Blackstar Debut 50R Combo GUITAR AMP: All Tone - No Fuss

- Blackstar has just released its new Debut line of amps. Why should great tone be the luxury of expensive tube amp players? The Debut 50R has some great tone without the price tag! Blackstar also understands the modern player wants features like effects loops, multiple channels, lush reverb, options for silent recording, and inputs for playback via their phone. There is also the option to switch down to 5W for the same killer tone at neighbour-pleasing volumes!

I have this Blackstar..for me the best Solid State Amp that i have since the 70's.
Awesome
I liked the demonstrations of the various, you kept them short and neat. So often i see guitarists trying out new amps and i get the feeling they are trying to prove what a great guitarist they are?
This was a good video to the point video. Well done
Cheers, really appreciate your feedback
I have the black one ,its a great light amp I use as a backup .its gets some killer tones and it has no effects I love that it has an effects loop its the perfect pedal amp.get one you won't regret it!!!
may I ask your experience so far with debut50r?
is it normal to have noise when gain exceeds 50%?
Buy two. Even with something like a NU>X MG-30 modeler's L/R outs going into both amp's FX returns?!!!
It would definitely be sick enough for any practice or gig with a drummer, and...
It's in stereo!
Boom!!
Haha!
Cheers!
This or vt20x
Might have to check one of these out
Honestly it's a perfect teaching amp too. Very portable and straight up easy to use.
Yes it definitely is
I have the 10 watt version of this.. the clean tones sound almost identical seriously. Brilliant little amp for bedroom jamming with a couple pedals.
The 50 is next on the list.
Apart from the sound, I think the industrial design is good. It's clean, simple and easy to understand. So, the look of the thing underscores the amp's other, musical qualities.
Yes we agree
I would really like to hear this amp with a couple different quality speakers. I notice the stock speaker magnet is small for a 12". Sounds awesome regardless though..
I've been using my HT5 since 2012. Blackstar is awesome and the depth of tone rely on pickups and possibly variations of pedals use in conjunction with the plug ins of any black Star amplification. I'm using the 1991 Gibson Les Paul with two humbuker pickup and I use pedals for one sort of distortion but the distortion built into Blackstar amps are the boss! I enjoy Marshall tone, which are priced above the cost of the Black Star, but Black Star is a cool amp even in time with Marshall amps. Black Star is (in my opinion) worth its price although Marshall is its own. So are Fender Amps along with a list beginning with Mesa Boogie, Canadian built, among all those overseas models.
Thanks for sharing
NICE 1 Knackers! \m/
I didn't like the 15 and thought I wouldn't like this either, but I'm surprised, it actually sounds pretty good.
Yep, it sound really good
I would compare it against the orange rt 60
Have you tried it? Which one do you prefer?
How is the low end on this amp?
nice vid but nothing on the i/o on the back
Would’ve loved some single coil blues.
Try SRV 😊
it's called Debut for a reason - the first, but not last amp a player buys, or wants, or needs
Would hazard a guess that the ISF is better on singles!
I mean, 50 watts should make it more than a practice amp, right? I'm far from an expert, but 50 should be good for bar gigs I'd imagine. I don't know.
At last, a demo where the treble isn't turned to max and the bass to zero. I don't get all those crispy sounding demos.
Thanks Nick
Yeah, but all the greats did it. It's all a matter of taste of course, I personally turn the bass low. The guitar doesn't need it, it's all in the mid range of course.
Thanks. How does it work with external pedals?
Does it work with helix, or other amp modeling?
Yes it works well with pedals 👍🏻
From some of the reviews I've read at a certain 'not sour' retailer, the EQ's don't do anything past 12 o'clock. You can only make miniscule adjustments to the thin, baseline tone of the amp. They said the ISF knob was just for show. They were verified purchasers saying this, BTW. I guess it would work with pedals, if it really doesn't have any tone of its own.
I recently bought a blackstar debut 50r and I'm really enjoying it; I just wished it was louder, so I want to connect an extention cab to it.
Can anyone me how exactly I would go about achieving that?
I think the speaker is 4 ohms and I can't seem to find a non bass cab with 4 ohms.
Sorry, I'm new to all this speaker talk.
Hey Daniel, The Debut 50R does not have the option to use an extension speaker
How much does the amp weigh? I'm having trouble finding that out.
10kg
Hi Mr D. The amp weighs in a t 10kg
Got it, thanks everyone 👍. In my language that's 22 lbs. 🏋️♂️
Can this be used as a powercab for modelers like the Katana and Catalyst can be?
Yes....Effects return input works really well but you have to insert a dummy jack into the main
input...dont know why tis is but I found out by trial and error.
@@gerrymcgill3209how to do it? Can share more? I have a POD GO
Which footswitch is compatible with this amplifier?
Website says any latching 2 switch pedal should work.
I use the one that came with an ht 20
Which amplifier sounds better to you boss katana 50 mk2 or blackstar Debut 50R?
Blackstar. The Katana sounds like a sterile soulless box in comparison IMHO
@@MichelleTaylor1 :)
catalyst and katana have power amp in jacks- so they can also be used with other fx modellers
@bikeman220 this has an effects loop so the return would be power amp in.
Can this amp do all the overwhelming FX features of a KATANA?
Well, no. Obviously.
Does it have an FX loop tho? Damn skippy.
Can two of these 100% analog amps be run in a dual amp stereo parallel/series setup and still be in phase?!
Well, yes. Absolutely.
A KATANA, aside from their proprietary stereo jiggery pokery (due to DSPRTL) could NEVER do that.
Could two of these amps be a $500 option for running a stereo modeling unit into each amp's FX return?!
Bingo.
My point?
At that price for a 50 watt 100% analog combo with an FX loop?
Fookin buy two!
Haha!
Cheers!
meh - lovely but I'll stick with the Katana.
I am probably in a minority...I detest loud playing.
I mean, there's a time and a place. If you're gigging, they need to hear you. But yeah, at practice or just alone, I don't get the need to make eardrums bleed haha. That's the main thing pulling me towards this besides the price: the 5 watt option.
