some sort of 'PAC-4+', or the 'PAAC-4' type upgrade is justified today. An air-launched variant needs to finally be developed too. It shouldn't be rocket science to grasp such a modern urgent requirement?
Yeah, I don't know why they haven't done a significant upgrade to the "big missile". They've done several guidance and warhead advancements over the years but nothing to the basic missile. Supposedly SM-6 is going to get integrated but that seems like a kludge.
There’s a photo of a Super Hornet with an SM-6 under its wing without the booster. Could be a very dangerous weapon as it could targets aircraft from super far away and also ships.
@@ldviper7654 ... it should not be rocket science. Perhaps a single sm6 derivative on the centerline though (?) , coupled w/ a pair of modified air-drop derived ESSM rounds under the wings ? Just augment the wing tip-winders with laser guided seeker for good measure?
