The Helium escape valve is not needed ‘underwater’ 😉
The Seamaster 300 (heritage model) is very underappreciated, and if I were in the market for a dive watch it would be my first choice.
Rolex makes solid watches; the bezels and the dials are beautiful, the brcelets are top quality.
But I just can't wrap my head around those cases that look like a chunky, hexagonal "slab of steel" with a circle pinned on top; they really puts me off.
The curved surfaces of the Omega's "lyre lugs", on the other hand, are simply beautiful.
I use the neo vintage SMP sword hands for effective beach, pool... as for my Sub, it's a 1967 5513 I wear it as an exceptional collection vintage piece, never in the water. No real interest in expensive pieces for effective diving or swimming.
BTW just bought a JC 126660 below retail with some of the proceeds. Take a walk around HK and Rolex hold their values relative to inflation like nothing else barring the next hype piece.
I stay with Omega
If you want a Sub, buy a Sub. I had both and sold the 300M. Even though I bought the 300M first, I was still longing for the Rolex.
I think in the Sub you pay for the status & finishing. if you are just comparing numbers then the diver wins as its 40% cheaper for almost same specs ( if the 15 hours power reserve delta doesn't meant much to you) . If you can afford the sub & ready to wait take it as it looks better on the wrist and holds its value . Else the diver is a good choice. For me I would wait for the sub @ retail.
Whatever pleases you, I own both 😊
I’ll take both
Just sold a Sub, DJ and SM all bought on the grey market between 10 and 15 years ago. They were all every (other) day wear, never polished. Sub and DJ fetched 3x what I paid. SM was -30% what I paid and that was the only one serviced because it stopped working.
I have 3 subs, and one Seamaster. All different watches, the Sub is as perfect as it gets.
Clear case backs make the watch thicker. Still, omega is more appealing without endless waitlists and mandatory polishing of your watch being maintained.
Yes on the case back. I wish the Seiko 5 did not have them.
Good show, mate
@@yousif4646 thank you! 🙏🏻
Omega 100%
A day extra power reserve is just a little bit more 😂
easy choice, get a Seiko turtle.
“So the clear winner when it comes to specs is going to be…” and you said Rolex??? What?
What is so confusing to you?
Rolex Sub. Every other dive watch is a cheap imitation. And I have both.
Imitation of what? You mean Rolex submariner also an imitation of the blancpain?
@@franc101978 nope. Rolex executed the Sub far better than Blancpain did with the 50 Fathoms. One became a cultural icon the other faded into obscurity (except amongst watch geeks).
@@gec-o2167 how is the omega seamaster 300 a copy of the Rolex ? I don’t see anything remotely similar
Except the Seamaster has been around since 1948; five years before the birth of your sacred Submariner. Sorry to piss on your cornflakes.
I’ve owned both and the Sub 124060 is defiantly a step above the Seamaster 100% !
No questions but is it $4K better? Probably not.
@@kramerthewatchguy it depends on if you think silky smooth bezel the oyster bracelet with the glide lock system is worth paying the extra for ? maybe not but that’s personal preference, for me the extra £2450 is defiantly worth it ! It’s close between them no doubt their both solid choices, but as an everyday dive watch the sub is the clear winner that’s why still have my 124060 sub and have sold the SMP Diver 300…all personal preference of course 😁
What ‘Hoops’ did you jump through dude?
It’s funny it’s the awful SMP 300 that always gets mentioned, when the 600/Planet Ocean is actually a very nice watch, and the true Rolex competitor 🙄
Rolex Sub by a mile. The Omega is so goofy. 2 crowns, weird handset, mediocre bracelet, low beat movement.
The old 36mm smp 300 were really nice through
I’m not under the impression a higher beat rate is automatically better. Agree with the rest of your comment but you might want to reconsider beat rate. Rolex has its advantages but Omega movements are their strong point. I don’t think the Omega is in the same league as the Sub in other respects particularly build refinement. Omega is close but just close not equal.
@@Real_Natural the omega has a lower beat rate and lower power reserve, kind of weird
If the names were reversed all the Rolex fanboys would be choosing the one with the 2 crowns and I leave it at that
No, that’s just not true. The smp 300 is just an ugly, worse watch. The sub is perfection
@@mema4922 you are a Rolex fanboy
@@franc101978 I have an aqua terra. The smp 300 is just a terrible, ugly watch. The submariner embarrasses it.
If you want a watch, get the Seamaster. If you want to beg for months or years for a watch, then get a Submariner.
I generally just ask once.
How many times have you begged?
Neither.
Submariner if you are man enough to get one out of an AD
Seamaster at a big discount if you are not.
Seamaster at list if you are a little girl 😂
If we’re talking about at MSRP i’ll definently go with the Sub all day.
