3:15. If you glue the wheels to the bogie trucks first, then glue the bogie truck halves together next, everything lines itself up. Building one now. Hope it looks as good as yours
I really like the look of your models, they do not look super dirty or damaged making them look real, and your color mixing is also on point for that realistic look.
Thx for the video... Being French I focus on French and allied vehicles used by the French army for the beginning of the war and then also allied vehicles used by the 2nd DB post D-Day. This is a great video of this FCM36 which I hope to do this winter... Love your approach which is quite simple compared to others.
James, superb French tank. I like your hand painted camo color scheme and the realistic weathering. I think the metal parts of the tools could have used a little light touch of Citadel Nuln Oil Gloss shade.
Saw this kit in my local model shop and was really curious. Couldn’t open the box but this review has sealed it for me! Going to get it for sure at some point
what a surprise ! looking good would have never looked at a ICM kit before but things have changed for the better. What you have done is fantastic including the weathering and those pesky rubber band tracks which actually look good once painted and weathered. well done James. 😎👍
Thanks Paul, their newer kits are really nice and getting better, a far cry from their hand mastered kits of the past, although their surface details were really nice the fit was iffy, this fit really well !
Thanks James , I was concerned that the camo would be too " in your face" so toning it down was a smart move, something i would have been too chicken to do a year or two ago 😀
Another fantastic watch and a super build....you are a very talented modeller and a pleasure to watch.....not only what you do but listening to what you say. Your collection must be truly amazing. Will be checking in again when I see that notification in the future!
This is a very nice model. I 'm glad you didn't cover it in mud and pigment, I like very subtle weathering. The only thing that looks a bit odd is the white on the turret top. It looks like melting snow, Even if it was on the colour scheme I think I would have gone back over that myself.
Thanks Allan, I'm not a big pigment user, its too messy and I'll only use it when I need to bulk up for heavy mud effects or on a base, I'll try and achieve a realistic effect with oils or dirt products, when these tanks were used there wouldn't have been too much wet mud so I went for a light dust. Thankyou ! The white patch is unusual but it's definately representative of the camos on these things. imgur.com/gallery/6uLdtMi
Hi i just want to ask is it ok to glue after painting just like you did at 16:11. I want to glue things like shovel and boxes after painting. I try the other day but the glue melts the paint. Any suggestion?
You can but its risky, its better to scrape the paint join back to plastic if you're using styrene cement, you can use superglue though for small items
Excellent weathering James... very authentic looking. Looks like a decent kit although I was surprised to see rubber band-type tracks... not a fan of those. How did you find them?
Truly excellent step-by-step video and end product !! You mention the tracks and yes, I found this is the one difficult feature - so how did you connect the two runs that make up a side ?? They magically appear connected at 14.50 with no visible join. I have not yet found a way that works !! PS - There are too many comments to wade through to see if answered earlier, tbh.
Thanks Steve, much appreciated , all I did was use VMS superglue ( it is less britle and has a slight flex) and clamped em between tweezers for a second
Lovely build! Thinking on buying this one, but as I don't have an airbrush, what do you recommend for brush painting this one? Like which Acrílics Vallejo colours should be used and modules painting orders. Also any alternative for that superglue you used for gluing the parts like tools, exhaust into the painted hull? Thanks.
Beautiful model I have noticed one thing the icm tracks are hard to stick because you are split. What glue do you use to fix them? are they difficult to glue? Thank you
I think you did a great job.. Only thing is the tools kinda stick out. There's no dust on them. And maybe some more definition in the tracks. Just minor crap. Lol
Hi Rick, that's something I forgot in the video, they were just superglued with vms CA, the pins were very small so melting might be tricky but they held well with the glue
@@williameverett8187 the VMS Superglues (flexy 5k CA) have a little flex to them, in my opinion it makes 'em a bit more durable, more give when needed which works well against shearing forces on flat parts but worked equally well for the rubber tracks
This model is so great!!!!
3rd watch!
Thanks folks !
I love your choice of the more unusual subjects. There is more to modelling than Tigers and Spitfires.
Thanks Sera ! I do like some of the more esoteric subjects, keeps everything fresh too
@@lpjmodels looking forward to the next surprise build. 🙂
And here I sit with a Sherman Easy 8, Soviet T34 and a King Tiger within arms reach. LOL
The British night shift...truly incredible work!
Wow what a compliment thanks mate !
Yea I called him that on IG. Dude it’s a title you earned.
@@MrPetarted86 thankyou mate, I still have plenty of catching up to do skill wise to get to Night Shifts level , very kind thankyou 😀
Excellent work.
Early war French tanks - some of the coolest, weirdest designs of the war!
Thanks mate, there were some really cool looking french designs !
Hand painted cammo was especially well done . Regards Gav.
Thanks a lot Gav!
3:15. If you glue the wheels to the bogie trucks first, then glue the bogie truck halves together next,
everything lines itself up. Building one now. Hope it looks as good as yours
Thanks William ! I wanted to keep them movable for paint so I tried very hard not to glue em to the bogie trucks ! Great tip though thanks!
Fantastic camo . Nice kit . Just ordered one. Unusual subject great to see it available in 1: 35 scale.
Thanks David, it's a really cool looking vehicle :)
The weathering is spot on! Ultra realistic.
Thanks Mark !
I really like the look of your models, they do not look super dirty or damaged making them look real, and your color mixing is also on point for that realistic look.
The French certainly did some quirky tanks & camouflage - stunning job there James👍
Thanks James ! They did put out some progressive designs its the camo that always makes me hesitate to do them tho
The hand-painted camouflage was stunning, but I especially liked your approach to the exhaust pipes! Great job!
Thanks John !
I accidentally found your channel! Today was a good day!!

