I have an opportunity to purchase a 2020 MKZ with only 14K miles on it at a wholesale price of $25,000 here in the U.S. The original sticker was over $44,000 in U.S. dollars. However, when I popped the hood and did not see a battery my ultimate fears came true: that the battery was in the trunk. It is a Hybrid model and I wish they had found a way to make this battery easier to get to. No one wants to take 10 minutes just to get to a dead battery; especially if the are left stranded somewhere! This has made me rethink my purchase. However, I am very grateful for your video and you did an excellent job letting us know how to do this ourselves!
Oh, no! I have seen that before in some Buicks where you have to remove the back bench seat to get to the battery...just so crazy and inconvenient for both consumers and mechanics! Battery cables only stretch so far when you need a boost from someone and your battery is in an odd place! I'm thankful this is not the norm for most vehicles.@@321verykind
I have a 2016 MKZ hybrid … my dashboard suddenly frozen and touchscreen when is completely dark then driving it one day it completely shut off and didn’t restart. When I waited 5mins or so I tried to restart it and it start but only for a minute or so then shut off. Could this be the battery? Also, there are two batteries in the MKZ hybrid one is very expensive. I really hope it’s not the expensive battery that needs to be replaced. Any suggestions?
Thankyou. Been following your MKZ journey since 2019.
Thanks for the support :)
Thanks for taking the time to post this! Had to change my 2015 MKZ hybrid 12v battery and this gave me the confidence to tackle it myself.
Glad you found the video helpful. Hope your MKZ treats your well:)

It is what it is… atleast it’s not under the rear seats like my Oldsmobile LOL. Glad you enjoyed my video:)

Will the bms reset method also work on non hybrid mkz? A 2014 2.0
Yes it will!
Can you please tell if there is a specific 12 volt battery that goes into these hybrid vehicles. And if so what kind of battery. Thanks.
Go to the ford dealership and ask for the battery for these. It is not an age battery, just a regular battery but i dont know the type
Do you if you can check the battery life thru the controls?
You cannot. Maybe through obd scanner but can’t from the dash
Question it’s a 2018 Lincoln mkz hybrid 2.0 that been sitting for 2 years will I have to change both batteries or is it only 1 battery in the car ?
Just change the 12 volt, idk about your other batteries
@@321verykind could it be the other battery sents it sats so long ?
Thank you, Brother! I am in the same boat as you.
Your welcome
Can you post a link to the MKZ FB you referenced? I’m not finding it

Try unplugging battery for 10 minutes then plugging it back on. Mine occasionally does that.
@@321verykindunplugging the 12v? Im having this problem. I received a message saying emergency shutdown pull over and it wont start
can put a battery charger on a 2017 mkz hybrid
Yes I’ve done it before without taking out the battery. No issues
