Great video. Was in Denali years ago and wanted to backpack it but haven't done it yet. Is this the "Grassy Pass" area? I remember guys going to backpack when we were there and it was right after the Eielson Visitor Center.
Thanks Chris!! Not sure about the grassy pass, but it's Units 12 & 13. I had Units 12, 13 & 18 booked for the Mt. Eielson Loop. Yes, I was near the Eielson Visitors Center. Loved it and hope to be back in 2023!.
You can do the Eielson loop counter-clockwise starting at Grassy Pass and ending at the Eielson Visitor Center. The drop into the thorofare river bed from the road involves a pretty steep chute, but otherwise this route is fantastic.
Thank you!! It's a wild place. In my experience, the river crossings were more terrifying than the bears. The bears were more concerned with eating berries. You have to go through a mandatory training with the Rangers and they are very helpful!
@@robmilne67 Sorry, just saw this and wasn't notified! I started from the Eielson Visitor Center. Last I heard you can't get there this year because of the rock slide and construction. Still many great Units to visit.

Did you start your hike from the visitor centre. I’m thinking of doing a solo backpacking trip there in September 2023
