10 friends trikepack the Banks-Vernonia rail trail to camp 2 nights. We started with 8 trikers and 2 dogs but ended up with 10 trikers and 6 dogs. 8 trikes had e-assist. We parked our vehicles at the Banks High School parking lot, which is about a 40 minute drive from Portland, and rode to Anderson Campground in Vernonia
Music: Sunshine, Guggenz

This channel is about all things trikes and travel. I have been riding a recumbent trike since 2005 and have been touring since 2007 all over the world. I have toured on 6 continents, in over 20 countries and cycled more than 50,000 miles.
On this channel I talk about what gear works and doesn't work and offer tips and tutorials. Mostly, I produce short travelogue type videos of my tours as I go. I travel with a Panasonic G95 mirrorless camera with 2 lenses, GoPro, Insta360 One X, Mavic 2 Zoom drone, and, of course, a mobile phone. Thanks for subscribing and following along!

I also have an extensive journal on Blogger that goes into much more detail about the area and the emotional ups and down. The blog has a link to Garmin stats and a map of every day's ride. There are also a ton of pictures. You can find it following this link:

Thanks everyone!!
The wisdom of good FOLDING recumbent trikes is evident on these outings.
You can fit two or three in one SUV.
My wife walked in the room when I was watching this video. She knew it was Portland and said "now that's one place I'd move to." She loves Denver and Colorado, so that's really saying something.
That's really fun, gork57!!
@@TravelsByTrike My disability still isn't allowing me to do distances like your video, but I'd like to get a small trailer for our 2 chihuahuas anyway. I think they'd love a 6 mile ride with dad 😁.
Soothing hypnotic banjo plucking.
Reminds me o f the late John Fahey.
Sylvia,
The blackberries bring back memories of when I was nine and living in Troutdale. My sister and I used to walk along the road which had "tunnels" through the bushes. We would have black fingers and mouths by the time we got home. Also as kids in Gates, one chore we had every day when the berries were ripe was to pick a pail full before we could go play. Mom canned them.
I also saw that the drone isn't "yo-yoing". What stopped it?
Looked like great fun..
bf
The blackberries grow like weeds and we were lucky because there were some ripe. In another couple of weeks there would have been a ton.
Lovely trail and video. I did manage to ride with friends in Washington State on some rail to paved trail paths (Yelm - Tunino; With a Rainer loop) about a 40-mile ride on a cool day. We also hit the Hiawatha Trail Ride. Old train tracks, mostly gravel, on the Washingon/Idaho border. The highlight was a 1.6-mile tunnel ride (I wonder if your drone could follow you for that ride). The first time through the tunnel was OK, the return trip seems like it was colder and raining more in that tunnel, I was covered in mud as my front tires don't have fenders. The rough road broke my rear fender mount.
Thanks, Tom! I'll have to look up that Yelm-Tunino trail - that is a new one to me.
Fun group.nice pictures
thanks!
This is so beautiful. I wish I was one of you
Thanks, Bosis of Sweden. Enjoy your puppy.
Looks like lots of fun on this amazing trip. Many thanks for sharing Sylvia!
Your bike trails in the US look just great, riding on tarmac makes so much of a difference. 😊👍🏻
Thanks, MacTriker! This is one of my favorite trails.
looks like a fabulous ride with great friends! you are fortunate to have so many friends with the same passion and the places to go on a regular basis. wonderful video and sound!
Yes, Mark, we really have a good group of trikers here in Portland that enjoy riding together. Thanks for the nice comment!!
Another fun video. Awesome that the drone can follow through the canopy ☺
Thanks, Patrick! This was a good test. The drone stopped many times when it couldn't negotiate a path forward. In the trees it was sometimes hard to see where the drone was. This was a good test, for sure!
Always love the music to your videos!
Thanks! Until I started doing UA-cam videos I really only listened to classical piano music. I have been having so much fun listening to all different types of music. It's been 'ear-opening', haha!
great video Sylvia! That first vertical camera shot/edit was cool.
Thanks, Bill!!
Looks like you had an amazing trip. I love that 360 camera.
Me too, the 360 is so much fun!
I always dig your music choices on your videos. I’m curious to hear what you select on your next tour.
Thanks, Robert! Just like my last tour, I don't know what the music of Costa Rica and Panama is like. I'm looking forward to learning more about it.
Great video Sylvia! Looked like a lot of fun and the night ride looked great with all the lights. How much of your new gear did you use to try out for your upcoming tour?
And I see that a troll gave you a thumbs down. There is always one.
I got to try a lot and this trip helped me make an important decision about some gear that I don't think will work for touring. I'm constantly refining (and spending more money), haha!
I think someone subscribed just to give a thumbs down to all my videos. I bet they have subscribed to many channels for this purpose.
Travels By Trike
Yup. Sounds like an internet troll, or someone who is jealous.
Oh man when I get my trike I hope I can find a cool group like that too
The USA is so dangerous to ride your bike. If it aren't the cars, then the bears will get you. 😂😂
Great ride and I that camera is great. It looks like that you hold Notting in your hand.
Cougars, cars and bears, oh my!!
What drone are you using ? Great pictures nice job.
What a stunning trail! I would have helped you get those high berries for sure!
We could have used someone taller, Casey!
Travels By Trike well I’m 6’4” - so I’m always happy to stretch out for friends 🥰
The drone did great in the trees. I don't think I've seen the lake-part of that trail before.
The lake is just outside Vernonia and a nice side ride.
Those blueberries are screaming for a bit of quiet honey.
Seem like fun to be whit friends and triking specially 2 days !

