How did you avoid burning out with such an intense schedule? I'm trying to use a similar (though I have a full day of a break on Sundays) schedule, and I still find myself getting a bit tired after about 3 weeks.

I would use AnKing instead of FA. Basically FA in flashcard form, so you are actively learning not passively reading. Golden combo is UWorld + AnKing + Pathoma + BnB (for M1 stuff) + Sketchy Micro/Pharm
Several questions future doctors about dedicated studying period time: When people say here "dedicated studying period" what do you mean by "dedicated" a) How long usually are these periods? b) How many hours a day to study in that period? c) How many NBME's do you do in that period? d) Do NBMEs start being taken in that period, or prior to? e) At what state are you in your studies once that period started? Great video! I'm a MS1 freaking out about next year. I just had a question about how you integrated pathoma into your 2nd year studying. You said you went over it twice before starting dedicated, that seems like a lot of extra time needed on top of the fast pace of 2nd year. What was your system?
It is important for IMGs (international medical graduates) to know that an 8 weeks study plan is most likely not enough for an IMG... I think Kevin is targeting American med students whose (as far as I know) study programs are based on the USMLE exams, so 8 weeks are enough. An IMG mostly need much more time to prepare, 6 months to a year from what I’ve heard
depends on what year in med school you plan to take the USMLE. A lot of IMGs, including myself are on 6 year med school programs, so they take it at the end of their 4th year usually. And there are lots of holidays, like summer holidays you can use as an IMG to study for the USMLE a few years in advance and take like 10+ weeks of extreme dedicated time before you actually take the exam. And then 1-2 years later you take STEP2 CK. I have yet to take either exams, but it's very doable for IMGs. Especially because there are even Americans complaining saying that we have more of an advantage because we have more time to study and get higher scores. That's why the average IMG resident actually has higher scores than the average US MD resident.
Your videos have been really helpful !!! 👍 There are some changes in exam pattern from 4th May, 2020. Could you make a video on preparation for step 1 leading up to dedicated period besides doing well in class, so you can kick ass during dedicated period and maximize your potential?
*This video is on time for me!* I am an international 4th year medical student at Egypt, only 2 days later I was discussing which road I will hit the PLAP one or the USMLE, and I am keeping thinking day and night for what to do 🤔 *So what is your advice?* ...but here in Egypt those who took the exam before are saying it needed them 6-9 months to prepare for the exam !!! And YOU said it's only 2... So who shall I believe?! Thanks for the awesome video and channel 👍👍Big fan of you ..
I think that the 2 months is probably for US medical students, and the trend is that international students would need more time to prepare apparently? I guess if you study diligently throughout your main coursework then it would take the stress off of prepping for the USMLE later depending on the individual.
Same here in algeria...but he said that he went twice on pathoma and FA before those 2 months of preparation, so if you consider that he utilised them during studying his lectures ,then rereading them twice again after the exam prep, he won't need much time passing throw them in that period of prep... in result he won't need more than 4 weeks
TinaOnEarth Yeah, you may be right regarding American and international students, but I can tell you that if I studied my essential courses here in Egypt has nothing to do with USMLE, even if I was no1 on my batch, still the difference is respectable
I appreciate the overview of your schedule during dedicated period. When did you, however, start reviewing your material w/ your concurrent classes in medical school (i.e. before dedicated)?
Awesome Video! Can you make a video on pre-dedicated advice? I am an MS1 who has been doing Bros/Zanki. What advice do you have for those of us who wanted to put in some work earlier than dedicated?
The uworld notes, did you make Anki cards of it? I already hv a first aid deck I use but would you recommend making a deck for uworld or it would be flashcard overload?
How do you take notes on uworld? Just the learning objectives or things you didn't know or weren't found in fa? What's your opinion on annotating uworld info onto first aid vs taking uworld notes in a separate notebook?
Hi, your video is awesome and thanks for it, I have a question, in which part of the schedule are you watching the video lectures of Pathoma? I'm really confused about it, appreciate if you can answer me. Greetings!

