I am Japanese. Your production and painting techniques are the best in the world! !! Thanks for the great video! Currently, I am making BANDAI 1/15 Sturmgeschütz IV. I am making it by imitating you. It doesn't go well, but ^^;
Just discovered your channel James. Great stuff. Love the format. My girl is like “don’t you get tired of toy tanks”. Jibberish. Looking forward to more.
Im trying hard to get back into modeling after so many years in a rutt..This tutorial was exactly what i was looking for....Inspiring!! Keep up the good work!
It looks excellent James! Top job mate! I'm gonna use it to help me build & paint the 1/16 Takom Panzer 1B I got for half price from BNA models! Thank you for sharing!
Thankyou, Its hard sometimes to remember when I finally get to editing what psi I used so I tend to stick to 20-25 unless I need some special fx or it's a very thick paint. I dont think I mention a lot or ratios but if it's still helpful I'm happy
An immense effort but in the end it was worth it. The result is really impressive👍🏼👍🏼. My honest respect, the model looks absolutely lifelike. Thanks for sharing and greetings from Cuxhaven on the German North Sea shore.👍🏼😁
Such and underrated channel you deserve lot more subs! The model came out incredibly nice! Love the effort with the dust effects, keep the videos coming!
Impressive build James!! I like your weld technique and painting of the tools.. The weathering is fantastic!! I will keep referencing this build when I work on mine..! Looking forward to your next project!!
That’s one massive kit, every I see one I think you would need an industrial gravity feed spray gun to paint it! Fantastic work on the weathering.....that mud effect is awesome! Thanks for sharing!
a 1/16 Pz I is tiny in comparison to other 1/16 scale German Panzer RC/Models, such as Hooben's RC "Maus" which is the biggest you'll find on the market in 1/16.
A fantastic build, James.....you certainly created a very realistic, beautifully weathered and worn model tank. It's always such a pleasure watching (and listening to) your builds so congratulations for another outstanding 45:11 minutes. Robert
I to I’m trying to get back into model making, so much has changed since my last build about 40 years ago. I’ve not seen you before but I loved the detail you went through on that build, you’re very easy to listen to and all the stages are easy to follow so I will be following you for more hints as I try to get back into the hobby I loved years ago. Brilliant thank you very much.
Nice job. For wood handles, I have painted the handle with a light brown and then burnt sienna oil paint, left to dry for a while and then “dry brushed” off with a clean brush. It leaves a nice stain. For rusty exhaust, baking soda can be used for a nice effect, but care must be used because too much baking soda just builds up into a mess.
Just starting modelling after not doing any since I was a kid ( I’m in my fifties now ). I have watched loads of videos, and yours is by far the best ! Subscribed and can’t wait to watch the next video, the painting and weathering on this tank is amazing !! Keep up the great work 😃
Hi William, the best way to start is to use the FAQ page on the Mission Models website, once you get the gist they are a very good paint. Thankyou very much !
GREAT build and video production. I, for one, appreciate the warnings about ejector pin marks and removal, the tight fit of the fenders to the lower hull, etc. You show how these "glitches" are easily overcome. Your tracks and on-board tools are super. And, the piece de la resistance is your mud effects. In this large scale they are fantastic. You have a new subscriber, James. THANK YOU!
Lawrence thankyou very much, I'm glad you like the video and the tips, I feel bad if I say the kits fine when parts might be a pain, I may not go into tonnes of detail but the warning is there. Thankyou for the sub , much appreciated!
Nice job!!,...in my opinion, one mistake that most of the modelers make is to not to weather the decals, so, in contrast with the rest, they look brand new. Some washes on them or even cut some parts off, may give a more realistic effect.
Thanks Javier thats a good point, when I get around to using masks things like that will be a lot easier to weather, just need to get in gear and find some
JUST ABSOLUTELY AMAZING the attention to detail is out of this world you have made that model so much more with all the detail you have added it's like a miniature of the real thing you half expect to see little men jump into the tank and drive it away as it looks that real well-done sir. Plus you have made the video interesting in the way you filmed it and overdubbing top marks have subscribed and liked.
Hi, great job! I think the mud is perfect, I think too many modelers don’t go far enough with the caked on mud, look at old photos, lots of mud in all the nooks and crannies . The oil/grease was great as well, just look at heavy equipment, lots of oil and grease oozing 😁.
That right there is a thing of beauty! Can't help thinking you just shrunk a real one though! Also, found out a couple of days ago that if you're really in a pinch for primer, humbrol enamel paint works a treat, goes down as well if not better than any primer I have used before over bare plastic, and doesn't scratch half as easily as the acrylic primers I have tried, and since I always leave primers to dry overnight, the fumes are the only real downside, but if you have a spray booth, that will deal with those for the most part anyway
Great Video mate. Great Result. Re. Spring issue. I pull apart Any lighter I use. (BiC normally.) They have 2 Springs inside. Which I use if the Scale looks Right. Please make sure the Lighter is Flat or Empty to be Safe..!! Just an Idea..!? Cheers kim in Oz. 😎
Nice one 👍🏻 Awaiting the arrival of a Tiger 1 in 1/16. It will be the first large scale armour yet to tackle, but a lot of good tips when I get around to finishing it.
Amazing. I love what you did to your Panzer I Ausf. A. I started a 3D replica of the Panzer I on Blender as part of creating my own collection of WW2 vehicles, tanks, aircraft and warships, and I'm pretty sure this video will help me with some details to conclude my model.
Awesome job it turned out so real looking and just amazing. I really love the wood grain look you did on the tools. Keep up the great work and stay safe.
Great job, and; a good video. I'll say this, that Tres Semme hair spray sprays out just about like that over here in the US. Rather than use a name brand like that, go to a Walmart or a pound shop (think that's what it is in the UK), and buy the very cheapest you can find. The cheaper it is, the easier it is for the water to activate it. In other words not a good spray for hair, IS a good spray for modeling. Also, you can spray some out in the cap and then pour it over into an airbrush cup. Don't know if I would do that in a Harder & Steenbeck, but; a $20 Amazon special would be just the ticket. I'm all for getting the best result, using the least amount of money. I'm going to have to get one of those Panzer I's and see if I can find a 1/16 figure of some sort to stick in the hatch. Good show. Happy modeling, my friend!
Thanks Stephen! I have an old sparmax that would do the job nicely I think. I'll pick up some cheap and nasty stuff and see if I can get a better activation many thanks for the tip. Someone mentioned Jeff Shiu figures jeffshiu.lsft.com/product37.html The site is a bit awkward but there are some awesome larger scale figures on there.
I've spent about 10 years watching modelling videos on UA-cam. I have a lot of favourites and everything from planes, tanks, and ships to science fiction. You, sir, are easily one of the best I've seen. Your work is impressive but what REALLY brought this build to life was that mud you were afraid of! Totally launches this to the next level. Best video yet and that's coming from a guy that's drooled over your Fokker E.II video more than once! Bravo :)
Michael thankyou, that's huge praise and great feedback. I need to stop being chicken with weathering effects, I think what pushed me to use a thicker mud was that the oils I was using before although great, weren't 3d enough. The gamble paid off thankyou.
Just be careful not to use superglue with lead solder, a lot of people have found that a few years later they react together and destroy the model. I use aluminium or copper wire.
A lovely model James, very realistic weathering. Brilliant video and great commentary, much better than music. I worked with tanks as I was in the MoD for my working life. I noticed that, unless tanks had been continually ploughing through really deep mud, they tend not to have a lot of clods of mud on their suspension but tanks do kick up a lot of dust in drier conditions and get a good even coat of dust over everything. You mentioned springs and I saw that the Takom spring was not too realistic. It is possible to make springs out of solder wire which is very soft and easy to work but once glued into position is quite ok for detail.
Hi Allan thankyou, the tips will help future builds as well, I hadn't thought if using solder. The mud on this one was done without a lot of reference so I appreciate your info !
Hi I'm not saying your model looked wrong but once a tank full of mud gets on a half decent track the clods of mud tend to dissipate from the tracks and suspension quite quickly leaving a thin layer of mud that on a model would look more like a dusty pigment.
I haven't done a kit for year's you know things like wife's kid's mother in law and dogs getting in the way lol but i am definitely starting again and this kit you did was bloody amazing 👍
Killer! Thank you, for the time and effort you put into these videos! Such a vast array of knowledge/information, in a very clean and concise presentation… for free. 🙏🙌
What an amazing work.I just made my first kit a Tamiya Abrams in camo and i have a Zvezda Panzer IV comming but all those weathering effects seems intimidating...
This is both motivating and intimidating at the same time.
Please don't be put off ! The kit builds itself and has a great scope for trying new techniques
The way you manage to make the panzer gray look so realistic and absolutely not boring leaves me litteraly speachless.
I am Japanese. Your production and painting techniques are the best in the world! !!
Thanks for the great video! Currently,
I am making BANDAI 1/15 Sturmgeschütz IV.
I am making it by imitating you. It doesn't go well, but ^^;
Hello ! Thanks a lot that's really encouraging!
1/15 Stug? That sounds awesome ! Nice and big too.
Thanks for the message and happy modelling !
Watch this video always with round eyes and open mouth... thank you for this MASTERPIECE !!! Stay safe and best regards! Frank
Very kind Frank thankyou !
New benchmark in modelling.
Really nice model James.