👍😉🏔🎥
Thanks, Serge!! We've got a good group of trikers.
Sylvia....
a technical question for you....I filmed a beautiful ride today along Old Silver Beach on Cape Cod today with views of Woods Hole, cranberry bogs, beach, Martha’s Vineyard etc and UA-cam keeps calling them “ invalid videos” and “ unable to read asset”.... they are four or five 2-3 minute videos and I am not able to download them.... any technical advice? I used my I Phone 8 and it seemed to work nicely.....waiting for my Fo Pro to arrive and get set up...
That doesn't sound good but I don't know anything about iphones. When something happens to camera stuff that I can't figure out I, first, search UA-cam and, second, I post the question on Facebook. Someone will know what you are asking. Best of luck!!
Travels By Trike thanks for your input. i think i will go to the genius bar at the apple store as it is obvious i am not the Apple genius! probably something simple, which when shown to be will seem intuitively obvious. I will fill you in and you can check out my postings on youtube...under Mark Feldman
@@markfeldman6509 Definitely do a video about it. I bet lots of people will be happy to have an answer to this question.
Travels By Trike will do! I like to help others. going to sleep now...late here on east coast.....early ride then golf then off to apple store...will schedule appt with them in morning. gnite!./
Do you know how much all your stuff weighs? Thanks 😊
Yes, 37 lbs for all my touring gear with bags. That's human powered. With e-assist, I carry closer to 50 lbs.
Where is the Banks-Vernonia Trail?
40 minute drive from Portland, Oregon
Very nice! Thanks for the videos! I am going to start some walking videos on my channel hopefully soon. Check out the videos I have now.
Where are the dogs? Can a dog run 22 miles though?
Thanks, VietPho! The dogs have carriers on the bikes and trikes to use while riding. The riders stopped to let their dogs out to run around and play. We were in no hurry.
@Travels By Trike Lol. I saw after I finished watching the video. Good dogs. Anywho, if you don't mind me asking, how safe is it (theft wise) for me to park my car in the parking lot opposite of that blue house town during these corona times? The reason I ask is because there has been a lot of car breakins in my neighborhood and I'm not sure if it's a wise idea for me to leave my car out there if it's not a busy parking lot.
@@VietPho I would ask someone in Vernonia how safe the town is. I've always parked at the high school in Banks and ridden into Vernonia.
@@TravelsByTrike I just did my first ride with the Electric Skateboard: ua-cam.com/video/_Q5j5boRUxs/v-deo.html . A few bikers in full out bicycle gear got mad at me for riding on the trail with the skateboard for some reason though. It's unfortunate for Esk8 riders because we're technically not allowed on the bike lanes or sidewalk or most "trails". Where the heck do they expect us to ride. It's too dangerous in the middle of the road. the parking lot seems busy enough to be safe for parking.
@@VietPho How fun, I love it! Don't listen to the bikers. Skateboards are fine on the trails. One thing I regret is not learning to skateboard.
