I watched all of the Canadian and then a couple of the earlier ones and couldn't believe less than 100 likes. Lidia is a good as a couple of other women who travel this country doing vids. So yeah, the channnel should bubble up the charts. Well, I'll be, Brook from Girl in the Woods. My dad worked on contruction of the hiway way back. About 1946. It's always under contruction somewhat.
The absolute, most amazing place I have ever visited in Canada is Newfoundland. I wept when I had to leave there. I highly recommend driving all over that big rock (other side of the country). It even has its own time zone!
I had to watch all 3 videos of your adventure. The first time I went to Alaska on my motorcycle was 33 years ago, before the Alaska highway was completely paved. There was no cell phone, no GPS, and all I had to record it was my Minolta film camera, but I captured some incredible pictures along the way. Imagine what it's like to not have a roof overhead, windshield posts, dash, or door panels blocking the view. You came across the wild fires, and I came across a forest fire in Alaska, so we have something in common, besides doing our trips solo. I went up the Alaska Highway, which was more commonly called "The Alcan Highway" back then, from Illinois. In 2019, I went back up there on my 650cc Suzuki Burgman, but came back on the Cassiar Highway, which is what you took on the way up. Too much happened on my Alaska ride to mention here, but both of our trips were filled with adventure. You took me back in time, so thank you. I have an album full of pictures that I go back to from time to time. And your right, it feels like Alaska is one big National Park.

I lives in a place not far from Dawson Creek for quite a few years, and drove the Canadian portion of the Alaska Highway back and forth a few times. Seeing your video brought me back a lot of good memories of the amazing scenes. However, the "Mile 0" showed in your video (the sign in the center of the round-about) is not the real "Mile 0". The real, old "Mile 0" is about a few hundreds of yards/metres from that spot (look towards south-west), in the commercial block of the City of Dawson Creek), where is also a sign saying it is the beginning of the Alaska Highway. But if you missed the real "Mile 0", it was still an amazing driving experience for sure!
Yes, you're right! I know about the official marker. The one I stopped at was the one I wanted to go to first because it's the place I had visualized in my head from all the pictures and videos I'd seen. Thanks for watching! Glad the video brought back some memories for you.
Just stumbled upon you channel and watched WA to AK, around AK and then the AK Hwy video. My home of record is Palmer, Alaska. As former Military brat, active duty, and now military civilian (currently stationed in Japan), I have lived, worked and played in all 50 states, most of Canada and several Central American and Asian countries. I always come back to Alaska, because life and people there are a fun kind of crazy. I remember when long stretches of the Alaska Hwy, aka Alcan Hwy, was still gravel and you could drive hundreds kilometers between anything. When we drove the Hwy, we did it in 4x4 pickups with at least 2 spare tires (plus patch kit), 160 liters (40 gallons) of extra gas and week's worth of gear and food; having to camp out much of the way. We also drove (and still do) 100-125 kph (65-80 mph), summer or winter. Potholes just help keep your coffee stirred or a good head of foam on your beer. Glad you got to see Denali and much of the Alaska Range from the Parks Highway, as it is usually clouded over 2/3's of the time (in summer, in winter with 20 hours of darkness you can see chit). Too bad you only got to do half of the Wonder Lake Road in Denali N.P. Favorite thing for AK mountain bikers is to ride the road to camp and hike along the way. Yes Seward, or Sewage as we refer to it, is cloudy, foggy and rainy a lot. But next time take the Blue or Green Canoe (AK or Canadian ferries respectively) up the inside passage of Southeast AK to Wrangel, Ketchikan, Petersburg and Juneau. Ketchikan gets over 7 meters of rain per year, and sees the sun for about 15 minutes a day; 5 days a year (people in SE refer to small pockets of blue sky as blue clouds). Obviously you did not get the whole "Watch for Bison" experience. Last time up in 2005 we got held up for 40 minutes by a large herd sleeping in the middle of the road, and the undercarriage and sides of the truck was covered in Bison poop by the time we got through. To experience real Alaska, come back in the winter when it is dark 20 hours, sub-zero, and you can't tell where the road is, because everything is covered in ice and snow. For tourists, we say "Welcome to Alaska, get off the bus and enter the food chain". Or when it comes to driving, "If you survived the accident (with another car, moose or bear), then you weren't driving fast enough". Yes, Alaska is a fun kind of crazy.

