We moved into our house w a pool 13 years ago. There's a concrete spa and pool plumbed together with a blower activated by an air pressure switch. No check valve, in fact the blower is just pressure fit onto the pvc and I can pull it off easily. Blower is about 100 feet and up a hill from the hot tub so no water in the blower. This year for the first time it's acting up. It takes 1 to 2 minutes from the time it starts up until the first bubble appears in the spa. And that happens every time I turn it on, and it's never been that way. I'm guessing water now gets into the air pipe and it takes that long for the air to push it's way to the spa. Does that sound reasonable question mark? Can I buy a check valve now? And must I glue or union the blower to the pvc? Thanks sir
Sounds a reasonable deduction yes - taking time to build up pressure to remove the water from the lines. You can do either to the blower - both glue or union would work - you would want the check valve as close to the hot tub as possible - hope that helps Andi
Thank you so much for this video! I'm wondering, it is possible to remove the blower with the tub full with water? Or am I about to initiate noahs ark in my back garden? All the best!
Should be yes, you should not have water backing up to the blower - somewhere in the system should be a hartford loop and a check valve to keep the water out - hope that helps - Andi
very detailed but really needs to be accompanied by photos and diagrams.
Very informative video
Thanks, glad you liked it - Andi

What does course leaks while is new
I have water in my pipe where the blower connects.
Now when I disconnect my blower and turn it on its sucks?? Is this right?? Should it blow or suck??
No, it should blow - hope thar helps - Andi
@@Buildahottub yep that helps but can a blower malfunction and now start sucking air??
@@b3zzwilliams988 never seen that before - that would involve the motor being reversed....very strange
