    Hi! I would love a flip through of the note taking workbook and the SAT one please. Thank you!

    Thanks for sharing the curriculum choices! I would also like to see a flip through of Mosdos. I'm trying to decide if this would be a good fit for our family. 😊

    I’m using Mosdos with my 7th grader too! He’s using down a couple of levels because of his dyslexia, but even two levels down is so rich so far.

      I really don't feel like the level matters too much. We have several levels and I have found that the interest in the stories is most important. ❤our favorite level was the one for "6th grade".

      I never considered how each level may be different. I do agree that the stories are probably what hold the child’s attention. Thanks for sharing!

    I'm looking forward to your thoughts on MPL once y'all have used it for a while.
    What do you guys plan to use for the History of Africa?
    Great picks! ❤

    We have used IEW on and off for several years and I agree with the mixed reviews. For one child, he needs the structure and clear expectations of IEW. My other two don't like how involved it is. My son who uses it doesnt love it, but it is the best program for him. My best advice is that it is A LOT, so do not feel bad if it takes longer than a week once you get to longer assignments. One level tends to take my son 1.5 years to complete, and i am ok with that. He works a little more slowly, and writing is his biggest struggle, but if he is consistently making progress, the extra time needed does not matter. IEW suggested this approach to us, slow it down if needed, make it challenging but not overwhelming.

    So many great choices! I’d love to see a video on how you schedule the different components…how many times per week etc, especially all the ELA components.

    Mosdos!!!!! Yay!!!! Please do a flip through of the anthology when you have time. It’s just so beautiful, and the content is very rich. I would also love to see an in-depth flip through of the student workbook. I hear that it’s very different from the Pearl level, which we have, so I’m curious about that. I’ll be interested to hear how you get along with the teacher guides. They were way too “classroom-y” for me, so I didn’t use them. For us, there’s so much depth in the anthology and the workbook, that trying to add in the teacher guides was just overwhelming. But maybe I will pick up some tips and tricks from you! 😃

      I would love to see inside too. I will be using Mosdos Jade as well for my rising 7th grader. I’d love to get an idea about how you will use/plan this in her week. We’ll be doing MBTP as well for literature. 😅

    So many great choices! I love Mosdos, but for some reason my kids do not😅 I am determined for them to try again. We use literature based, but find if we get behind in the book reading we get off track. I love Mosdos is short stories so it is easier to keep on track. We didnt usually do the writing parts. Just vocab, the literary elements, etc. I hooe your daughter enjoys, it really is rich and wonderful. Fingers crossed mine will come around to it next year when we try again.

    • @LifeofTillmans
      @LifeofTillmans  26 днів тому

      Oh no, hopefully they will come around. I agree it can be easy to get off track with literature curricula. She has been flipping through it constantly so I’m thinking she’ll be good with it. We’ll see and I’ll definitely do updates as we move along. ❤️

    We just completed SS1B. We started in 6th grade and completed it in 7th. My son's writing improved and it gave him great writing tips.
    My advice is to take your time. The videos can be long. It took us two years purposely because my son used a timer. After 30 minutes he could be done with the lesson for the day. There's a lot of video pausing because they write during the video. The timer helped a lot! My son also liked his jokes but he's an old soul so he understands dry humor.
    This year we're going to try EIW just to compare the two. Overall it was a great experience and I recommend it.

    We have found IEW to be very helpful with note taking skills as well because the focus on keyword outlines.

    Loved MBTP Esperanza Rising!!!! It was one of our favorites. Easy Grammar 8 has many analogies in it, too. Ohhh...study strategies for teens...can't wait to hear how you like this. IEW will help with the note taking as well.

    • @LifeofTillmans
      @LifeofTillmans  Місяць тому

      I know she’ll pick up on some things by doing the Lit study that she didn’t before. Easy Grammar helped me realize we needed a little more work on analogies. Have to learn how to study. 🙌🏽 Someone else also mentioned the note taking with IEW. I’m excited about that as well!

    I love all these topics you cover. I am ending my first year homeschooling with my 5th grader. Looks like we will be changing to Saxon 7/6 for next year which really is why im here...your oldest is a yesr ahead of mine so im sort of folloeing your math pathway. Otherwise i was looking at horizon, which i think you looked at in the past. Im super curious to see what your schedule looks like.

    • @LifeofTillmans
      @LifeofTillmans  Місяць тому

      I definitely think Saxon 7/6 was the better option when I compared it to Horizons 6, which seems to be more of a review of what my middle daughter had already learned from doing levels 4 & 5. We decided not to do Horizons past level 5. She will be moving into Saxon as well. My oldest daughter really loved Saxon 7/6! It was a huge growth year for her when it came to math. I’ll also be doing a planning video soon. 😀

    • @budubeebobop
      @budubeebobop Місяць тому +1

      @@LifeofTillmans oh THANKS good to know about horizon. I'm actually a little concerned that what is in Saxon is what she's already done, but I can be ok with that...as long as she has the foundation for pre algebra in 7th grade. Will be good to hear what you are thinking of 8/7 when you're in it

    • @LifeofTillmans
      @LifeofTillmans  Місяць тому

      @@budubeebobopComing from Horizons I would definitely do the placement test. My middle daughter tested into 8/7 after having completed Horizons 5. Horizons is somewhat advanced.

    We're using Mosdos Press Jade for my rising 7th grader next year too! Is your daughter going to be using the student workbook? We didn't purchase it but I am wondering if I should. Also, if you find some sort of schedule for Mosdos, please come back and let us know! I can't figure out how to pace it.

    Just the study skills book in my cart. If you do get both (middle school version) would you mind telling me if the content is similar?

    • @LifeofTillmans
      @LifeofTillmans  2 дні тому +1

      I have both now! There are some similarities however not enough that I would take one of them back. And with those similarities the information is presented in a different way. I’m going to start with the middle school one and work our way to the teen book. It will be good to review the few topics that are similar as they get a little older.