Love your videos. I hitchhiked that stretch 30 years ago and I got stuck in Dawson Creek. Stupid kid I was I didn’t even know it was the beginning of the Alaska highway. But I do remember the road and especially the Liard Hot Springs. I still miss the long drives from those days and I never thought of doing it by myself like you’re doing, but it’s truly inspiring and I may just get in the car again and takeoff!
Based on your VLOG we went to Alaska from Calgary. It rained for a bit most days, roads were good fuel was easy to get (Filled 5 gallon can at start never used it). Found you need to book motels 4 days in advance. Restaurant, food, motels and gas are more expensive. Motels in general were similar in quality to the rest of North America. The wild life on the side of the road was more than you would see in a zoo. Worth the trip. After 2 weeks it all started to look like repeat of what we had seen. Well worth the visit. Did not have tire or windshield damage. Hope others plan on going once.

Oh, you thought that road @ 6:27 -> mark was rough? LOL. We've worse roads in Oregon. i did love Alaska, working there form '81 to '85, and twice since. Where i was, there were no roads, just gravel runways, as travel is only by air. Thanks for the tips. . .

@@aaronmyram6864we were there from Aug. 1st to the 7th, it was beautiful for the first 6 days and then the smoke moved in on our last day. My son lives at Kacees Motel and that’s where we stayed, we drove up to Lake Muncho , it was beautiful.
Lived in Fort Nelson in the 80’s and frequently travelled along the highway for work. Lots of spots to stop along the way. The lodges would compete with each other for best pie, cinnamon rolls, or bread. Always a treat stopping in for a coffee break.

I was at Muncho Lake (and Liard Hot Springs) a couple of weeks ago. My son's GF works at Northern Rockies Lodge at Muncho. She'll be there until end of October. We went there with my wife, daughter and her BF. He's from Mexico and it was the farthest north he's been. We had been hoping to see Northern Lights but unfortunately it did not happen.
The segment where you crossed the border into Canada popped up so i watched it and the next two. Thanks for sharing this grand adventure. You have such a wonderful attitude that it was really fun to watch. A friend rode her BMW650 bike up part of that way from southern Alberta, then in the Yukon on to the Dempster Highway to Tuktoyaktuk on the Arctic Ocean.
Ellie and I just finished some time travelling around BC. I saw you were in Cache Creek earlier.. If you didn't see it, there is the Desert Hills Taco Stand - YOU MUST STOP THERE NEXT TIME - (maybe on your way down?) 2520 Cariboo Hwy, Cache Creek, BC. - Best tacos I've ever had and they have a crazy selection of salsas (my favourite was watermelon and pineapple on a pork belly taco!) After that, take the highway 99 south to Squamish/Whistler - the most unforgettable drive I've ever had! Safe travels!
Ive driven up to Whitehorse, Yukon a few times from Calgary, Alberta. First time i did it was by greyhound bus in 2007 with my friends when I was 22. I've done it by car by myself once in 2016 and last summer in 2022 since my father lives up there and yeah its all pretty amazing but I would really like to do a trip like this with another person or multiple people. I always take my video camera and cell of course but it would just be better to road trip with a friend. Another friend and I have been wanting to do a cross country road trip in a motor home since we were 16. If everything goes according to plan that will happen next summer hopefully....FINALLY!! Watching videos like these just makes me more eager to get it done. I love road trips and travelling to other countries. In my opinion that is the way to experience life. My dream was always to see the world and its been amazing.

Idea for another trip for you. Head out to the Maritimes provinces. Must sees include, Kedjji National park, Brier Island, Taylor Head hike, Cape Breton Islands Cabot Trail in Cape Breton highlands national park. Head over to Newfoundland for amazing Hospitality and scenery. Check out PEI. Do the Gaspe bay in Quebec.

Almost at 4K suscribers now! Hello from Southwestern, Ontario (between Toronto and Detroit, MI). Stumbled upon your channel and this my third video now (BC to Alaska, Alaska and this one! - will go back to more though!) plus I checked out your intro one in Mexico! I really enjoyed this series. I used to live out West (the Canadian Rockies - Banff) when I was younger in the early 90's and I miss those views so much so thank you for taking me on your journey. I did a fair amount of solo travelling out West (US and Canada) when I was in late teens and I miss the BIG landscapes so much. I still travel from time to time, mainly for music - mainly Southern Florida and the Caribbean, plus roadtrips here around the Midwest but the West is callign me again, ha!

