    Best, worst $10 spent! LOL! I think we all had some that were help together with everything we could come up with and a lot of hopes and prayers!! I know my heads up turbo hopper was mostly dental floss and super glue by the end of its days!! I am very impressed that you still have it and you were able to get it up and running once again! Looking forward to seeing bandit #2!

    Extra points on the body. I also keep my first "full" function RC's body shell (a small nikko hilux)pretty much as I last modified it as a kid.

      That is the way to do it. There are lots of mint ones, its better to have yours full of history.

    Same story with me. 😂 had a friend who's parents were better off. So my friend had every new famous toys of that Era and I finally was able to gather enough of my toys up for him to trade me. That and he wanted the heads up Turbo Hopper so his parents bought him that so he traded me and I got the Bandit. And stick to this day I love those Nissan HardBody 1:1 trucks

    My family could only afford the “turn in reverse” cars that were wired to the transmitter. I never had a “real” rc car until the early 2000’s when I was in college.

    I remember that generation of RC. Here in Australia we got practically everything you are showing or referring to. I remember not having one of these, but I had a Jet Hopper, and a tank like vehicle with a kind of spaceship like body. That I cant remember name of, whether it was a Tyco product or not.

      I know the one you mean. I think that was the car that came after the Nikko Turbo Panther. Same chassis but with a crazy aero body!

    This makes me wish I'd saved all the heads up turbo hoppers, Fasttraxx, Typhoons, and Bandits i had over the years but also makes me really glad i didn't. We had a Christmas tree farm and I'd cut trees like a mad man and save my tips all season to buy RC cars. Sadly they were pretty much disposable back then. I didn't know how to get parts if it was possible and usually it was the same parts breaking so spares from old ones rarely worked.

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  6 місяців тому +1

      All those companies made it hard to get parts. Years ago I had a parts list for them that you could order from Tyco. I have zero clue how I got it but it was intended to be a mail away thing where you select the parts you want, mail it off with a check and then they mail the parts back, Hassle.

    I'm sitting here watching your video, cleaning up a 1990 Baja Bandit I got from the US, no doubt with similar history to yours. Great cars, flawed, but great. The 4WD Racing Pickup was the better car, but failed as it was too expensive. And yes please do a video on how to pull the trans apart, I've a couple here that may need it! Keep up the great Tyco content :)

      I talk about that on episode 189. They come apart easy but to put them back together is another thing entirely. You need to press the hex back on the axle BUT the diff can easily get crushed when you do that. I think they were heated at the factory to make them expand so they were easily pushed on. I have a plan to fix all that coming soon!

    This makes me want to fix up my hornet😔 The body is long gone, motor's toast, rear body mounts are sheared off, but everything else is in good shape. The way I see it, if you didn't give up on your rc, neither should I🫡💪🗣
