another thing to consider when choosing which mods to merge is how often they're updated. everytime one of the mods in your merge gets updated, you'll have to redo your merge from scratch
Honestly this sort of depends. If some mods have less critical updates, "fixed neck seam on Boomboom Robe," they can probably be put off on updating for a bit. For example make a profile and shove your armor mods into it, and when one updates you just update and then remerge that profile.

Extra tip for MO2 peeps: in the Tools Plugins menu (the one with the puzzle icon) there is an option called "Merge Plugins Hide". using that option will bring up a list of merge files. selecting one and hitting 'disable all' will take any .esp that is a part of a merge and hide it from the load order by changing its extension into nameofthemod.esp.mohidden. Helps tidy up the load order and prevent redundant plugin shenanigans. To re-enable any hidden plugin either use the aforementioned tool again, or for a specific mod just right click on it in the Main list, select 'open in Explorer', then delete the ".mohidden" portion of the esp. MAKE SURE YOU DELETE THE PERIOD *AFTER* .ESP! If you've done it right the plugin should pop back up in the load order when you refresh MO2, but you might have to toggle the mod. Also keep in mind that MO2 typically won't remember where in a given load order the mod was after it gets unhidden.

Vortex users! Ghost those plugins! It helps with mods like simple item spawner (what I use for VR) or add item menu. Otherwise the load order will have a bunch of plugins in slots that aren’t actually being used (even if disabled) and it confuses those mods. Tbf I don’t know if it actually confuses add item menu, because I don’t use it, I’m guessing the mechanics are similar. But you can still ghost either way.

It's quite ironic that I just got back into Skyrim modding, wasted countless hours and probably reaching a few days now with downloading mods to see what works and what doesn't. Now I've yet again hit a new limit of plugins but my hunger for more is not yet quenched, find this video after a day after I looked at the Dyndolod video. It's a surprise to be sure but a welcome one.
What to merge? Rule of three + 1 - no conflicts (SSEEdit, load all mods, apply filter for conflict (selected items only)) 2 - mods merged must not have mcm menus 3 - mods merged cannot have navmesh records (check for "Navigation Mesh Info Map" in SSEEdit) (4) - mods merged cannot have .dll files (typically SKSE mods) (5) - try never to merge masters that have many dependencies, or make sure to pack them all in Just gathered this watching GamerPoets and SinitarGaming's videos on the topic, figured I'd share
Before this video I have been trying for hours on end to trying to understand merging and doing it the old way and just couldnt get it working for my setup in MO2. Now with this video the entire process took less than 10 minutes. God bless you GamerPoets

You are legit the most helpful youtuber when it comes to SSE modding. I'd been looking on tutorials for how to merge plugins cause I went over the 255 limit. Thank you so much for your hard work!
:) welcome
It's quite ironic that I just got back into Skyrim modding, wasted countless hours and probably reaching a few days now with downloading mods to see what works and what doesn't. Now I've yet again hit a new limit of plugins but my hunger for more is not yet quenched, find this video after a day after I looked at the Dyndolod video. It's a surprise to be sure but a welcome one.
What to merge?
Rule of three +
1 - no conflicts (SSEEdit, load all mods, apply filter for conflict (selected items only))
2 - mods merged must not have mcm menus
3 - mods merged cannot have navmesh records (check for "Navigation Mesh Info Map" in SSEEdit)
(4) - mods merged cannot have .dll files (typically SKSE mods)
(5) - try never to merge masters that have many dependencies, or make sure to pack them all in
Just gathered this watching GamerPoets and SinitarGaming's videos on the topic, figured I'd share
Before this video I have been trying for hours on end to trying to understand merging and doing it the old way and just couldnt get it working for my setup in MO2.
Now with this video the entire process took less than 10 minutes.
God bless you GamerPoets
😊🙏
You are just the coolest channel on YT man. Love your content so much. You make modding Bethesda games so easy.
Honestly one of the best Guides I've seen in a long time.
That was one of the cleanest and best tutorials i've ever watched.
Thanks for your help. I think you and gopher helped me, by far, the most. And i frikkin love your voice.
"IF you havent reached your plugin limit, close the program - stop it" :D
You don’t understand how long I’ve looked online for a video explain how to do merges for mods! This was so helpful! Thank you for the video! Brilliant work! Thank you! Saves me so Mandy headaches for reaching the plug-in limit because of the gun mods I had lol :) thank you once again for the video ! Your a god send lol
Always smile when I see a new video in my feed =)
=)
"ESL Mods don't count towards your limit" is the single most beautiful thing I have ever heard thank you
Well, they all count as 1 slot (combined.. so like 100 = 1 ) ;)
Your videos are truly a God-send. Your editing is so simple yet so genius.
like i have never seen such a professionally done modding tutorial video
thank you so much. I remember your voice and not understanding a fucking think 8 years ago. 26 now, stable load order, perfect timing.
bruh this is literally the best tutorial i have ever seen, so comprehensive and easy to follow, no matter what mod manager you use! And you have a great voice, very soothing.
(and if i would have watched the zEdit installation video before, i would have know that in order for zMerge to detect my plugins, it needs to be added as an executable to MO2.... i am sooo dumb xD)
not dumb = ) Thank you for your kind words.
You're amazing, GamerPoets, I don't know what I'd do without you.
I think I am gonna download a bunch of random apps and commission this guy to do tutorials simply because it's so awesome listening to him explain stuff :D
man i just love you. such a nice guy and so informative, and no useless blabbering
😊 🙏
Woo, thanks for the help, my first question was answered inside the first minute or so and the rest was all very useful. Especially the bit about not merging things that other mods are reliant on, that might have caused me issues if I didn't realize.
You always have the best tutorial vids to follow! I'm kinda slow, but its so easy to understand
Thank you. Attempting my third try at Modding and Merging. This was a great refresh and clarification.
Thanks for this! I have played and modded Skyrim for years and newer did the extra step to ensure stability, until now.
an overview of what all these tools do and how they relate to one another would be really helpful
i just made my first merge,...
i put 50 SLab mods in a merge. Everything working awesome.
You and your voice deserve a medal.
