I think Solaris is a true god out for vengeance. He used to be a benevolent being, but when humans decided to exploit his powers and even caused his body to split through their cruel experiments, he decided they wouldn’t get away with this.
I think the flame is more likely a form Solaris takes when he's inactive. Basically asleep. It would explain why such a powerful entity would allow himself to be shoved into a machine for experiments he wants no part of. Because he didn't know he was gonna be taken in the first place. You could argue that Elise extinguishing the flame would disprove this because if it was the original all-powerful sun god, it wouldn't be as easy to kill as blowing it out or dumping water on it. But it's possible A) Elise being the former vessel of his power incarnate would have some connection to it, or B) the death of Solaris in the future had somehow weakened it severely in the past.
If Solaris wanted to, he could cause a timeloop of events everytime he gets defeated. But No, he decides to send Sonic and Elise back in time to erase itself to make a better future.
My theory: Solaris has done this a thousand times over. I did some research, and found that the flame grows. Over time, it splits into two parts: Iblis, the Flames of Disaster, and Mephiles the Dark, it mind and dark intentions. Perhaps this cycle was normal. Solaris would destroy the time, become a new flame, universe starts again, and the system starts over. Humanity, however, always tries to put itself as a god. What they did was force Solaris to prematurely fuse, and it disrupted the normal cycle of things.
i REALLY liked that you think that Solaris is a compassionate god. It made Mephiles even more the villain than Solaris himself. Iblis may also be the anger of Solaris toward humanity in this way. (idk if it's english what i just written but i understand myself) anyway, REALLY GOOD VIDEO :)
I don’t think Sonic 06 failed SEGA, I think SEGA failed the game. It had so much Potential, great story lines and great characters including Maphiles and Silver which I love them both incredibly!!! If they had just worked the bugs out better and fixed a few things here and there it could have been much better.
Ok never was that much into the lore behind Solaris but this honestly intrigued me, but well I'll re-iterate myself that after 06 games are so disjointed in terms of lore and comprehensive story I'm not sure if bringing Solaris back would make sense
I agree, Solaris probably was a good god until it got misused in that experiment, this could had cause its soul to become dark and filled with anger and hatred until it became Mephiles. When Solaris was knocked unconscious (defeated by Super Sonic, Shadow and Silver) his good soul came back and he realised his rage had destroyed everything, so he used his power to send Sonic and Elise back in time to just before the experiment, so that they can blow him out and kill him before any of it could had happened.
Solaris did nothing wrong...Solaris is a character I feel a lot of sympathy for and I’m happy to see someone make a video about Solaris and it’s possible origins since no one else really cared enough to do so. The last one made me feel emotional and I love it. I love Solaris and the concept and inspiration behind it. Characters like Solaris (such as other powerful Sonic entities like Chaos, Light Gaia, Dark Gaia, and some similar Non-Sonic characters etc.) with their background and inspirations have really influenced me to look into those kind of characters and their inspirations and would later highly inspire me to create and write similar characters or plot elements. That and also looking at some of the interesting things ‘06 had and all of the potential things it could have had. My interest on the mystery around ‘06 and Solaris has highly inspired me and I have nothing but respect and gratitude for that alone for it influencing me as an artist and writer. Say what you will about ‘06 and all of its flaws are surely something to admit to and accept rather than to ignore, but there IS potential good and creativity to it. I guess I’m just a sucker for mysteries, biblical references, and mythology, but this topic surely gives me warmth.
SR Striker I’m not so sure. Solaris and Chaos are written similarly to each other and the Gaias being separate but connected beings still share a similar dynamic to Mephiles and Iblis with Light Gaia/Chip being light and and Dark Gaia (obviously) being darkness as well as Light Gaia, like Mephiles, having an actual personality and conscience while Iblis and Dark Gaia don’t and are more akin to mindless destruction. It’s just the light and darkness dynamic are swapped with Light Gaia and Dark Gaia when comparing the two to Mephiles and Iblis. That and they are also inspired by mythology (Gaia being the name of the goddess of Earth and the Gaias in Sonic shaped the earth to be what it is) and can be referred to as such. But to be specific, Solaris, Mephiles, and Iblis got their inspiration from certain figures in religion (Solaris and Iblis) and legend (Mephiles’ concept being inspired by Mephistopheles from the story of Faust).
