While cyclists are also allowed to use the road, we also must follow all applicable traffic laws (which includes pulling over for responding emergency vehicles and overtaking only where permitted). I used to work on an ambulance and I couldn't count how many times I've seen people not hear me because their stereo was too loud or notice me and just aren't impressed enough to get out of the way. Yes it is a ticketable offense but just try to make that happen.
The problem with getting a ticket to actually happen is it requires an officer to pull them over and write a ticket, when if you're going code 3 there's more pressing matters at hand (yes I'm 3 years late but time doesn't matter for ridiculous problems)

I'm from Verona (Italy) and the police here use the classic european siren ( hi-lo siren)...but they sucks and I'm a little bit sad because the american rumbler sirens are much better than european style...I hope that one day the sirens that you have in america will be used also here in Italy for the police vehicles. 😕

I think you could send in this video to NYPD to maybe set an example. Maybe NYPD should downgrade (actually upgrade) to fleet bicycles...they can get places faster. Nice riding..be safe!

If it's lights & sirens, it's code 3. However, if they only use the siren going through an intersection and to clear traffic temporarily, it's C2.
