    Great instructions thank you. Saved me nearly £100! Easy to follow and well paced. My only comment is about the removal of the back. From your video I thought there was a catch to release at the hinge end but actually you just need to pull the base plate down and away from the hinges. I found this on another video, after that it was super clear. The removal of the old battery was hard but just took time to be careful. I’ll give a donation now.

    Hi. This video was amazing. One of the best i've ever seen. I just got a used 2018 Macbook Pro 15". The battery was nearly dead. I was able to follow this step by step... i even experienced your warnings about piercing the old battery. LOL. Your video was excellent.
    WARNING FOR OTHERS... there is a warning given in this video to be very careful when trying to put the frosting knife between the case and battery, to break that seal. The warning is... if you pierce the battery there will be toxic fumes and you may start a fire. I HAD BOTH.
    I was being so careful. i was on the last 25%... and i pierced the battery. IT started blowing smoke like crazy. Then it turned orange from getting so hot and then there were embers shooting out and then a Flame about 8" high.
    So a warning to others... be in a place where if something like this unexpectedly happens, you won;t nearly burn down your home, get embers on your furniture, or on your carpet, etc.
    The fire from this battery was so hot, it melted the right arrow key on the keyboard and it melted the LCD... a round spot about the size of a 50 cent piece.
    Surprising... EVERYTHING still works. So now that i'm a subscriber, i'll see if there is a video for how to swap the display panel.
    Thanks for a great video.
    Terster

    This is a good video. I usually follow iFixit but they said to remove the whole logic board which is way too much. My big challenge was getting those two p2 bolts to turn. At 6:12 where you pulled the terminal connection up. If you measure the voltage on the positive and negative terminal of the battery (The one with - / + sign) Is there voltage present?
    I am trying to fix mine and I was wondering if the battery is broken because there is no voltage present on those terminals so if it is I can probably just replace the battery. The laptop is not charging and not booting up.

    Thank you for these excellent videos on macbook battery replacement. I have been able to successfully replace the batteries on 2 of my macbooks - mid 2014 and 2018 following your guide. I have a question about the requirement of the battery adhesive. In both cases, I have chosen to not use the battery adhesive. I figured that the battery sits quite snugly so no need to really stick it. While t it will be easier for me to remove the battery next time, I am a bit concerned that leaving the plastic on may impact the heat dissipation. What do you think?

      amzn.to/3rvdVED It comes with screwdrivers, but I prefer the ifixit ones. The bits are much more robust, but if you're only doing it one time, the included ones will likely be ok. This kit amzn.to/3O5HhB1 and if you need the tool to cut the adhesive amzn.to/44zIh7v After peeling the leftover adhesive, using a small syringe to soak the residue helps in easier clean up than what's in the video.

      @@ItsBinhRepaired Thank you so much brother. Just two last few questions.
      1.Is this battery pack approved by Apple/used by Apple too ? Or is this a third party battery close to what apple provides in its original manufactured device. I'm asking this because I want to know if it's risky to install a battery pack that is not approved or manufactured by Apple. You know some say they harm the other parts of the laptop in some ways. Or maybe it is totally cool I need an expert like you to confirm it.
      2. I'm facing an issue where the laptop would start and stay on for a few seconds and then turn off again. And when it turns off I can still click on the trackpad but the screen is black. The notification sound that's supposed to sound when we attach the charger cable, doesn't make that sound anymore. It was until some time, but no sound anymore. I anyways have to replace the battery because I see the "Service Battery" sign i just wanna make sure if this is the kind of behaviour a laptop would show because of just the battery ? Or can it be something else also.
      My laptop is kinda swollen from the center and some keys on the keyboard would malfunction. It's been 5 years to this problem and I kinda took it for granted cuz it was still working with the battery service sign on. It finally gave up now.
      Every now and then I have noticed that if there is some heavy processing happening in the software I'm using, the fan inside would start up really loud like there's a cyclone inside and shut off immediately only if the charger is not connected.
      I connect the charger .. it doesn't show the charging battery sign anymore .. only one of the 4 USB ports is working and other ones seem dead. But again, all of a sudden none of the USB ports work.
      There are quite a few more things happening with my laptop and I'm guessing it's only because of the battery. Do you also think the same ? Or should I consider taking it to the service center, after selling one of my kidneys, ofcourse 😌😛

    • @ItsBinhRepaired
      @ItsBinhRepaired  Рік тому +1

    Thanks for another time saving video! I found that I definitely had to remove the touchpad when I did it.
    My solution to the springy washers was to put a drop of isopropyl on top of them on their spindles with an eyedropper after I pulled the touchpad out. It kept them stuck from surface tension until it evaporated which was about the same amount of time it took me to get to the rest of the work. I think there's probably something better out there than alcohol, but man! those washers are hard to track if they get away from you.
    I wonder if the washers are the same size across the Macbook models that use them? Might be worth ordering a pack of them since the newer Macbooks that require touchpad removal are getting to end of OEM battery life.

    I was extremely careful and got all the batteries detached until Ingot to the last pack. Somehow I managed to put a hole in the battery. It caught fire slightly and I blew it out right away. Can I still safely remove this pack or is my laptop destroyed?

    Great video - the only thing I would add is that gasoline is a better solvent than isopropyl for the old battery adhesive. It is more effective and gets the job done in minutes when put on a paper towel. The battery ribbon cable is almost impossible to see even wearing magnification lens. I couldn't have done it without this video. One other suggestion is to clean the edges of the track pad and its place on the top case with alcohol before reinstalling - my 2019 macbook pro is working better now than it was when Apple replaced the topcase in 2021 due to the keyboard manufacturing issue.

    • @ItsBinhRepaired
      @ItsBinhRepaired  Рік тому +1

      Nice, glad it helped. I don't use gasoline. The fumes are much more toxic and you'll be poisoning yourself working on the computer as well as absorbing it through your skin. Not good.

    • @TOleablemonk
      @TOleablemonk Рік тому +1

      One of the other problems with gasoline is that it can damage motherboards and other components such as speakers and gaskets. Not recommended.
      Cleaning up the trackpad before reinstallation definitely helps though. :)
