Some quick differences between Space Marine 2: Recruit Edition (SM2:RE) and Space Marine: The Board Game (SM:TBG): - SM:TBG uses thick card stock for the game board (SM2:RE uses heavy, folded paper) - SM:TBG has many more miniatures (23 vs 12) - Basically double the number of Termagants and Ripper Swarms - SM2:RE includes plastic clippers / paintbrush / 5 paints (Approx. $30 value), while SM:TBG has none of that - SM2: RE manual is 48 pages (vs 40 in SM:TBG) - Extra 8 pages in the SM2:RE set offer painting tutorial/tips So my take: - Brand-new player who wants the Titus mini and needs paint, tools, and minis and can't spend more than $65 -- SM2:RE is the best choice - Brand-new player who wants the Titus mini, needs paint, tools, and minis, and can afford a bit more: SM:TBG from Target ($40) plus the GW paint and tools set ($38 street) is arguably the better value (SM2:RE = $65 / SM:TBG + GW Paint and Tools = $40 + $38 = $78) - Plus with the latter you get 5 more paints AND the mould line remover tool. - Brand-new player who doesn't necessarily want Titus, but needs paint, tools, and minis - 40K Introductory set is a better value (~$50 street vs. $65 retail for SM2:RE)
Thanks for the question! Unfortunately, it's only available at brick and mortar Warhammer Store locations at the moment, but hopefully that will change in the future! Here's GW mentioning the current "Warhammer Store Only" detail: www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/2IpQdtav/warhammer-40000-space-marine-2-recruit-edition-brings-lieutenant-titus-to-the-tabletop/
Great Video!! Did you notice much of a difference between the first Space Marine board game against the newest Space Marine 2 board game? They seem very similar to me!
