- What should you know about Middlesbrough? The town of Middlesbrough has been making history for millenniums. In recent times, however, it has become a town to avoid for anyone considering relocating to or within England. Yeah, sure, Smoggies, as people from Middlesbrough are called, will go to any length to refute that assertion. The staunch supporters of the town can come up with what they consider evidence in support of their position. Nevertheless, we stay by nothing but the truth here on this channel. Anyone desirous of having his ears tingled with what he would love to hear is not likely to have it great here. So, in this video, we shall give you facts from credible sources proving that Middlesbrough is indeed a vile town. Middlesbrough in Brief We would love to carry everyone along regardless of biases. Now, for anyone not quite familiar with Middlesbrough, let’s tell you a bit about the town. And regardless of what you knew about the town that was once thriving in coal, steelwork, and shipbuilding, this brief history would be a cute reminder. It’s a town in North Yorkshire, England, governed by a unitary authority borough also known as Middlesbrough. It’s part of the devolved Tees Valley area. Located on the Tees River’s southern bank, it’s near the North York Moors National Park. As of the 2022 census, the town has a population of 143,900. Until the early 19th century, the area called Middlesbrough today was rural farming land. In fact, in 1801, the area had only 4 farmhouses. It was around the 1830s that a new industrial town and port started developing there. In 1842, ironstone deposits were discovered around the Eston Hills. This changed the story of the town. The natural resources brought great prosperity to the town. So it started to mushroom massively and rapidly, its population reached 20,000 by 1860 from being barely a hamlet 60 years earlier. At the dawn of the 20th Century, the town had some 90,000 residents. Its population reached 160,000 by the 1970s. Then, there seemed to be work for everyone that wanted to work. If the town had continued in that trajectory, sustaining such positive developments, its story would be different from its modern-day realities. But that was then and gone are the days. The town suffered a long and slow industrial decline. Thus, many processing plants closed. This left myriads of people out of work and poverty became the dominant force in the town. These have remained the order of the day in Middlesbrough today. Against this backdrop, we’re set to show you the realities of the modern-day Town of Middlesbrough. Before we continue, let’s tell you that if anyone feels differently or believes otherwise, the comment section below is open for supportive or differing opinions.

This is not Middlesbrough, we don't have a beach.
what i load of rubbishh . where are half the videos and photos from and why is she not putting the S in the name when saying Middlesbrough
Not even Middlesbrough pictures
just like anywhere, there are some bad parts of middlesbrough and some very nice areas. places like acklam, marton and nunthorpe are very nice areas with nice houses and a lot of money in the area. houses prices tend to be considerably cheaper in the north east than the rest of the country. some people need to actually visit the area and see what its like. pictures aren't from middlesbrough in the uk for the most part in this video as well, and it has an s in the name
I've lived in Middlesbrough all my life. Got a good job, good education. Great family and friends. Yeah it's not perfect, but do us all a favour and at least pronounce it right before you shit all over us 😂
wages are crap
@@user-gr5ic4ih1s depends what your job is doesn't it really ??
All wages in the North of England are crap
Wages everywhere are crap except for Dahn Sahf. What a shite video. Can't even say the name right. Garbage.
This is made with A.I, many of the pictures used are from a place called Middleboro in Kentucky, USA
If your gonna slag off the boro at least show pictures of it and not Stockton 😂
14% unemployment is a very scary figure, expecially during a cost of living crisis.
most of the photos are stocton ffs
Not quite all. - The trains and some of the road construction shots are from the US!!
Can't even get the name right, talks about Middlesbrough and puts pictures of America and neighbouring towns.
I can only assume that the person who has produced this video has not thoroughly researched and checked their sources of information to ensure they are correct.
At least come here see the town and you will realise that the crime isn’t that bad what so ever
Middleboro, aye?
I feel safer now knowing this is generated by AI. Complete garbage, my job is safe for now 🤣
According to these comments. Which people Have made. On middlesborough You have definitely got it wrong. Middlesbrough was a lovely place to live at One time. It.
