Thanks for watching I really do appreciate it! As for the capacity I’ll put it this way not as much as you might think.

Great video! Been working on building some pens to feed some cattle as something else besides our pairs in the winter. How do you come up with your feed rations? Is there a resource you use?

Find a nutritionist come up with a ration and feed what you can afford. Depends on how you’re going to market as well. Backgrounding? Finishing?

@@farmerintheboot4089 mostly backgrounding is my plan currently. Maybe finish a few to see how it works. We generally background our calves on some wheat pasture but would like to buy some more to do as we have time

How many cattle does a single load feed/ how many Cu/ft is the mixer? I understand it depends on the ration but I'm looking for averages.

    • @farmerintheboot4089

Ours is an 850 on a finisher ration we can put about 12000 lbs on one load. Depending on how well the cattle are eating I’d say you can feed on average 450 head of fat cattle. It really depends on how they’re eating, what ration they’re on and how big the mixer is. We’re a pretty small operation but just going off a finisher ration where the load calls for mostly grain, that’s what we average. Hope that answers your question.

What you do when it’s raining ?
If I want to grow beef cattle from 150kg to 350 kg 400kg do I have do build a barn or can I grow under the sky without any roof ??
If you have a full rainy day ? Is it not a problem for feeding them?

If it’s raining it gets muddy. Cattle weren’t created with a barn over there head. They are animals meant to be outside. We’ve had years where it rained nearly every week. We had lots of mud it’s not the most ideal situation you do your best to keep them comfortable. Haul the mud away put bedding down. If you have concrete that helps. Idk where you’re located but you may have to check your local laws. In some parts of the US your required to build a barn after so many head of cattle. Idk about other parts of the world.
