Crochet blankets made from yarn ends and that get passed down become treasures. It doesn’t matter how they look. My grandmother made a blanket that I inherited. For as long as I can remember, it was on her bed. The colours were ghastly (ranging from poop browns over diarrhoea tans through to dirty white and various shades of goober/snot greens). No real pattern, simply varying widths of colour bands, all single crochet and double crochet. Its goal was simple: to keep her warm and to use up whatever she had. I absolutely loved that blanket because it was Grandma to a tee. She never wasted anything. And if she had something that served, she didn’t see the use of replacing it unless it was irreparably damaged or worn. Just last Summer I had to throw it out and I was heartbroken. Somehow there’d been a leak and the alcove I keep my blankets in became humid enough for mold to set in. It was too late by the time I noticed. I didn’t want it to go to a landfill so I shredded it and buried it in the compost pile. Grandma loved to garden and protein based fibres are good for composting.
So good to see you! I went to Walmart today to buy some and when i saw the price... i skipped. I am not a fan of red heart other than item made with it are good for life but also agrees. The convenience of not carrying several skeins...hopefully they will go on sale !

It was Ross from Smells Like Yarn... looked great knitted into his hat
Yarn has gotten stupid expensive now! There used to be a huge margin between commercial yarn and hand dyed yarn. Commercial is catching up!
Don't want big holes😊
