I rather just shut it down. I remove all hoses and pump and clean them then store everything in our basement for the winter. I feel this will protect them and increase the longevity of our equipment. My question is what do you recommend on when building a deck do you go above the pool ledge or at the side of the pool ledge or go under the pool ledge? Do you have any videos on this subject?

I don't have any videos on the subject but I usually recommend to go up against the top see or just under the top seat. The idea is that you have to be prepared for having to replace the liner at sometime down the road and you don't want to have to take a skill saw to the deck to be able to take the pool apart.

Is it possible to just drain half the water for the winter instead? Would you recommend that?

From North Dakota here. Yes , about 6 inches below the lowest hole on the side. Take your pump, drained filter and heater if you have one into a heated storage, so any excess water won't freeze and crack anything. Winterizer kit in the water and cover it. I double tarp mine. 24x12 above ground. Has worked for me for 8 yrs . Good luck and Happy swimming

Helpful! Once a week shock throughout the winter. Running the pump around the clock is easy, just turn off the timer!