Best yet. Brilliant attention to detail. Thanks.

Fantastic! Thanks for giving such information as air pressure for airbrushing, paint mix ratios and other things.

the tank is very nice
Fantastic work on the tracks! The mud and grease look great.
Thanks John !
Third time of watching James and learn something new each time. Keep em coming fella you’re a constant source of inspiration
Thankyou my freind ! Sorry for the late reply as well !
OK! Excellent work! You've inspired me. I've Ordered mine today. I'm surprised at how little these cost.
Thanks Graham, if I had more time I'd build several more :D
You literally make the PzKpfw I look good. Excellent work.
Thanks Peter !
Really excellent build dude - particularly noteworthy the realistic wood effect on the tank tools.Well done
Thanks Tankman ! I put a lot more effort into the tools as the model was so much bigger than I'm used to. It paid off !
Outstanding build again my friend, the mud effect turned out perfect in my opinion😉🤓👍💙stay safe guys and keep the builds coming👍
Thanks mate ! They will keep coming! Take care, James

UNREAL, or actually, REAL! Holy crap! You sir are a master!
So many things to be learned here. Great detailing and weathering effects. I love that burnt iron look on metal exhausts. Great build! 👍

That's probably the best shovel I've ever seen on a model. I have one of these coming on a very slow boat from China. I look forward to it!

Use solder for springs. Works great.
Just be careful not to use superglue with lead solder, a lot of people have found that a few years later they react together and destroy the model. I use aluminium or copper wire.

A lovely model James, very realistic weathering. Brilliant video and great commentary, much better than music.