Great video Danny, and great theory about Solaris too, both about the Solaris being a corrupted god and still being alive in another timeline. Personally, I also believe that Mephiles, Iblis, and Solaris are all still alive in a different, ones where the Flame was never put out and they're out there somewhere, which would explain why Crisis City is in Sonic Generation. Just a thought.
I think the reason Crisis City exists is because it's an alternate timeline that was split off. Either that, or Time Eater took the place from before it was erased, since it technically still existed at some point.
Im sorry for you but crisis city is in generations Just because people back in 2010 voted on the internet ‘‘what is your favorite Sonic stage ? '' In a official sega site So yeah crisis city is in generations just for nostalgia and not for theories of Sonic 06 Edit : also thats why some of ‘‘everyone favorite stages '' like Green Hill or city escape are in the game because people decided the stages of the game , even toughy dont knewing that the voted stages would appear again in a main line Sonic game
Nice video, I seen many fans think Solaris is some tragic being rather than a mindless monster depicted in the game. Solaris interests me because of the mystery behind him, not counting Mephilies, because he is corrupted. Maybe they would expand on Solaris's story if the game hadn't been rushed.
It's a nice thought that in later games after the end victories, Solaris is the sun that rises to greet the heroes after their successes in saving their world.
@Kurome Nep Solaris fought a much weaker versions of Sonic, Shadow, and Silver and lost. Infinite destroyed a much stronger Sonic, Shadow, and one-shot Silver. Sonic Forces and Sega themselves have confirmed that Infinite is the strongest Sonic villain, however like many other series that will change with the next villian. images.app.goo.gl/z9mM2Xx3mMtGbP996 If you think after almost 20 years since 06 that Sonic and friends haven't got more powerful then I don't know what to say to you.
@Kurome Nep that's correct he got beat up by Shadow, through a temper tantrum, then tried to destroy everything. Solaris has a great backstory, good character thanks to Mephiles, and is just a sinister, cold, calculating villian.
@I AM SPEED how is Shadow moon level, are you saying he'll die if he was blasted by the space colony arc's laser? The 06 super forms are at least multiversal
@I AM SPEED Sega and Sonic himself has shown and stated he has gotten much stronger than he was years ago. In the Adventure/Dreamcast era during Sonic Battle base Emerl (who's planet level) then he absorbs the 7 chaos emeralds and the final egg blaster that destroyed multiple star clusters. Base Sonic (while holding back) was able to defeat him in 10 rounds in 30 seconds. In the beginning of the Modern era in Sonic Rush Super Sonic and Burning Blaze were able to defeat a Universal+ being then in 06 Super Sonic is fighting Solaris who destroyed the multiverse in his first form. In Sonic and The Secret Rings base Sonic defeated base Erazor Djinn (who's stated in the Secret Rings guide to create stars) and destroyed/absorbed over 100 hundred out of the 1001 pages from the Arabian Knights "While appearing as a regular storybook, the stories found within the Arabian Nights have spawned alternate realities." "Erazor Djinn began absorbing the Arabian Nights' inscriptions, thereby absorbing the book's power itself, with the intention of taking control over the world of the Arabian Nights and eventually Sonic's world as well. As a result, the world of the Arabian Nights began to vanish and the Arabian Nights storybooks' pages began to turn blank. If the Erazor Djinn brought an end to the world of the Arabian Nights, the book's stories would be lost forever." (World being used to describe a Universe not a planet) Before the beginning of the game Erazor Djinn was slowly destroying the Arabian Knights universe, by the time Sonic and Shara face him he's a lot more powerful and loses to base Sonic. Then Erazor Djinn absorbs the World Rings and destroys the Arabian Knights universes just by transforming and nearly broke into Sonic's reality Fast forward to Sonic Mania and the Phantom King uses the Phantom Ruby prototype and forces Classic Sonic to turn super (this Classic Sonic is a lot stronger than when he fought Universal+ Time Eater in Sonic Generations) then in Sonic Forces Infinite uses the real Phantom Ruby and is able to destroy base Sonic, Shadow, and Silver who have gotten much more powerful than they were in 06. "His strength increased even further due to beating Infinite after previously being effortlessly defeated by him within Sonic Forces, making him far stronger than his Pre-Forces self. Additionally, Sonic is consistently stated to grow much stronger and is hinted to train, as well stating his power grows with every passing second." If you believe that Sonic has not got stronger since 2006 I don't know what to say to you. "Sonic's most powerful enemy yet, Infinite." This refers to every Sonic villain including Solaris Sega's statements/Sonic's feats >>>> GamerGuyd's opinions PS: Mephiles was supposed to be in Sonic Forces as one of Infinite's illusions
I prefer to see the Solaris that Sonic fought as a malevolent force and I think the first half of the video explains why, about how Mephiles was his mind during the entire fight and Mephiles is...well, malevolent I believe he was a result of the failed experiment and the hubris of the people involved in his creation But great video nonethless I enjoyed how you pointed out about the relation of Solaris from the myth and winged creatures helping you out through the game, maybe there's more to it like you said Also I didnt notice how Mephiles being a shadow meant he was Solaris's immaterial self even thought I know he is his mind and Iblis his body, good point, maybe that in a certain way "canonize" him as Shadow's inner demon, since when Mephiles(the dark goo) absorbed Shadow's shadow by that logic he absorbed part of his immaterial-inner self and became Mephiles(the one with a body like Shadow's)
We could replace the Generations Time-eater with Solaris and virtually nothing would be different. With just a few rearrangements, we could set all of Generations within the finale of 06.
