I remember the first time my grandma made them. It smelled so good. Imagine my surprise when I found out she frying up tomatoes and green ones at that. Been hooked since 07 😂 When I make them I prefer them to be sliced thinner than most people tend to cut them. It has a really nice crispyness to them when you fry them up. I’m a northerner and never made fried green tomatoes at home before. Had a few end of season green tomatoes from my wife’s new garden and thought I’d give making them a try. Used this recipe because it seemed simple and because this guy just screams trustworthy southern chef. Turned out amazing. Super easy to make and they were incredible. Legit.
Doing this soon , my neighbors had a bunch of green tomatoes no one else wanted , also making a big batch green tomato salsa verde , thanks for the recipe, this is the first one that popped up on my UA-cam feed and looked the best so don’t have to scroll no more lol Thanks 🙏 ❤

@@kellyteran2039 Yep back a few years ago we had a veggie garden in the backyard and tried growing tomatoes. It didn't work out at all sadly. We tried for a few years to get all of the veggies to grow, but they wouldn't. Something to do with the soil I guess. The ones that did were eaten by a bunny that apparently has taken up residence in the backyard lol. So we just removed the garden. Now there's a custom-built potting shed in its place. I will say that I have seen the movie Fried Green Tomatoes and rather enjoyed it ha.
Just tried this recipe because I had them for the first time in New Orleans. I made them exactly how you said and they came out perfect. 👌🏾 Feels good when you can follow a recipe and have it come out like something you tasted at a restaurant.
🤔 I've never thought to fry them with creole seasoning. I think he's on to something good right here! Need to try this the next time we frying pan trout and catfish

When I was a little boy growing up in Los Angeles in the sixties and seventies I thought that this was a little something that my mother was just throwing together from growing her own lil garden. My mom was a master cook and had the ability to just come up with anything based on what she had left in the house and it ALWAYS ended up better than outstanding. Well I was blessed with her skill to throw down in the kitchen and just create some good eating. However I was not anointed with the speed in which she had but it's all good you can't have it all. But I digress. When I became an adult and moved to Georgia is when I realized that fried green na'matoes was actually something out of the south and not one of her creations but I'm good with that just as long as I can still cook them. I never got her recipe for them it was something that I just put 2 and 2 together and figured it out. Lol!!!!! Out

I like using big bowls with lids; same concept though. It's just less waste and bags that I need to buy. Been doing it for years and years with chicken, fish, shrimp, hell anything that you want to use a dry mix on really.
Being from Tennessee i crave fried green maters constantly and there are so many different ways to make them.. seasoned wise that is, but these look great. The best i have found is your favorite seasoning but add that parmesan cheese always and you won't regret it.

These turned out so good! I changed up the recipe for the sauce & replaced the relish (because not a fan) with bang bang sauce & used Dijon mustard instead of regular mustard but still used mayo. It was so good, as good as any restaurant I have had!
They look delicious! One of my favorite sides! You ooowwwee sauce is the base for my tartar sauce. I just add lemon juice, green onions, & a touch of creole seasoning.

Always use a grocery aka tshirt bags to coat food with flour. Less four waste, much better coating, faster cleanup.
