The Toast that’s still 100 mph. No road in the US allows that speed... not does any law in the US endorse the use of phones while driving. But whatever. He’s a trained professional so it makes sense.

That is not a sound of the V8, that's the 3 cilinder engine's sound propegated through the aplifier and then the speakers.

I mean I got one and the reason that my family got it was it was comfortable, fast, nice looking, and still was somewhat environmentally friendly. Though it was not the fastest it is fast and a fun awd, safe car with a full carbon fiber bucket (I got the normal one)

@s n 0-60 in ~4s and it's close to as efficient as an Prius. What's there to hate about? Seriously...it also has cool doors that go up. Remember, this is not an M-car. It is an i-car. Speed is NOT the nr. 1 priority.
Just gotta appreciate the engineering on the I8.

The back of the car is one of the most handsome I’ve ever seen. The overall appearance makes me fall in love with this car
Such an interesting car design, with an astronomical level of innovation for drivetrain efficiency. I remember first seeing this car alongside a new NSX and the ALFA 4C, and realizing the i8 is a much more eye catching car than either of them kirsty by watching the people at the autoshow. Though I'd rather have the NSX as a performance car, the i8 would make a great daily driver for the attention seeker.

@@mode_in_Poland I didn't say it had a large engine, I said 136+ isn't slow, which is great for a car who's main focus wasn't doing hauls on the autobahn.
I did the same last spring and that's when I really begun to love this car. It's really stunning how everyone clears the lane for you. And yes, it's a damn fast car thanks to the genius combination of ICE and E drive. Acceleration feels so easy when the full E-torque kicks in with E-Boost. An amazing car!
Of course everyone clears the lane its not something special to make space if a car is behind you
If you would feel an RS6 you would never ever Touch an i8 again. And the Prince and track Performance distance is not big.

Raced one of these down 495 in a Red Lexus 2019 sedan and got wit it the whole way down
Even though the BMW i8 has a boosted speaker sound it is still amazing! The design too! 158 MPH is a decent top speed!

Yea it's way overpriced, This car is worth 150k after taxes and options and it only has 369hp (With no tuning capabilities because of the small engine). You can get a dodge hellcat for under 60k and tune it to make 1000hp because of the engine and its beefy v8. bmw i8 is only worth realistically 40-50k.

It's part of the law. You're not allowed to overtake people from the right, people need to go to the most right lane if they can.

Because there is no speed limit. No matter how fast you go, there is always someone who goes even faster. So you expect him to be able to overtake, therefore you move right when possible and when you have no disadvantage from doing so. You expect this also from your fellows, so it's a game of giving and taking.
You guys seemed to be quite familiar with the law are you guys from part of Europe cause singapore hasn't incorporated such rules(overtaking only on the right side /and roads with no speed limits) yet

I had the pleasure to play with an E36 M3 on the Autobahn. No chance for him. The E-Boost of the i8 alone makes such a hughe difference while accelerating. Who never drove that car shouldn't say anything 😉

If you can afford a bmw i8, why not just buy an m8?
or an amg with an actual v8 that goes faster, for less. BMW i8 is 150K before taxes and options, You can get a dodge hellcat or amg for under 80K and it has all the luxury features. You can actually get the 2020 corvette which has almost double the horsepower for 65k.
Disciple of Shoopy dude I like your point about a Dodge Hellcat but there are flaws with that car man. The gas mileage is absolutely atrocious vs this i8. The reason many rich people buy these is because they don’t necessarily enjoy going fast but rather just want something that looks cool but makes a comfortable, quiet, and economical highway cruiser. Also, if you buy a hellcat, you need to prep the tires in order to put any power down on a street surface, and even if you do, it will still be difficult to do so. The advantage of German engineering is that they made the M8 with over 600hp and AWD that is smart enough to put every single ft-lb of torque down without any wheel spin, and still be able to disconnect that system so you can do lunatic hellcat things as well.