I don't think we've actually seen the real Solaris. I think the living flame we saw was in fact a prison for Mephiles and Iblis created by the real Solaris. Because if you think about, the Duke was aware of both of them on some level as he had the Scepter of Darkness to imprison Mephiles and knew how to make a vessel for Iblis, meaning that both of them are things the Soleanna people where aware of (or at least the Duke was, maybe they thought the flame was Solaris but he knew different... would explain why we don't hear about Mephiles or Iblis in their religion). I think perhaps they where more like demons who came together to form a false god, only to be defeated by the real Solaris. In addition you noticed that the tube containing Mephiles is much smaller then one containing Iblis (as you theorized was them pumping in dark energy) could in fact have been to Duke trying to totally separate all power from Mephiles so he could use it himself (not realizing that the power he wanted to go back in time was at the core of Mephiles before all along). Anyway really enjoying the month of Mephiles and do you think maybe you could a video on the potential connections between him and Infinite (like that he created the Phantom Ruby or it is in fact a peice of him or who knows what else as I haven't read the IDW comics that say what happen after Forces yet and maybe they contain another clue to a theory)?
What if Princess Elise is Able to summon Iblis like a Guardian of some sort? Imagine after Sonic death she summon Iblis to fight Mephiles? Would that be cool or what?
This theory has taken things to a bit of a deeper level for me. Now, if I were to say make a theory relating to this one, it'd probably have to go like this. Seeing that the eagle are pretty much the symbol of Soleana's kingdom, along with the sun light, my best guess would be that the eagle in the symbols and emblems of Soleana's culture represents one of the mythical creatures from Greek mythology; the Phoenix. Seeing the bird also has some relationship with fire, it make sense to have the power of flames. Now what does that have to do with Solaris? If I had to take a stab at it, the phoenix within time was getting weaker and had to change forms, thus turning into a simple burning flame the kingdom of Soleana worships. As for the experiment, you could say that Solaris is still named after a god, sure. But let's go back to the burning flame the phoenix deformed into, it was likely in my opinion the very soul in the flame is more or less dormant until the day where the experiment went down. Iblis and Mephiles being dark entities must have been created from some random experiment before joining with the flame. Combining the flame and the dark energy must have cause the spirit of the flame to undergo 2 dark entities. The first being of raw physical strength of the flame, and the other being a mind of the shadow and a illusion (considering how shadows work from the lighting and different angles).
Hmmm, I don't think this theory is bonkers by any means, this made me boot up the game and analyze the scenes and kind come to some of the same conclusions, great theory Danny!
I had this cringy theory 2 years ago that Mephiles actually escaped the cracks of time to be sealed into the phantom ruby during Sonic Mania, and then basically fusing with Zero the Jackal
Maybe the dark energy could be the from another Soleanna god, where there is light there is dark and since Solaris is the God of the Sun (Light) what if Solaris had a dark counterpart, I call this “counterpart” Lunaris god of the Moon(Dark)
I actually agree with this 100%, there's no way three super hedgehogs were able to defeat Solaris given his power, that should not be possible. Dont get me wrong Sonic, shadow, and silver in their super states are by no means weak, but solaris is on a whole nother galaxy in terms of power, intelligence, strength, etc. Perhaps everything in sonic 06 was part of its plan, it wanted to be defeated and it wanted sonic to erase it from at the bear minimum the current dimension so solaris wouldnt be angered or corrupted like so. Considering solaris is effectively omni present maybe it could have a future reappearance or may exist but just simply not in the current dimension. I still currently love the idea of Solaris, the idea of a super dimensional being that isnt just "very strong and fast" and the idea that Solaris never really lost and that everything that happened, including its erasure, would further push my love for this character.
