    What a beautiful day for an outing, and a lovely drive. Merthyr Tydfil has a fascinating history, and thank you for sharing your knowledge as I had no idea of its past. It was good to start with a visit to a church and some gravestones as there's something very levelling about reading old gravestones and they are a great source of historic information in their own right. Yes, absolutely rude not to visit a town's charity shops. Always a pleasure! Either you love em or you hate em, and I do love em. A lovely selection of background music today and another brilliant visit. Thoroughly enjoyed it all. Thank you both.

    Thanks for this lovely historical perspective of Merthyr Tydfil . I'm pretty sure we Beachley Boy's went thru there on our way to Sennybridge for our annual summer training in the Brecon Beacons. Does anyone know where my wife and I went over a small bridge and had to pay about 5p to cross over.(2001). We have laughed a few times about that. Lovely video .......

      @LetsgowithTheJohnsons  Рік тому

      So glad you enjoyed the video, and that it brought back memories of training in the Brecon Beacons. That bridge is a mystery to us, but we do remember one that cost 20p in the 1990's but that was near Bath. Thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼

    Oh how I loved this tour. It's so interesting to see where my ancestors might have walked. I grew up in a town founded by the Scottish born, Alexander Arthur, called Middlesborough, Kentucky, built inside an actual crater. I grew up going to our Carnegie library. It now houses our museum about our area. Thank you for the tour!

    Beautiful tour. As a librarian, I learned the history of Carnegie and the foundation to build libraries and other educational spaces and the special architecture plans they were built with here in the US. However, I did not know his early history as a Welshman. That is very cool.

      The decline in Welsh Towns and the valleys is very sad, and it feels like every recession hits us worse as we lost so much through the 1980's and have never really recovered. But we share your hope for the future, and believe in the spirit of the Welsh community, which has endured so much over the centuries but still shines through, will be rise again and see brighter days not just in Merthyr but across our beautiful country. Ri ni yma o hyd! Thank you for your comment and thanks for watching. 🤠😎🐼
