I'm disabled and I'm going to take it up as a hobby. I'll have to restrict it to smaller pieces. I did gear up with several sanders, a bench top band saw, no room for a table saw so I got a mini circular saw with a track, various scrapers and formed sanding blocks, plenty of paint brushes, several quarts of stain and various tools that I already have.
I'm disabled as well and setting up a shop in my garage. I just had both knees replaced to start. When I have time and energy, I'm working on a rocking chair. I learn loads from watching these videos.
❤I thought it was a corner stereo with LP record player. My gran had one when I was a kid and it was that weird nude antiqued finish. I would use one nowadays. A bar is good too. I guess the needle might skip with a bar and writing desk, heheh.
Just amazing! Such beautiful results. I find not using any power tools makes the final outcome feel even more special and creative haha Great video, Cole! 👍
I was not expecting a writing desk in the cabinet that's for sure...what a cool piece! It screams 60's chic....love it and love Sonny's little highland dancing...what a cutie-pie🥰
Absolutely gorgeous transformation! It turned out so beautiful! But I gotta tell you the little Sonny made my day! Was having a really bad day! When I got the notification of your video. I started watching. When little Sonny started giggling it's contagious and dancing he was having so much fun! It just made me feel so much better! But of course the restoration turned out stunning gorgeous! 🥰😊❤
Oh that giggling baby! ❤❤❤ This is an excellent video. I love the project. I love the presentation. I *LOVE* that there's no music. I love the length of the video. A perfect video! 👏🏾
I follow you and appreciate you. Because you are becoming more and more skilled every day.The best part of the video was our little friend's cheerful mood. God bless him.
Such an epic design!! MCM will forever be the epitome of cool and sexy with a side of exquisite wood grain!! Thank you for taking such tender care to preserve it's beauty for another 75 years!!
A Series on Basic Restoration for the Beginner? I Like the Idea! I Think with a Little more Emphasis on Specific Issues on Each Piece, You've Definitely Got Something There! Looks Great! You Brought It Back to Its Original Look! Sonny's got it Right! Do a Little Dance and the World is a Better Place!
The piece is really cool, and it looks fantastic after you restored it. I'd rather see it restored than painted. Painting seems to be an easy way out. You have proven that with a little elbow grease that a person can do wonders. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and your little boy is so cute. Maybe he'll grow up and become a dancer, lol😊😅❤
This was such a beautiful restoration your attention to detail your lovely accent but Sonny is top of the list. I am often amazed by people thinking they can’t do things without power tools. My father was a master carpenter and joiner starting work at 12 in 1918. My brother used to show his children the canvas bag that held Dads tools. Ripping saw hand saw box saw a few chisels planes hammers screwdrivers. Telling them that these kept a family. All portable on the back of his motorbike. I have one of his chisels worn down to just under 1 1/2 inches. His nickname was Sonny too. My great grandmother thought his given name was horrible so she declared him Sonny👏👏👌👌👌❤
Such a lovely story, thank you for sharing! I am intrigued to know what this horrible name was! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment 🤗🤗🤗
@@flipitnation you may not have had Steptoe and Son on tv in NZ? Ask your wife’s mother.. of course Dad used to watch it and laugh his head off because the son was called. HAROLD . Only very few people called him that, certainly not close friends and family🤣🤣
Beautifully redone sir!!! It would have been even more impressive if the original builder of the piece had done one full piece of veneer on the front so that all three of the doors matched. But still an incredible piece!! Such a beautiful and happy boy you have there. ❤
Your videos are superbly done. I also appreciate the simple restoration of this piece. Gorgeous result. And of course Sonny is the star of the show as always. What a cutie.
Cole, that was quite the find. It's a beautiful piece of furniture to begin with, and you restored it to its original beauty. Cole, your photography is top drawer. It is the best of all the furniture refinishers I watch, and I have watched at least 50 different ones on UA-cam.
We were hoping to see your little guy before the video was done. He is growing fast, but still very handsome. Loved how this piece turned out. I learned a lot from you. Linda beals
Gorgeous piece of furniture brought back to life your work as always is awesome….I swear Sonny’s smile gets bigger and bigger. Such a happy wee chap❤❤❤
Hey Cole, how are you doing? I LOVE this project because it's the same but better when you're done with it. 👍 I really appreciate a good restoration. Especially when you can get away with a simple restoration vs a complete resurrection! Thanks for letting us see our Lil Buddy dancing and cracking himself way up! 😂 As a result I laughed because a) he's so adorable and b) that he dances like a white guy at less than 2 years old! Gosh is he cute! 🥰 Thanks again for the excellent content!
Hi Annie, it was nice to work on a piece that wasn't riddled with problems! Haha, yes his token dance move is currently running on the spot, generally followed by a yoga pose (usually downward dog). Quite entertaining! Thank you for watching :)
Brilliant. I'd love to have a go, good to know that you can get such fantastic results without all the fancy gear some people have! Thank you for sharing.
I didn’t realise scrapers could be that effective! I was looking at a card scraper for a while there but the sharpening process seemed pretty full on. I’m going to give a scraper like yours a crack!
First time viewer, loved it. I do prefer that the hardware get cleaned up and back to its original look so I’m for one am glad you cleaned it up. The piece looks amazing. Keep up the good work. PS your little one is totally adorable.
I just like the fact that you are so genuine. No BS, no clickbait etc. Just you doing something that we can get to enjoy. For that, I thank you.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate that :)

Can we all just pause a moment to appreciate the miracle that is Bar Keeper’s Friend? I use it so often. Anyway, lovely result- per usual!
That stuff is a GREAT product and the results never disappoint!
How good is it, magic dust!

Having all the slits on the screws going the same direction is a detail of EXCELLENCE.
Either that or watching lots of Jay's videos from Flipping Drawers. 😁😁
That piece turned out almost as awesome as you and Sonny are! I can see why he is your inspiration!
Oh thank you so much, that is so kind :)
“You’re probably in the wrong room.” What a great quote. Always remain teachable.
Sonny is adorable.
I admire your simple approach and use of simple tools. You give us DIYers hope
Thank you, I appreciate you saying so!
Just amazing! Such beautiful results. I find not using any power tools makes the final outcome feel even more special and creative haha Great video, Cole! 👍
When you said you sand before adding stripper, I thought Duh, why have I never seen anyone else do that?? Makes perfect sense. Thanks 😊

Loved that bit too.
Turned out beautiful.

There is no better sound in this world than a baby's laughter ❤
Great restoration! A child's laughter is the best sound in the world!!👍👏
Beautiful!
I love how you lined up all the screw head slots, too. ❤
Haha yes, it has become a habit now :)
❤️🫶 the inspiration break with Sonny is epic! Beautiful laughter & adorable smile🥹 The restoration is stunning 🎉
That turned out so beautiful. And you clocked the screws properly! Well done buddy! 🥃

Great tip about sanding prior to stri 4:45 stripping. I never thought of that. Sure does make sense.
I find it super helpful, thank you for watching!

Excellent. What an unusual MCM piece. I love it. You did a wonderful job on it.
Awesome to see this, I do every restoration with hand tools only (except a heatgun sometimes).
That is awesome, I really like that. A real sense of accomplishment. Thank you for watching!
Another great job 😮❤