I'm so happy I found your videos. We drove that route just before Christmas 2021, and found it very beautiful. Just like you, we went north on Hwy 37 in BC, then to Watson Lake Yukon, and west to Alaska, taking the Alcan Hwy back to Dawson Creek. We were in a semi truck however. I need to go back there with a smaller vehicle to see more sights!
We drove it a few months after you (September). The road from Haynes Jct. to Beaver Creek was much improved by then. From Beaver Creek to Tok, it had some real rough spots, we even had to go off road at one point where repairs were in progress. Overall, the Alaska Highway was in better condition than we expected.
Your series came up in my feed so I took a chance. I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed your trip! You're an excellent videographer and at times I thought I was watching a movie it was that good! I am in Southern Ontario Canada and I would love nothing more to do this road trip some day. I subbed!
Muncho and Liard Hot Springs are absolutely awesome! But you missed the WAC Bennett Dam. It's a side tour from the Fort St John/Dawson Creek route. But Mile Zero is more important to most.
The real beginning of the Alaska Highway [Alaska-Canada military highway (Alcan)] project was actually in Edmonton Alberta. Blatchford Field was the busiest airport in North America during the highway's construction. American troops were stationed here, with aircraft used to make sure the construction wasn't off course (no GPS back then).
I swam in the Liard River hot springs; its a must stop! By the way I bet you've never been in Athabina; that's where I was born again, but now I Live in Victoria, BC and my name is John
Glad you were able to visit Liard Hotsprings and Muncho Lake. The Hotsprings are always best in winter when you’ll frequently be the only person there. Moose will occasionally hang out in the springs and you can see little fish swimming around in the warm water under the boardwalk. Summit Lake, which you passed through is the highest point on the highway, used to be a restaurant and motel and a small lake nearby. Lots of wildlife along the highway, especially during the winter at night when they come out to lick road salt off the roadway.
Cool videos. Hope you get a chance to go to Banff and Lake Louise in Alberta before you leave Canada. Moraine Lake is another awesome place by Lake Louise. Have a safe trip!
If you do the east part of Canada do it in September and early October before the snow starts. Tenting would be cold after mid September. Motels are less in the fall. If you want to see all of Canada start on one coast and end on the other. The summer is generally warm and little rain. Provincial camp grounds are numerous and inexpensive and have lots of tent places. Traffic can be heavy at times but nothing like the US. AAA can do you a trip map to start showing you what is available.
Well done, a great trip, love your presentation. We did that trip about 20 years ago but drove up to Dawson City and over the Top of the Word Highway (An impressive Highway). Liard Hot Springs is a wonderful place, I still talk about after all this time. Thank you for the memories.

Good evening, you will have to re-visit Dawson Creek, the place you did your video was the tourist start/end point as it's big enough for motorhomes, etc. The actual mile 0 was about 3 blocks away and there is a marker there. Did the same trip the year of the 75th anniversary of the highway and thanks for the memories.
Yep, there is another marker that I saw, but the touristy one is the one I always envisioned when I thought of the Alaska Highway, so I wanted to visit that one as well. I am so glad to hear you did the trip too. It was an epic adventure!
You look like you are actually driving sedan car to Alaska and I'm wondering how you prepared your vehicle for this epic adventure. Any upgrading to the car and so on? Did you encounter any issue along the way? I'm very surprised to see a sedan car doing this rugged terrain. I really admired your bravery. Thanks taking us along on your epic adventure.
I just made sure all the recommended maintenance was done, and I got it inspected. If I were to do it again, I would install a lift kit to give my car a bit more ground clearance. The drive was actually quite smooth for the most part. There was just that one stretch between Haines Junction and Beaver Creek that was rough. That section of the road wasn't fun, but it was doable. @@LidiaExplores the mile 0 post a couple blocks away is just to suck tourists into the downtown core (as tiny as it is). I'd argue that the cairn and big sign where you did the video IS the start of the highway.. Go south from there and it's Highway 2; go east and it's Highway 49. Nice vids by-the-way. I live here and have only driven as far north as Ft. Nelson! On my bucket list to drive to Tuktoyaktuk someday.
FYI you mentored in another video that siri was talking in meters and kilometres. The distance she gives alerts is the same distance she would in miles and feet. That's why she alerts at 600 meters and not 500 meters. 600m is just over 1/3 of a mile.

