build. It should be thought of as an infantry rifleman.
      This Marauder is designed to protect a lance of long range Mechs in the same way that a line of riflemen might protect a machine gun position.
      Fire at long range in support of your long range lance and let them close the distance to you. Then you engage in close combat when they choose to get close.
      You CAN assault enemy positions with this build, but it's not ideal. Other Mechs are more preferable for taking the fight to the enemy like the Thunderbolt, the Cataphract, the Warhammer, and the Black Knight.
      These Mechs feature way more close range focused hardpoints like tons of medium lasers.

      ​@@GitGudFoxYou are objectively incorrect about the Marauder not having a place in endgame content. It has effective sustained dps and runs at 64 kph or 74 kph with the speed upgrade whilst having fairly alright armor. For reference the Banshee 3S at 95 tons has (at least the way I run it), an LB10X, LP lasers, and a bunch of medium lasers and it goes 48 kph or 55 with the speed upgrade. That may sound objectively better, but trust me, that speed makes a HUGE difference. The faster your mech goes, the worse rng hit chance the ai has. I won't go into extreme detail, but the ai basically rolls a die everytime it fires to see if it will aim accurately and the dodge skill on pilots is increased when you manage to dodge shots that the ai rolled a "hit" on. The higher your dodge stat AND the higher the speed of your mech + distance from the enemy calculates that hit chance. The Marauder going 64 kph and sniping at long distance fucks up the ai a lot and since the Marauder has some of the greatest hitboxes in the entire game shots that do hit have a tendency to spread across the entire mech rather than shred off a single component. For these reasons a Mad 3R or 2R (2R being the same thing except it has ER PPCs and I believe double heat sinks in its stock loadout) is actually better than a Marauder II or Atlas in a lot of situations.

      For good reason too. The Marauder's design is the same as the Macross Officer's Battle Pod.
      There was a controversy on who owned the rights to several Mech appearances as the company who owned the license to them sold them to multiple companies.