Is down to the government. Governments don't make slums. But They create them
I live their it isnt that bad
This is a fake Channel. Middlesbrough is on a higher level than this poster comprehends.
As the spelling would imply there is an ssss sound in the pronunciation of Middlesbrough, your research skills are questionable have you ever actually been to Boro
Report it, I have, get it taken down, what is the point of the video, stock photographs from all.over the world, bears no resemblance to Middlesbrough, presenter can't even pronounce the town name correctly, absolutely pathetic
*Middlesbrough* ... *_Middles-brough* - there's an S in there. Hard to take your claims seriously when you can't manage to correctly pronounce the town.
That out of the way, this video is so badly done.
For a start, no locals will defend _Boro_ as being a nice place to live. It used to be but over the past 10-20 years it's gotten worse.
As a local, watching your video, just screamed of stock photos and facts found online coupled with generic footage that aren't representative of the area. The whole video screams of it having been made as a GCSE Geography assignment by a 14-15yo. Do better.
There was a recent video focused on grim reality of Middlesbrough and it actually showed the streets and give a much more reflective but still damning report of the town.
So again, not like I'm here to defend the town against facts, figures or opinions.
The only claim you made during your video about the town which sounded like they maybe some truth to it was the quote from the unnamed source who sounded racist.
Obviously, the UK did get a high influx of migrants over the past 10-20 years, with Middlesbrough & Teesside both taking in a larger number than other towns and boroughs. It is evident when you walk around. Many have obviously fit into the community positively but then there's also the ones who have featured in the raising criminal statistics.
Whilst more people have moved to the area, the town as a whole has lost ALOT of jobs. Not just manual industry but also every day employee such as shops, call centres, etc that many would be employed by.
If you were serious about a true video on the area. Visit. Visit the town centre during the day to see how little is there, visit the estates to speak with locals about their communities, visit the town centre on a night to see how you feel about the individuals you cross paths with.
But yeah, 1/10 for the video and it's *Middlesbrough*
Teesside has nice Parmesan 😮
WTF those pictures are NOT Middlesbrough, what are you babbling about?
I normally like your videos but this is rubbish. The commentary doesn't pronounce it properly and with strange images of America I wasn't sure if it was actually about Middlesbrough UK
Maybe you should actually go to the town and film it in future
AI generated tosh.
I have never heard so much rubbish can't even say the word Middlesbrough 90% pictures not of Middlesbrough. Yes the town as problems the same as any other but this is absolute tosh
Middle-boro (where is the S?), eastern hills (Eston), random pictures of not Middlesbrough (Mostly Stockton-On-Tees), no longer in North Yorkshire. What an absolute abomonation of a production. Disingenuous at best.
Middlesbrough is in North Yorkshire actually 😁 but the rest of the video is an absolute joke
@@TheTeessideTravellerUK I'm not convinced. It's in some sort of administrative type affair, but unless something changed, it changed from North Yorkshire, to Cleveland (bourne from cliff-land), and then Teesside under the administrative nonsense. TBF, I'm not sure any of us that live here know where we are anymore, no-one wants us. Even the police forces can't make their minds up. Should just go back to being "Port Of Darlington" and be done with it 😂.

@@iandonnelly542 Teesside was never a county though, similarly Tyneside / Wearside / Merseyside etc. They are geographical locations . Cleveland county itself was abolished in 1996 and was never officially replaced. I agree, the county name is mainly for ceremonial purposes these days, but I am happy with that and like most folk, I am comfortable with saying I live in North Yorkshire. I agree with the name of the emergency services debacle. That's a joke !
@@TheTeessideTravellerUK I remember the county of Cleveland being abolished. Folk in Skelton and surrounding areas still seem to reference Cleveland, but none of us Townies seem to. Quite sad really. It felt like Cleveland really got kicked into touch when South Cleveland Hospital was renamed to James Cook University Hospital.
It's Middlesbrough, not middlebrough ffs.
100% uploaded by a mackem.
She needs to know how to say Middlesbrough 😂
People in this town all meet up in the centre to play with Rubik's Cubes they are obsessed with Rubik cubes
Dr Rubiks mother was born in Middlesbrough.