The opening gave me chills so hard that I didn’t even sleep Edit: when people compare dragon ball and sonic the demon jenemba gets compared to Solaris Another edit: and I saw a sonic and dragon ball comparison video and fodder those two characters the bottom says demon on both
Thank you for your content surrounding one of my favorite characters from the sonic series. Mephiles/Solaris do need more love and I appreciate it. I don't know if you're aware of Zenku Theories' video about the origin of Solaris, but when I watched it, a lot of his lore digging and speculations within the game of 06' are cool to think about. Again, thank you Lord Danny. Here's the link to the video, have a great day. ua-cam.com/video/2tdAPofGWus/v-deo.html
Theory: Solaris split into 2 form which you already know he used them to watch the human world and after seeing the worst humanity had to offer so he tried to consume time it self and he also used Iblis to take out the world sliver is from
I don't think so, since they erased his anchor to the main timeline(the flame of hope), to prevent 06 from happening. Solaris sent Sonic and Elise back in time to do so.
I think that Solaris created a loop where mephiles and Iblis couldn't fuse togheter becauss Iblis was realesed and destroyed the world, since the princess is suppose to die and realese Iblis and Sonic was not able to save her, and here the events of sonic 06 were repeated again and again. so mephiles for the entire game was trying to break this loop so he let sonic save Elise by going back In time before the egg carrier crashes, and this was the event that broke the loop cause sonic actually change the past, and I think that mephiles needed Iblis to be freed by crying so he did all of it. and when he kills sonic Elise cried, mephiles finally could have fuse with Iblis.
Well, Mephiles is apart of Solaris, Before he and Iblis were made. Solaris himself was actually calm and chill. With the flame of hope being a physical avatar for Solaris to interact with the Material Universe. He only became evil after witnessing the Duke of Soleanna trying to use his power to time travel for selfish reasons. He resisted the experiment, until it made him unstable and caused the explosion, which resulted in the schism and corruption of Solaris and the sealing of his halves and the rest is history.
I really like this theory I also wanna share this, you ever tried listening to the final boss phase 1 theme ua-cam.com/video/2XFownUhfnI/v-deo.html (Copy/Pasted from the Sonic Fandom Wiki/Sonic News Network) E schi no ne voles voli sanctus a // E schi no ne voles pres e frui meloda (Do not wish forth the willed holy name's schism // Do not welcome the schism's grave melody) - A reference to how Solaris had been split apart into Mephiles the Darkand Iblis during the disastrous Solaris Project, and how Mephiles and Iblis upon fusing back together planned to destroy time itself. Might also reference Mephiles' seduction of Silver into initially attempting to murder Sonic in a misguided attempt to stop Iblis's creation.Väde no vi ero a // Sende no vi ero a (No Force will be there to be seen // So send a new force that will be) - a reference to how Solaris plans to devour all of time itself, and foreshadowing how Solaris's flame has to be destroyed to undo the events of the game's story.Vive sanctus ici e si se sus veri (Live is a holy power if it lits the truth) - A reference to the fact that Solaris was originally a sentient flame before the doomed Solaris Project.
Just as gaia was a deity that had some to do with earth it self. Also with Chaos "she" is a deity of the dragon and water. That's why chaos looks like a dragon in the form of water.
