Jamie, thank you for your work. I've been closeted for my entire life, and I'm beyond exhausted. Because of my struggles as a child, I really get upset with people/politicians who have zero experience in the medical field, making medical related issues their priority. Why do we have field specific professionals? How is it that a child with bad parents can be forced to take medication for being "too energetic," but a child trapped in the wrong body is ineligible for medical treatment and instead receives abuse. Any person who believes that hate speech is acceptable needs therapy. We need unbiased mental health professionals working with every single government employee. Random drug testing as well, just like the military but more often. I have so much to say, but the comments section is just too small.
I *strongly* encourage y'all to start getting familiar with the fediverse. I know it looks like unwieldy nerd junk lol, but as an open source platform, it is a place where we can truly build online community in a way that is not subject to the whims of fascist companies. threads is federated, but MANY instances already block ppl from there, and I'd assume many more will follow. please try not to get discouraged by this. it's what they want, clearly. there's no reason to be so explicit in things like the examples, nor does it serve their "hateful conduct policy" to remove trans themes from messenger. I'd honestly say that this training, as it was presented, was a a direct attack on us as a community and their queer and trans employees specifically. remember that it's queer and trans ppl that keep tech running, and we can *also* shut it down lol. things may be uncomfortable right now, but we can get through this if we stick together and encourage each other. I'm 38, and my experience with all of this in my youth was one of isolation and fear. I would've came out in 2004 or even sooner than that if I had access to the resources and ppl I know now back then. we thankfully don't live in those times anymore, and I truly believe that's the difference b/t now and then. try as they might, they can NEVER get rid of us. it will NEVER get back to a time where queer and trans kids grow up thinking they are the only ones that feel the way they do, no matter how hard these fascist bigots try to get rid of information about us, because we will never allow it to happen. in the past, nazis burning books was effective b/c it was the only way we had to store information, and to communicate concepts and ideas. it was the only source of knowledge available that was so expertly documented, and what was lost during that nazi book burning was due to the fact that it was only in that one place. we live in a time where that is simply not possible anymore, so you should take heart in that, and push to find even more ways to be visible as a giant "fuck you" to these fascist bigots. it will likely become difficult at times, and uncomfortable. there will surely be challenges that we may not have the foresight to prepare for. but we WILL get through this! lastly, I would encourage y'all to watch this vid that details what is believed to be the grave of a transgender priestess (I'm so sorry about posting a link in the comments!): We Have Always Existed Transgender Ancient History - Exploring the Remains of an Ancient Trans Priestess www.youtube(.com)/watch?v=k_LAwo98d0w it's an incredible find, and I believe that being grounded in history as people that lived and thrived thousands of years ago is incredibly important for the moment that we find ourselves in. I believe it is INCREDIBLY POWERFUL to see such clear and incredible evidence that we have truly always existed, no matter what these bigots say. while we don't know the name of this amazing woman, what we do know is that she lived a life that was true to herself, and respected in death as the amazing woman that she was in life by her peers and loved ones. she lived her life in such a way that, even as bigoted historians tried to obscure her existence, she could not be silenced. and I believe that we should take inspiration from her and live our lives to the fullest in a way that can NOT be denied by assholes. I love y'all and truly wish that you find peace and love during these incredibly trying times. please don't give up! fight for your right to live and live your gd lives to the absolute fullest of your ability! there are so many more of us out here than the little girl that I was, hidden away in fear, could've ever known. and I'm glad to have lived long enough to know that I'm not abnormal. I'm not an anomaly, or some kind of freak. everything I felt growing up as a trans kid was valid, and I should be proud that I made it to be able to speak to people that I would've never knew existed. I run my own little fediverse server. When it first joined the network, I received a fairly massive barrage of hateful transphobic content -- and then I simply defederated from that little cluster of bigots, gone, bye, never to be seen to heard from ever again. Now it's nice, and I can associate with nice people. Its my server, my rules, and if someone is being shitty and hateful then they go away. There are plenty of LGBTQ friendly instances out there with plenty of great people for less geeky technical types. Bluesky is "ok", but fedi is still better, bluesky is after all still just a business and eventually money talks its way in. Fedi is, and always has been, the best alternative to microblogging.

I don't live by anyone's definition of self than my own. While I think it is immoral to treat people as less than, I am completely unsurprised by the newfound vigor that bigots seem to have on social media. This may look like their version of being nice a year from now but, I won't know it because I stopped worrying about their judgement a long time ago.

And I am discovering the information on UA-cam. Which I didn't even think to look at until a month ago. I am Information and Computer Scientist and worked mostly in the Defense and NASA areas. NASA is very much supportive of diversity.

I woodworked most of the time. I worked mostly in the Defense and NASA areas. I was alway out to HR and worked with HR departments when changing jobs. Most of time I got their buy in. I had only one bad experience when HR lied to me. NASA is very big on diversity and good employer.

Florida.. and was in the middle of transitioning in middle age.. until the 2008 crash presented me a brick wall to run headfirst into... IM now picking up what pieces I can as a senior because the dysphoria has returned yet again... On my phone most of the time.. could engage "cc" but that idea has flaws in regard to clear understanding