Love your videos. I hitchhiked that stretch 30 years ago and I got stuck in Dawson Creek. Stupid kid I was I didn’t even know it was the beginning of the Alaska highway. But I do remember the road and especially the Liard Hot Springs. I still miss the long drives from those days and I never thought of doing it by myself like you’re doing, but it’s truly inspiring and I may just get in the car again and takeoff!
Based on your VLOG we went to Alaska from Calgary. It rained for a bit most days, roads were good fuel was easy to get (Filled 5 gallon can at start never used it). Found you need to book motels 4 days in advance. Restaurant, food, motels and gas are more expensive. Motels in general were similar in quality to the rest of North America. The wild life on the side of the road was more than you would see in a zoo. Worth the trip. After 2 weeks it all started to look like repeat of what we had seen. Well worth the visit. Did not have tire or windshield damage. Hope others plan on going once.

Oh, you thought that road @ 6:27 -> mark was rough? LOL. We've worse roads in Oregon. i did love Alaska, working there form '81 to '85, and twice since. Where i was, there were no roads, just gravel runways, as travel is only by air. Thanks for the tips. . .

@@aaronmyram6864we were there from Aug. 1st to the 7th, it was beautiful for the first 6 days and then the smoke moved in on our last day. My son lives at Kacees Motel and that’s where we stayed, we drove up to Lake Muncho , it was beautiful.
Lived in Fort Nelson in the 80’s and frequently travelled along the highway for work. Lots of spots to stop along the way. The lodges would compete with each other for best pie, cinnamon rolls, or bread. Always a treat stopping in for a coffee break.

I was at Muncho Lake (and Liard Hot Springs) a couple of weeks ago. My son's GF works at Northern Rockies Lodge at Muncho. She'll be there until end of October. We went there with my wife, daughter and her BF. He's from Mexico and it was the farthest north he's been. We had been hoping to see Northern Lights but unfortunately it did not happen.

A friend rode her BMW650 bike up part of that way from southern Alberta, then in the Yukon on to the Dempster Highway to Tuktoyaktuk on the Arctic Ocean.

I lived in Dawson Creek area for 20 years 20 years ago, and you blew past!
Ellie and I just finished some time travelling around BC. I saw you were in Cache Creek earlier.. If you didn't see it, there is the Desert Hills Taco Stand - YOU MUST STOP THERE NEXT TIME - (maybe on your way down?)
2520 Cariboo Hwy, Cache Creek, BC. - Best tacos I've ever had and they have a crazy selection of salsas (my favourite was watermelon and pineapple on a pork belly taco!)
After that, take the highway 99 south to Squamish/Whistler - the most unforgettable drive I've ever had!

Ive driven up to Whitehorse, Yukon a few times from Calgary, Alberta. First time i did it was by greyhound bus in 2007 with my friends when I was 22. I've done it by car by myself once in 2016 and last summer in 2022 since my father lives up there and yeah its all pretty amazing but I would really like to do a trip like this with another person or multiple people. I always take my video camera and cell of course but it would just be better to road trip with a friend. Another friend and I have been wanting to do a cross country road trip in a motor home since we were 16. If everything goes according to plan that will happen next summer hopefully....FINALLY!! Watching videos like these just makes me more eager to get it done. I love road trips and travelling to other countries. In my opinion that is the way to experience life. My dream was always to see the world and its been amazing.
I've always dreamed of seeing the world too. Hope you can get out on the road soon!

Just west of Fort Nelson the trees on the north side of the road are seedlings I hauled up there many years ago.
Idea for another trip for you. Head out to the Maritimes provinces. Must sees include, Kedjji National park, Brier Island, Taylor Head hike, Cape Breton Islands Cabot Trail in Cape Breton highlands national park. Head over to Newfoundland for amazing Hospitality and scenery. Check out PEI. Do the Gaspe bay in Quebec.

Almost at 4K suscribers now! Hello from Southwestern, Ontario (between Toronto and Detroit, MI). Stumbled upon your channel and this my third video now (BC to Alaska, Alaska and this one! - will go back to more though!) plus I checked out your intro one in Mexico! I really enjoyed this series. I used to live out West (the Canadian Rockies - Banff) when I was younger in the early 90's and I miss those views so much so thank you for taking me on your journey. I did a fair amount of solo travelling out West (US and Canada) when I was in late teens and I miss the BIG landscapes so much. I still travel from time to time, mainly for music - mainly Southern Florida and the Caribbean, plus roadtrips here around the Midwest but the West is callign me again, ha!