"Like the fusions in 'Dragon Ball Z". If you are referring to the"Z" portion of "Dragon Ball" I might let it go but if you are referring to the entire series, the correct term is "Dragon Ball"
another great video! btw, I don't know if you have seen this but I think this other video also does a great job at unraveling what solaris is based on the iconography in the game. It definatelky has some differences from your own theory but I strongly suggest you check it out. ua-cam.com/video/2tdAPofGWus/v-deo.html
I'd like to see a death battle with goku black and zamasu vs mephiles and iblis (fusion allowed) I feel like fused zamasu would win against solaris because it took the grand zeno to pernamently destroy zamasu

Solaris is a god and Iblis is Solaris’s physical form and Mephiles is Solaris’s mind
I still currently love the idea of Solaris, the idea of a super dimensional being that isnt just "very strong and fast" and the idea that Solaris never really lost and that everything that happened, including its erasure, would further push my love for this character.
yet it’s stated even super sonic himself is stronger then solaris with data books so yeah no that paragraph means nun
The opening gave me chills so hard that I didn’t even sleep
Edit: when people compare dragon ball and sonic the demon jenemba gets compared to Solaris
Another edit: and I saw a sonic and dragon ball comparison video and fodder those two characters the bottom says demon on both
I'm loving Mephiles month.
All this lore and theorizing, chronicalization is baller. Mephiles is my #1. Him and Black Doom.

Cool video!

Wonderful video!
Google states that solaris is an immortal super dimentional sun god of soleanna, so yes, he is a god
We see the real sorlarus Sonic says that wen the go to the past "no that's the real sorlarus"
Theory:
Solaris split into 2 form which you already know he used them to watch the human world and after seeing the worst humanity had to offer so he tried to consume time it self and he also used Iblis to take out the world sliver is from
Your theory of Solaris reminds me of the lore behind Chaos from SA1
Please do power scaling and talk about vs battles with the Sonic verse
Solaris reminds my of an urskek.
Solaris is one of the best bosses in the Sonic franchise that is under used in this franchise.
Solaris was one crazy mf
dude be looking like the hyrule crest XD
So mephiles is sonic’s darkseid?
I think that Solaris could probably return, maybe :/
I don't think so, since they erased his anchor to the main timeline(the flame of hope), to prevent 06 from happening. Solaris sent Sonic and Elise back in time to do so.
@@bionic-tale4313 ok
7:22 fin.
The 1 Dislike is Mephiles because you claimed he corrupted Solaris instead of is Solaris. Always the ego with that evil crystal boy.
Yeah that, that sounds about right.
6:03 - 6:16 He isn't wrong.
Does this mean Sonic 06 is Canon or not?
Well no but actually yes
@@amagicalbeing7427 its officially canon ugh
I really like this theory
I also wanna share this, you ever tried listening to the final boss phase 1 theme

E schi no ne voles voli sanctus a // E schi no ne voles pres e frui meloda (Do not wish forth the willed holy name's schism // Do not welcome the schism's grave melody) - A reference to how Solaris had been split apart into Mephiles the Darkand Iblis during the disastrous Solaris Project, and how Mephiles and Iblis upon fusing back together planned to destroy time itself.
The humans got tired of praying to an imaginary god, so they created a real one
YES 😈
Doesn’t Solaris look like Chaos, is there a connection?
No. Chaos is a Master Emerald-mutated Chao. Solaris is a project or flame, if not a god.
GE7 I see, but why does Chaos takes the form of water?
All these creatures sonic are mythical lores. Solaris is a Arabian deity. And mephelis name means a person with nothing or broken.
Just as gaia was a deity that had some to do with earth it self. Also with Chaos "she" is a deity of the dragon and water. That's why chaos looks like a dragon in the form of water.
Ammid Tamir Y'Israel I didn’t know Solaris was Arabian
Why are you so obsessed with mephis?
False God is the right answer
"Like the fusions in 'Dragon Ball Z". If you are referring to the"Z" portion of "Dragon Ball" I might let it go but if you are referring to the entire series, the correct term is "Dragon Ball"
First
I think this video might have ruined Solaris for me. Sorry.
Oh really why
You should make a theory about how mephiles knows who shadow is because it shouldn’t be true that is shadows inner demon
Shadow and Mephiles meet in Sonic 06. That's how they know each other.
Look onto the deep stories of shadow the hedgehog of 06
another great video! btw, I don't know if you have seen this but I think this other video also does a great job at unraveling what solaris is based on the iconography in the game. It definatelky has some differences from your own theory but I strongly suggest you check it out. ua-cam.com/video/2tdAPofGWus/v-deo.html
I'd like to see a death battle with goku black and zamasu vs mephiles and iblis (fusion allowed) I feel like fused zamasu would win against solaris because it took the grand zeno to pernamently destroy zamasu
noticed that Solaris noise either sounds like a Elk or a slowed down wolf noise
Cool Video!
