- Blue Ridge Cabin Home also known as “Blue Ridge Mountain Home,” was recorded by Flatt & Scruggs, leading pioneers of bluegrass music. This performance was arranged by Emory Gaskill and Frank Bailey.

Beaming with Joy 喜洋洋 Liu Mingyuan (1931-1996), 1958
This piece is based on two folk songs from the northern Chinese province of Shanxi. The melody moves among the dizi, erhu, and banhu, each of which provides idiosyncratic embellishments to the tune. This festive and lively piece portrays the outlook of people in the countryside of northern China.

I was at this concert. It was pretty neat to hear Bluegrass tunes being played on Chinese instruments. I used to be friends with Emory Gaskill and I do know Dr. Bailey. I always love hearing Chinese music

More of this please, but with better sound recording. As a Virginia native with bluegrass in my blood, I enjoy the Chinese version very much.
