No.. i would and have with a ht40 and an ht60. But mainly.. the egnater vengeance halfstack 4/12 cab and 120 watts. Massive amounts of gain.. i dont need that much.. around 70 percent i use to achieve the brown sound.. or tone VH. Or jimmy page if i roll off the volume knob. Thats the problem with solid state. U cant roll of the volume knob and soflty it will cut out

not really the orange is a hell of a lot more cash in my country the orange crush 35 is $489 the Blackstar $320 at the orange price point has the boss katana 50watt, the fender lt50 and the GTX50 so the Orange isn't a consideration unless your clueless why this blackstar is worth a look is because its so cheap

@@beaumas why? there's so many good 100watt heads on the market already, Blackstar has been smart with the debut 50 as its right in the beginner range everyone can afford it for what you get a beginner doesn't need a 100watt head😀

I have this amp, I use it with a small pedal board(tuner, ts, analog delay, looper) and another delay in the fx loop for when I am on the od channel. Love this amp! I also have a HT1RH head with a small 10" cab, that sounds even better, specially on the od channel with humbuckers. Blackstar is great, nicely priced, good options and no firmware, usb, computer editor in sight 🎉
Edit: the isf knob is great, to the left: bright, fenderish - to the right more mid pushy marshally...

I really like the simplicity and the quality of the sound. I'm over 60 now, and I don't want to drag around my old twin reverb anymore, so I think this might fit the bill.

Seems like a good alternative to people who want plug n play solid state practice/jam and maybe gig amp but don't want to be sucked into the katana time suck of tweaks, effects and do dads.
My biggest complaint about the katana is too much to f around with and constantly thinking I needed, or could, tweak this or that but most of the time it didn't matter. I like options but a simple amp to plug into and not having "oh I can do this or that" running amok in the brain while you play is great.

Looking forward to playing this, I've never really got on with modelling amps, tried various ones over the years and although they are incredibly versatile they never quite feel like I'm playing the real thing. Also I don't want loads of Fx on my amp, all I need is reverb and possibly Vibrato. Key features for me are nice clean (at good volume levels) and a nice overdrive (don't need tons of gain either classic rock levels enough for me) and power reduction for home use.

I like tubes but i dont want to have to deal with their maintenance, or picky volume issues. I want something i can play in my bedroom or on stage, work with my pedals, and perform in a gig scenario if i need it to. It doesnt have to be tube and for reliability id prefer it wasnt. It just has to sound the part.

Regarding the clean headroom. ISF and EQ play a massive role in clean headroom. So the real issue with this kind of amp having shared EQ/ISF is if you set it for one channel the other might be compromised. So that brings me back to the obvious comparison to this amp. This on the surface seems like a great amp, it's basically a Peavey Bandit for less than half the price. The problem is you can get a Peavey Bandit cheaper secondhand knowing it is reliable and knowing it's already depreciated completely and the Peavey Bandit has independent EQ. I'd love to see a shootout because I think the Bandit still has this amp beat and the reality is if we are talking about affordable gigging amp the Peavey Bandit on the used market is a real option for a first affordable gigging/practice amp. Interestingly the Peavey Classic 30 is also in the price range on the used market, is a real tube amp, sounds amazing so if you were considering either the new Blackstar or the second hand Peavey Bandit, the smart purchase would most likely be a used Peavey Classic 30. This Blackstar Debut 30 will be a hell of a buy in the future on the used market. But for now it's in a hard place because I think the Bandit is possibly a better amp and cheaper used. And it's hard to look past the Classic 30 for similar money except that tube amps have ongoing maintenance costs and potential reliability issues to factor in.

I have a Bandit and they're great, the only problems are: a) they're quite heavier than the BlackStar, and b) because of its age my Bandit is crapping out and a lot of features no longer work. I basically use it as a clean pedal platform now.

    • @al271987
      @al271987 Рік тому

Your points are well made, but I will say this is a good bit lighter than a Bandit and probably has better volume regulation. The Bandit I played went from almost off to screaming loud with very little in between on the knob. This amp seems like it would able to get those in between volumes better.

@@mr.d.572 Honestly (like a lot of amps) the clean channel is the strong point and also has a lot of range. Don't get me wrong the OD channel is great if you want to be in modern metal territory but for pretty much everything else the clean channel is the better choice. I've also felt this way with plenty of Blackstar amps, they often have an incredible clean channel that does a better higher gain sound than their higher gain channels and that kinda sucks because then what you really want is to be able to switch between various sounds on the same channel but that's impossible so it brings you back to the whole single channel pedal platform thing anyway.

    • @Da_Publick

@@Civic.What happens when you roll off the Gain on the Overdrive channel? I'm assuming it's automatically louder than the Clean channel.

I have this amp, i'm a beginner, so i use it for home practice. I mean, even in the 5w setting at 25% volume it's loud plenty enough for home use. So, at full power i can imagine you can play in the open no problem.

O.K Blackstar(t) me up Andy. I'm coming from anything less than 20Kg can't possibly be serious, is it a Greenback etc. and am only just taking these in so catching up / on (quickly) and noticing similar tonal characteristics across the Blackstar range (which makes sense) and not overly sure if where (the developers have gone to lengths) to place their sound is necessarily the local I wish to dwell, as pleasant and box ticking as it is (and it most certainly is) I'm not sure if the colours are as vibrant as they might be, content shading with pastels until time to serve up the intended (target) sound, which again, is mighty and gorgeous at the same time, those cleans *do* sound gorgeous, though they do not chime, beginning to break long before showing any signs of doing so..
Yeah I love it, but is it niche? I think I'd need to own one and the more I see and hear Blackstar, the more they impress, despite how maybe (and that's a *maybe*) feel about their sound, the Blackstar team have the ethos, the amps coming over as professional despite the lightness, perhaps I just had things so good, perhaps I need to remember this is just solid state.. ..and on on that point, you mentioned Vox and ever more so recently, I'm missing my Q-Series (it was nothing special as such, but it did stuff and had that Union flag, mind you, I don't particularly remember the chime on that either)..

Just a suggestion, D’Addario sell an ear plug set for $50 that are great for blocking up to 20db. That might help with the amp tests. Always protect your hearing. You can’t buy new eardrums, yet.

Blackstar already have a good rep and a lot of the big artists use their gear. then it is expensive lol so yeah makes sense to live up to your rep and offer an affordable solution for those with desires to get enough dough to buy a big model That is ideal for home beginner and gig recording use out bloody Standing lol Sold

back in the 70's my first amp was 3 watts and only effect was a tremolo and this was to go with my 'satelite' .. aka the cheapest nastiest guitar ever made ... i've been damaged ever since ... hence now age 60 i'm about to revisit guitar/amp set up. Anyway, basically, i cannot stand the word 'beginners' should be banned. Great vid but the pitch at beginners at the beginning had me starting to foam at the mouth grrrrr. Kids of today dun't know they're born! Blackstart me up baby!

But, it's not stage worthy ( volume wise) I gig with either my Vox AC4-112 or my Vox Night Train. ....Until I bought an Orange 35rt for grab and go sessions. ( the debut "debuted" on the same day I purchased the 35rt)
Anyway, thanks for playing this in a band setting. Always my deciding factor to hear how it fares with acoustic drums.
