I sold my EOS R's and the RF holy trinity and bought 2x C200's. I loved the glass but for commercial use, the C200 with perfectly great EF glass is just better. BUT I kept 1x EOS R with the ND adapter for C cam and UA-cam - amazing cameras.
Monkeypixels at first I actually pre-ordered a c300 iii - but I after thinking about it some more I would rather have 2 bodies, to make my shoots my flexible and dynamic - as I am not doing broadcast work - just weddings and commercial work - I decided two C200’s with one EOS R for UA-cam and C cam when needed was the most logical choice (I didn’t want the FS7 as I had EF glass already too). The C300 ii doesn’t have 4K 60 so that was a deal breaker for me.
Great video Damien - Just started to add things to my EOS R, the Cage was probably the first (excl a spare battery) thing I bought. Though not long ago bought a MixPre 6 II - Just waiting on a mini HDMI to Micro HDMI to start recording automatically - a nice easy way to add XLR audio :) and once the Cable arrives, one less little bit of messing around in post. . .
Bad ass ! Just picked up an EOS R! I have a ninja V but none of the other stuff. I never thought about making it this setup but this is very cool! Ugghhh here I go spending more money LOL. Thanks for this video
Great video, one addition that I made was to add the Atomos Ninja V for the 10bit 4k external recording. I know you said that you typically shoot in 1080, but it s a nice addition for all the 4K shooters. Glad you have been making more videos, been enjoying them, keep it up!
Thanks a lot man! Yeah, my problem with the 4K is that it’s just 30fps. There’s almost never a video of mine that doesn’t contain slow motion in it. And matching the 4K to the 1080 is drastic enough. Now pimping the 4K even further just didn’t make sense for my shooting style ^^
@@damiencooper No, I totally agree with you. Much of the client work I do is shooting interviews, and so the 4k works for me. It does create a larger workflow, and your right about matching the 1080, I typically still shoot my B-Roll with my 1DX so I do have to be very careful which clips I can use so they match quality well..
@@imdanielmart6700 exactly! That's the one thing I am so glad of having right now. Two Eos Rs and nothing to worry about. But we'll upgrade soon again and will have similiar problems again
Hey man thanks for the great video, I’ve. Even shooting worthy he EOS R for the past 18 months and I must say I love it!! But I’m not quite pleased with it paired with the Sigma 18-35...can you suggest the best cinema style lens for the EOS R besides cinema lenses...I need to use autofocus for my filming style which you can see on all the most recent videos on my channel!! Thanks, look forward to your feedback!! -Adam The New Woodworker
Hey thanks for the really helpful video! I have an EOS R and have been considering building a rig like this for it. However I'm reconsidering with the release of the R5. Do you think selling my EOS R for an R5 would make sense? Or should I save my money and use the funds towards a cinema camera (C70, C300 mkii, C200) while keeping the EOS R as a B-Cam? I shoot stills as well as video.
I definitely didn’t do a good enough job explaining this 😂. So when mounting the camera on a tripod or gimbal plate you usually only have one screw so it tents to move around. On the bottom of the cage is a 1/4 and a 3/8” screw hole. So you can add another 1/4” screw to your plate and adapt it to a 3/8” screw. That way it’s way more secure!
As always, a great video! Can you guys recommend me a shop in Vienna where I could get the drop in filter adapter for the R? When I go online, usually it gives only onine stores... I will be comming to Vienna and want to visit a few shops.
my absolute go to store in vienna is digitalstore. Not sure if they have it in stock right now but they can order everything really fast! Prices are very good to

What are the things you're trying to compensate on the EOS R?

nice, haven't looked into any XLR Solutions as I just don't need them and for my work don't think it's necessary!
nice build! btw the camera cage also serves as an integrated tripod plate for arca swiss
Great video I watch mire than 6 time to set up my canon eos R deserve 1 million subscriber .
Love the set-up! I've upgraded my action cameras to have a SmallRig cage which works amazing and definitely gives many mounting options!

make sure to use the affiliate links :D! It's not even that expensive but makes a huge difference in my opinion!
Can you make a video about your Lens that you use for the EOS R?

Nice review! I use the Freewell 2-5 and 6-9, my monitor is the Feelworld F6 plus both I use on a Ronin-S.
I was really close on getting those as well but decided to go with the solid ones instead
This setup is killer!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Can you put a tripod plate on the right side? (So you could shoot in portrait mode)
Yeah, no problem
Interesting stuff! Just curious, what was your audio setup for this video?
Idaho Falls Magazine hmm? What do you mean?
@@damiencooper What kind of microphone and recording devices and connections were you using to record your voice?
Idaho Falls Magazine ah you mean for the video it self. Just used the rode video NTG directly into the camera.

When using the eos r drop in nd filters what do you do when you don't need any nd at all?

EoRES R.
Is it even a cinema camera to begin with? If not then you can't turn it into one by just adding accessories.
Surly make a video on the difference
