Azarenka wanted to score every time she hit the ball. Simona sent long and lifted balls, so she can't do that. Perfect counter from Simo. Good match!
Actually nope. 2012 or any prebaby Azarenka would mop the floor with Simona today. Azarenka lost the match with unforced errors not because of some long lifted balls. Even with Azarenka playing terribly she had insane chances in the first set.
@@Dark_Voice Dude.. 2012? Thats like ages ago. Azarenka had 2-3 constant good years in her career 2012 - 2014, and in 2014 Halep exploded and never left top 8 since then.
@@Nycku007 I do agree tho that Vika in her prime form against Halep now could be a fantastic rivalry. sadly Vika really made tons of errors today and it killed any of her chances. Halep, of course, was very good.
Those weren't unforced errors, they were FORCED by Haleps shot placement,variety and her unrivalled speed.

I’m genuinely surprised to see Azarenka lose to Halep (I’m not even a huge Azarenka fan) but they have a very similar style; aggressive counter punchers but Azarenka does it better. I think if we had Azarenka from 2012 playing Simona now, Vika would still win.

33 errors is a phenomenal number of mistakes. I got nothing against Azarenka, she beat the hell out of Tomljanovic the other day beautifully but she has never beaten Halep and yet all the 'tipsters' said she was going to blast Halep off the face of the earth. And she didn't and in a very very big way. Tipsters are on the take with the betting agencies I think, they say this and say that and everyone puts their money on the 'favourite' and when the 'favourite' doesn't do it, they all clean up!

@@charliez077 Many don't want to recognise, but I take a look at some statements from many top players that came back. I am not saying this for Halep. Back in time, before, the favourites had easy 3-4 rounds. In the quarterfinals, top 4 favourite was playing against non top 8 or maximum 7 or 8th ranked in the world. And the field on band 16-20+ was very poor. 10-16 was also questionable, and more probably. Just 4-5, maximum 6 players were really world class. Sometimes 3-4 players went for the crown, and if no surprise came..
