The attachment trimmer head spins counter clockwise, opposite to the standalone. So walking in the other direction should make it smoother to control, as well as keep your socks clean. 😃

I think both the string trimmers did an excellent job I think string trimming overgrown edges first will help the edge work better.
Oh 100% Lynette. It's takes more time but yields the best results to trim first then edge. The final product was CRISPY!

I have the attachment capable trimmer head and I find I have to turn it down from 2 to 1 while edging or else it gets aggressive

I'm a beginner and this is exactly what I'm going to be shopping for tonight. I like edging. The weedeaters scare me and I have always needed help in the past. I'm sure they have come along way in thirty years though! Can you recommend an edger and blower for a beginner? Not cheap but something I can use. Thanks!
I really love the Toro Edger and the blower. I find that there is a bit of a learning curve no matter which one you land on. I believe Home Depot carries Toro, so I definitely recommend going in to see how it feels for you. For the blower try to get something that is 600 CFM or higher.