*You did the best with this wonderful kit, as a french modeler i'm amazed by the result! 👍👏👏*
🇨🇵 ! Merci mon amis !
I cant wait to build my first 1.35th model. The parts are going to feel HUGE!! 😁
It's a great feeling putting together your first 1/35, good luck when the time comes 😄
@@lpjmodels thankyou. Got a Walker bulldog coming soon. Will be a step up from 1/48 which stressed me out more than anything 😓
Thank you!
It's hard to find build reviews for modelkits like these...
Brilliant! Particularly great work on the very smooth camo brush painting...
Sweet! I saw this on IG and waiting for this build
Thanks Pete hope you enjoyed it!
Exhausts and tools are excellent!
Thanks mate !
I recommend TrackStory's FCM 36 book as a reference. This was a very colourful vehicle with all sorts of wild camo schemes. I'll be buying one.
I'll take a look thanks Kevin !
Outstanding. Now that I think of it, considering how early this tank was, it was pretty cleverly made, lot of angles and welding.
Your right mate, it was pretty advanced but on the end the welds weren't strong enough
@@lpjmodels Yeah, would have been interesting what could they made if they weren't defeated early.
Wow.. very nice James!
Thanks Julian, I do like my quirky vehicles
Very nice James just love that brushwork.
Thanks Gaz 😊
love how you brought this model to life
Thanks Mackrel !
Amazing model and amazing job 👍💖
James, superb French tank. I like your hand painted camo color scheme and the realistic weathering. I think the metal parts of the tools could have used a little light touch of Citadel Nuln Oil Gloss shade.
Thanks Norman! I dont have any null oil gloss, what do you think it would add ( just out of interest)
@@lpjmodels My idea would be a shade of black towards blue as a gloss filter over the wrench
5th watch for me , I just purchased one, this vid has great hints for me
Awesome that's commitment, it's a great kit you'll enjoy it
Just outstanding! I learned a lot from your commentary. Thank you!!

It's awesome ! The only downside are the tracks. You can get masterclub ones but they can double the price of the kit
unique subject...also like your brush camo, very well executed.

Adding rusty texture with mr surfacer is a great idea, maybe you dont even need pigments at all?
I'm not a huge user of pigments, I like to try and get as close as I can with paint.

They weren't too bad mate, they glued ok with vms superglue, paint sticking might be an issue though..!
Actually, they look like complete crap. They ruin the finished model.
