This is a review of the third new medic for the GI Joe team - Stretcher. Mostly remembered for his odd jet/hover platform, the figure has the look of a comm-tech trooper with recon abilities, rather than a medic. Most collectors believe he takes over for Doc (1983) when that character is killed in the comic #109.

when i had this guy i never used him as a medic. i used him as a forward observer and artillery coordinator. he had a smoke grenade launcher to mark targets for incoming air strikes like an airforce combat controller

Hmm. Is it possible that Stretcher was a shelved sculpt from Battleforce 2000? That would explain a few things.

I always thought it was neat that of the 3 medically themed Joes, they were each given a different specialty. Doc was the proper Doctor of the group, Lifeline was the frontline EMT and Stretcher was the Medevac guy. They could easily work together as a proper 3 man medical unit.

It's funny. I always imagined Stretcher's "weapon" was some sort of device for giving injections. Yojoe also has it listed as a flare gun though. He's a decent figure, but the accessories are a real mixed bag. I didn't get a Stretcher figure until I was an adult, and I was lucky that I got mine complete. I got him for a relatively decent price as I recall, but I don't think he's a very popular or well known character. Lifeline was always my favorite medic, both because of his colors and his "suitcase."

great review. i had forgotten about this figure till it come up in suggested. I agree the flying board is a very odd accessory to give to a medic and very impractical

I got home from a friend but the original bottom half of his leg was lost to time and I replaced it with a lower leg from am old CORPS! figure

Maybe his hover pad is something that's deployed out the back of a helicopter when it's flying low so he can carry delicate equipment like radios for dispatch where as rescue is diving out of a helicopter like the coast guard. So maybe he is hovering over the scene either giving orders or relaying the situation back to command.

Why couldn't they use a Red Cross? Doc had one.

+Galaxy of Toys Doc had an orange cross, it's not red. That was another attempt by Hasbro to bypass the Red Cross copyright.

Great video as always. I checked my Stretcher figure and the grip on the stick is facing the correct way. Could there have been a running change?

+Kevin Dougherty It is possible, Hasbro is well known for making running changes. All of the examples I've seen have them facing the wrong way, so if it was corrected - it is a rare change! Please photograph your control stick, I'd love to see it and add it to my Facebook photo album.

Could the serial number be a nod to someone who worked on the figures?