Awesome video. I have a question though, why is everyone using other rescources than first aid? Is it incomplete?
Thank you for your information 🙏
I wnt to prepare usmle step 1 exm, and i hope this video is helpful me ✍✍
My life got to point of mess . Now I want to get my life back . I want to take 1 step around December 2021 . In case I will do that good I will take next 2 CK and CS steps and apply for MATCH. But I’m worried cause I already have 9 years gap and last 6 years I wasn’t in medical area. Wish me luck and hope ❤️
Thank you for this video! I’m not sure if I missed this but what was your approach to UW questions. Did you read all the explanations?
Could you make a video on preparation for step 1 leading up to dedicated period besides doing well in class, so you can kick ass during dedicated period and maximize your potential?
*This video is on time for me!*
I am an international 4th year medical student at Egypt, only 2 days later I was discussing which road I will hit the PLAP one or the USMLE, and I am keeping thinking day and night for what to do 🤔
*So what is your advice?* ...but here in Egypt those who took the exam before are saying it needed them 6-9 months to prepare for the exam !!!
And YOU said it's only 2... So who shall I believe?!
Thanks for the awesome video and channel 👍👍Big fan of you ..
Same! I'm studying in Mexico! They told me to study for it the winter break of your 2nd year and create a plan and take the exam in June.
Same here in Jordan they literally tell me I need 6 months 😭😭
I think that the 2 months is probably for US medical students, and the trend is that international students would need more time to prepare apparently? I guess if you study diligently throughout your main coursework then it would take the stress off of prepping for the USMLE later depending on the individual.
Same here in algeria...but he said that he went twice on pathoma and FA before those 2 months of preparation, so if you consider that he utilised them during studying his lectures ,then rereading them twice again after the exam prep, he won't need much time passing throw them in that period of prep... in result he won't need more than 4 weeks
TinaOnEarth
Yeah, you may be right regarding American and international students, but I can tell you that if I studied my essential courses here in Egypt has nothing to do with USMLE, even if I was no1 on my batch, still the difference is respectable
Hey, do you recommend using Osmosis? (or any other supplementary material like Lecturio or Firecracker)
I appreciate the overview of your schedule during dedicated period. When did you, however, start reviewing your material w/ your concurrent classes in medical school (i.e. before dedicated)?
Doesn't Uworld have max 40 question blocks?? I'm confused why your schedule and many others online says 46 - am I missing something?
@@MedSchoolInsiders Oh ok thanks :)
I'm IT programmer, yet I watched that video. Procrastination is my middle name.
Awesome Video! Can you make a video on pre-dedicated advice? I am an MS1 who has been doing Bros/Zanki. What advice do you have for those of us who wanted to put in some work earlier than dedicated?
Hi Can anyone please help me how to find the Excel file and to download it. The sheet is so awesome to track my schedule and stop being unorganized
when did you schedule time to fill in the correct questions and percentages in the timetable ?
Thanks a lot...have one question...does year of graduation matter?
The uworld notes, did you make Anki cards of it? I already hv a first aid deck I use but would you recommend making a deck for uworld or it would be flashcard overload?
How do you take notes on uworld? Just the learning objectives or things you didn't know or weren't found in fa? What's your opinion on annotating uworld info onto first aid vs taking uworld notes in a separate notebook?
Thank you for posting your videos! May I ask which app do you use to make your videos (especially animations with writing hand). Thank you in advance!
When doing you "pre-dedicated" pass of Pathoma, were you taking notes or just watching as a review?
Thanks for the details !!
Hey Kevin Jubbal, the excel file link isnt working. Can you please upload it again ?
Hi, your video is awesome and thanks for it, I have a question, in which part of the schedule are you watching the video lectures of Pathoma? I'm really confused about it, appreciate if you can answer me. Greetings!
I had watched all of Pathoma prior to dedicated
@@MedSchoolInsiders Thanks! Now I understand. I haven't received your schedule yet, is your page working well? I would like to have it. Greetings
I use pretest practice questions and I find them helpful but I didn't take the test yet so I don't know the outcome of it. what do you think med school insiders?
Is the kaplan usmle step 1 kit with the first aid enough for getting 250+ score?
The lecturer notes kaplan
260+ is so high that most foreign medical students cannot achieve it without incredibly excellent students...
I'm a foreigner and I took step 2 CK exam 3 weeks ago , I got 273 . It ain't that hard u just need to understand the questions.
A Jeey congrats! Have you done step 1?
@@anonymousyoutube8341 yes, long time ago , dont lemme surprise you but i found out that step 1 is ways harder than step 2 .
@@ajeey9602 hi, how much Time did u take to preper step 1b
@@skyfull2895 i studied for step 1 while i was in the final year in collage . Took me a solid year to prepare for the exam .

Hi, I am a urologist from bangladesh. I have graduated at 2002. Finished my MRCS at 2007, fellowship in urology from my country at 2011. I have a continuous urology career for the last 16 yrs. I am currently in UK for FRCS Urology. What's the possiblity of getting urology residency after this long gap after graduation?
can you post a video about step 2ck please
Hi.
Which one is better paperback first aid or ebook?
I have the iPad pro 2018 but I like my binder.
Yesenia Medina dude! You need something you can write on.. you need something you can highlight and recreate in your own way and only a real book can let you have that experience! Something solid you can purely adore! I literally have feelings for my FA! So get a book now!!!!
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much for posting this! Definitely will help me when my time comes
Does First Aid include enough knowledge for +260 score
Thanks a lot . your video very useful
Thank you for your detailed strategy and explanation for USMLE!
Do we need to do Kaplan lecture notes and videos and anki too?
Thanks for the advise !!
Do you have an estimation (give or take) of the number of questions you completed prior to step 1? (Including UWorld and/or any other question bank?)
YANSEN I did about 1800 from qmax, all of uworld, and like 6 practice tests (160 ?s each). Scored 255+. There's no set algorithm for success on this exam. Just work as hard as you possibly can, and then work even harder.
Kindly confirm, being a resident in Pakistan could I appear for Step 1 exam from any of the prometric centers located in New York?
what about shower time and travelling times ?
Med School Insiders like the time to travel to the gym and getting back
is it useful to prepare for usmle during second year of med school or should i wait till final year
May I know what are books you used in period of your med school
Alright but when did you go to class?