I'm so happy I found your videos. We drove that route just before Christmas 2021, and found it very beautiful. Just like you, we went north on Hwy 37 in BC, then to Watson Lake Yukon, and west to Alaska, taking the Alcan Hwy back to Dawson Creek. We were in a semi truck however. I need to go back there with a smaller vehicle to see more sights!

We drove it a few months after you (September). The road from Haynes Jct. to Beaver Creek was much improved by then. From Beaver Creek to Tok, it had some real rough spots, we even had to go off road at one point where repairs were in progress. Overall, the Alaska Highway was in better condition than we expected.

Muncho and Liard Hot Springs are absolutely awesome! But you missed the WAC Bennett Dam. It's a side tour from the Fort St John/Dawson Creek route. But Mile Zero is more important to most.

The real beginning of the Alaska Highway [Alaska-Canada military highway (Alcan)] project was actually in Edmonton Alberta. Blatchford Field was the busiest airport in North America during the highway's construction. American troops were stationed here, with aircraft used to make sure the construction wasn't off course (no GPS back then).

Glad you were able to visit Liard Hotsprings and Muncho Lake. The Hotsprings are always best in winter when you’ll frequently be the only person there. Moose will occasionally hang out in the springs and you can see little fish swimming around in the warm water under the boardwalk. Summit Lake, which you passed through is the highest point on the highway, used to be a restaurant and motel and a small lake nearby. Lots of wildlife along the highway, especially during the winter at night when they come out to lick road salt off the roadway.
I would have loved to see moose hanging out in the springs. It was an amazing drive. Thanks for watching!
I have to Laird Hot Springs, very good place. Been to Muncho Lake about 15 times. We used to fly out of there to good moose hunting.
Muncho Lake is beautiful to drive past. I didn't get to spend much time there.

@@LidiaExplores Quebec City and Montreal are amazing. It's liked being in Europe. Quebec City is the old city in Canada/USA.
If you do the east part of Canada do it in September and early October before the snow starts. Tenting would be cold after mid September. Motels are less in the fall. If you want to see all of Canada start on one coast and end on the other. The summer is generally warm and little rain. Provincial camp grounds are numerous and inexpensive and have lots of tent places. Traffic can be heavy at times but nothing like the US. AAA can do you a trip map to start showing you what is available.
Well done, a great trip, love your presentation. We did that trip about 20 years ago but drove up to Dawson City and over the Top of the Word Highway (An impressive Highway). Liard Hot Springs is a wonderful place, I still talk about after all this time. Thank you for the memories.

Good evening, you will have to re-visit Dawson Creek, the place you did your video was the tourist start/end point as it's big enough for motorhomes, etc. The actual mile 0 was about 3 blocks away and there is a marker there. Did the same trip the year of the 75th anniversary of the highway and thanks for the memories.
Yep, there is another marker that I saw, but the touristy one is the one I always envisioned when I thought of the Alaska Highway, so I wanted to visit that one as well. I am so glad to hear you did the trip too. It was an epic adventure!

You look like you are actually driving sedan car to Alaska and I'm wondering how you prepared your vehicle for this epic adventure. Any upgrading to the car and so on? Did you encounter any issue along the way?

I just made sure all the recommended maintenance was done, and I got it inspected. If I were to do it again, I would install a lift kit to give my car a bit more ground clearance. The drive was actually quite smooth for the most part. There was just that one stretch between Haines Junction and Beaver Creek that was rough. That section of the road wasn't fun, but it was doable. @@LidiaExplores the mile 0 post a couple blocks away is just to suck tourists into the downtown core (as tiny as it is). I'd argue that the cairn and big sign where you did the video IS the start of the highway.. Go south from there and it's Highway 2; go east and it's Highway 49. Nice vids by-the-way. I live here and have only driven as far north as Ft. Nelson! On my bucket list to drive to Tuktoyaktuk someday.

FYI you mentored in another video that siri was talking in meters and kilometres. The distance she gives alerts is the same distance she would in miles and feet. That's why she alerts at 600 meters and not 500 meters. 600m is just over 1/3 of a mile.
